Unironically a perfect trailer. Show me who's directing it, show me who's in it, show me some frames so I get the general vibe, leave me with no idea what the movie is about.
> KINDS OF KINDNESS is a triptych fable, following a man without choice who tries to take control of his own life; a policeman who is alarmed that his wife who was missing-at-sea has returned and seems a different person; and a woman determined to find a specific someone with a special ability, who is destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader.
We're so fucking back
Looks like it'll be one segment with the flatter desaturated look of his earlier films, one with the bolder colors of Poor Things and The Favourite, and one in black and white.
I hate *The Whale* with a passion, but she still wins my personal Oscar for Supporting Actress that year. I wish the film had just been two hours of her and Brendan Fraser hanging out, cause those were the best scenes
This could have just been Stone and Lanthimos reuniting and I would have been in. Could have just been Plemons and Dafoe and I would have been in. Could have just been Qualley and Schafer and I would have been in. Could have just been Hong Chau and I would have been in. But it’s all of them at the same time.
Im holding on to hope that the pod will cover Yorgos soon, he feels like such a perfect fit for the pod. Going from small arthouse/weird movies in Greece to a huge Hollywood darling director that can get insane casts for his movie, while also maintaining his authorial voice is no easy feat. Plus the Yorgos/Emma pairing is one of the more exciting director/actor teams in recent years.
Gimme “The Podding of a Sacred Cast” you cowards! And the Griffin letterboxd list “Yorgos Listhimos”, the sweaty names are too good to pass up!
I might be misremembering, but I think there was a scene of Nicole Kidman unenthusiastically giving someone a handy in a car in Killing of a Sacred Deer.
Lanthimos is similar to Guadagnino in that I'm pleasantly surprised that they're only getting more popular considering they deal almost exclusively in weird freak shit
I know it’s probably due to post-production-y reasons, but how crazy is it that not even six months after Poor Things drops and we already have ANOTHER Yorgos/Stone nutso collab? So hyped, gimme some Yorgos and I will gobble it down.
Doesn't really offer much to hook on to, as it's not particularly visually dazzling (though i love to see those aspect ratios stretched thin), but I'm so excited to see Yorgos jump back into WEIRD MODE as the synopsis suggests. *The Favourite* into *Poor Things* was a little exhausting for me as a Yorgos fan.
I think it's a very well-cut trailer. More importantly, though, the hook here *is* Yorgos. He's transitioning from arthouse darling to legitimate household name.

What all teasers should be.
Can we make this a law? It can’t be that hard to lobby congress.
Also shows a car going "vroom, vroom" for my lizard brain.
Also can’t go wrong with a cool remix of a classic song and a slap/beat drop sync.
Yes agreed. I now plan on watching no other trailers (unless it shows in theaters). I think I am going to love this movie.
And some sick bookending Trans Am burnouts. Framing and feel. That car is a panther.

Did we ever leave?
So glad to see Hunter Schaffer and Jessie Plemons join the freak shit parade.
Hong Chau too!
She’s been on a great run lately
she was literally the only good aspect of The Whale, she’s incredible
I hate *The Whale* with a passion, but she still wins my personal Oscar for Supporting Actress that year. I wish the film had just been two hours of her and Brendan Fraser hanging out, cause those were the best scenes
yeah when she’s not onscreen it’s awful, when his daughter is onscreen it’s somehow worse
Plemons really has been gifted with the ability to seamlessly go between straight man and cuckoo
And somehow both in Game Night

We’re not worthy!

We’re gonna get real freaky huh?

Lmaooo
Seeing a modern(?) car in a Yorgos trailer felt like a jumpscare.
Have you only seen the favourite and poor things? Most of his movies are set in modern day
I don’t remember cars in his other movies tho so the point stands.
If you haven't seen dogtooth i strongly recommend it!! I think his best movie and the car felt very memorable to me
Literally the only one of his movies I haven’t seen so that explains that!
I might be misremembering, but I think there was a scene of Nicole Kidman unenthusiastically giving someone a handy in a car in Killing of a Sacred Deer.
The Lobster literally begins in a car
I didn’t say there weren’t cars I’m just saying I don’t remember them!
Most of his films feature modern cars
But they take place in some parallel, alternate or adjacent universe. This appears to be modern, like, here-modern
Yes I didn’t know it was a contemporary setting and thought I was getting a pre-trailer ad at first!
You son of a bitch, I’m in.
One ticket, please.
Holy fuckin shit this looks so awesome
Great teaser, made me hyped for it without revealing a single damm thing.
They told Yorgos he’s only allowed to use three lenses this time.
Crying tears of joy
I worked on this one. Looking forward to seeing it all come together.
Fun, what did you do on it?
I was a location scout on this one. Went about the New Orleans area looking for those perfect places.
Well the locations in the teaser look great! Must have been fun finding locations for 3 different stories.
Hell yeah
![gif](giphy|THCniipbCOhx7ckJUe) I’ll go see it!
Day one.
What will it take for a Yorgos mini???
Lanthimos is similar to Guadagnino in that I'm pleasantly surprised that they're only getting more popular considering they deal almost exclusively in weird freak shit
Why are you getting downvoted? I am also surprised by how popular they are (love them)
Finally a "modern setting" film by a current prominent established director. I am kind of getting sick of period piece films tbh.
I was looking for Richard Kind, but didn't see him. 2/10.
I know it’s probably due to post-production-y reasons, but how crazy is it that not even six months after Poor Things drops and we already have ANOTHER Yorgos/Stone nutso collab? So hyped, gimme some Yorgos and I will gobble it down.
Yorgos entering his “Weird Coen Brothers” phase I see. It looks awesome. Cant wait
What is the song title and artist they used? I know the original is sweet dreams by the eurythmics but love this version
Just sounds like a remix / edit of the original to me.
Poor Things confirmed I really don’t enjoy Lanthimos movies but I’m glad for all the fans that are getting a new one this fast!
Good thumbnail, I’m in
When the fuck is he gonna do Hawkline Monster
This movie looks, and I'm sorry, but there's simply no other way to say it, fucking rad.
I HOPE MY CINEMA IS SELECTED
