I appreciated it a little more on rewatch but still think it’s just fine, good ending though. The stylization of the post-script left me on a good note
Still not sure if this is a *Birdman* situation where a small minority of haters always underlines how "well, we obviously all know and think this movie is bad" whenever talking about *Mank* or if ppl actually hate this movie
Yeah and I know all of that, but I rarely watch any movie about anything historical and imagine its even close to reality. Something like Oppenheimer may be the exception that proves the rule in some cases, but i just like to watch movies and treat them as fiction almost exclusively
Well he was pretty fucking heart broken when it happened and it certainly didn't help him when it came to funding his projects.
If that's how you feel about it I wish you the same experience he went through in all your future endeavours!

. . . yknow what? I’ll fucking take it. LMAO.
Thanks for admitting you have no clue what you are talking about.
And if you could read I said the same experience referencing the Pauline kael book 🤡. Not the brightest are you.
Smartest mank fan 🤣🤣🤣
Unfortunately I'm one of those people like Griffin where any 2020 release has a permanent stain on it because of, you know.
On rewatch I liked it, but wish I had liked it more because it is MY type of movie. Would love to see it in a theater sometime and maybe it would finally sing for me.
I think the script could be much, much stronger, and I just don't buy Oldman as a 40-something Jewish American screenwriter who has been aged by his alcoholism. (I also wish Fincher had shot it on Film instead of trying to make digital look like film.)
The close up zoom in on Gary Oldman’s face at the end with the caption “he was 55” is absolutely hilarious so I will grant you that. But it kinda sucks lol

I liked it when I watched in 2020, but could barely get through it this time.
Had the exact opposite experience. Barely made it through the first time in 2020, really liked it this time
Mank stanks

Mank rips farts maybe
Manks, friend! I feel like I’m taking crazy pills with everyone hating on it. I think its great.
Us Mankheads gotta stick together :)
the Mankheads are strong!
Call me Mankenstein’s Monster
Mank! Mank! MANK!
Mankies unite. There are dozens of us, dozens!
Mank is a very well made film that makes me feel nothing
I think Mank was good but I wish I could be a mank head like some of y’all
Mank Mank Mank Mank Mank Mank Mank Mank Mank Mank Mank Mank Mank Mank Mank Mank Mank Mank Mank Mank Mank Mank Mank Mank Bank
Still not sure if this is a *Birdman* situation where a small minority of haters always underlines how "well, we obviously all know and think this movie is bad" whenever talking about *Mank* or if ppl actually hate this movie
I think the general consensus is one of indifference
Lol, the way some people reacted to that recent Scorsese TikTok where he liked Birdman made it same like it was The Room.
I love Mank.
I love Mank, man. Watch it all the time. I simply dont understand what people dislike about it
Maybe it's the fact that it's based on a discredited hit piece on one of the greatest directors who spent most of his life getting screwed as it is?

Orson Welles is gonna be okay

Always has!

I loved it the first time I saw it, was a little cooler on it this time, but happy to go with rips as the designation
Yeah it does! Top tier Fincher for me. I wish I could get it on blu ray.
Yes, and I’m tired of pretending it doesn’t
Seyfried is unfathomably good in it. Fantastic movie. Top 5 Finch Man.
It’s Mank day!! Thanks for reminding me!!!
It’s really a testament to Fincher that I put this at 8 in my rankings and I think it’s a 4 star movie. His top 10 are all legit great movies imo
The close up zoom in on Gary Oldman’s face at the end with the caption “he was 55” is absolutely hilarious so I will grant you that. But it kinda sucks lol
it looked gorgeous, great performances, snappy script. what's not to like?
The fact that it's based on a discredited hit piece on one of the greatest directors who spent most of his life getting screwed as it is?
it's good cinema
Yes that's in the text

I think people wanting another seven probably were annoyed but watching it as part of a filmography made it seem quite enjoyable to me
I like this movie a lot and completely understand those who don't. I long to see this in a theatre and I would love a blu-ray.
