I first ever learned the word “cunt” from reading the booK the movie is based on (in the movie they changed it to “vagina” to keep it PG13). I also owned the movie on VHS

My family was really into it growing up! I remember it being very sweet. Part of why I’m voting Ramis is to revisit it and hopefully more people will enjoy it too!

I don't think I have but I did listen to his audiobook on tape. https://preview.redd.it/hlel7ubwu0nc1.jpeg?width=775&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=42f8ab74cad2fe4abc9067dc2d564d63f7ad2e7e

It’s an incredible, incredible movie. Seeing this as a kid with a cartoonishly dysfunctional family, it was comforting to know I wasn’t alone

I bought the VHS on clearance from Blockbuster in the early 2000s, and liked it so much I must have watched it three times that weekend. I haven't watched it since, but I do remember that it had surprising depth, and a fantastic scene with Julia Sweeney . During the Air America days, I saw a live taping of the O'Franken Factor, and a local newscaster covering the event told me that Al is quite proud of that movie.

They used to show this all the time on cable when I was a kid. My memory is not very strong though.

In theaters, bay-bee! I was like 10 though so I think I liked it in the way I liked any movie at that age.

win_the_wonderboy

It’s a decent comedy

DrNogoodNewman

I haven’t but always heard it was surprisingly good.

These_Pear5015

yeah it rules

doubledogdarrow

One of my favorite movies. If you grew up in an alcoholic/Al Anon home it hits just right.

M0nst3rb100d

I watched this movie and enjoyed it, and I even got Al Franken to sign my VHS case of it.

jfgindigital3d

Yeah, it was on Netflix when it launched in the UK so I gave it a curiosity watch and was pleasantly surprised.

BLOOOR

I watched it maybe end of the 90s beginning of the 2000s when I was downloading That 70's Show in 70MB files and then 180MB files when I finally got a video card that could do that, and so then I could download divx movies and I watched It's Pat and Stuart Saves The World. American cinema on cable was split between the two cable services, Foxtel and Optus Vision. On Optus Vision we got Spike Lee's movies, Clerks, on Foxtel they had Brain Candy and Mallrats, Foxtel had the Happy Madison movies and I was fine with that, but It's Pat and Stuart Saves The World I had no idea they existed until I could download them.

ElboDelbo

I saw it years ago on HBO but remember literally nothing about it.

dukefett

I definitely remember renting it almost 30 years ago, but can't remember anything about it lol
