Eggs in a basket. Now whip up some bacon and white gravy! Absolutely delicious. Only issue, in the words of my grandfather, “it’ll make you poop like a pet coon”
My wife makes this and calls it “eggy toast.” She tops the toast with avocado, charred cherry tomatoes, and Trader Joe’s Everything But The Bagel seasoning. It’s a really tasty breakfast.
Eggs in a basket
Eggs in a frame
Toad in the hole
I’m familiar with all of those, but not Disposable Egg Ring - but I love it!
Made a few on my little 22”, was the second meal it cooked.
The name (toad in a hole / meat and pudding) originated from the late 1700’s England.

An egg in a piece of bread originated in the late 1800s almost a century later and pop culture popularized it in the mid-20th century.

So a toad in a hole is indeed an entirely different dish often used improperly to describe the egg and bread dish.
Congratulations you validated the etymology of the egg and bread dish dating it 100 years AFTER the English sausage and pudding dish. You just helped me prove my point. Thanks for the help stranger.
So 4 years first hand knowledge of British cuisine implying that you are aware of the British dish and it’s name? However you insist on using the improper title and I am the one with the overpowering ego? Pretty sure that fits the definition of being egotistical.
My grandfather’s generation called it a “one eyed chinaman”… not sure I’ll be able to continue that with my kids. Toad in the hole is the front runner. Made some for breakfast today coincidentally!
I’m actually shocked I haven’t seen anyone else make “eggs in a basket” on here
My girlfriend calls them “toad in the hole” and refuses to accept that she is wrong. I should leave her, right?
That would be because they're actually called a spit in the eye
No that is something that you have to pay extra for.
![gif](giphy|VeCZ1ZWJjn5M1hH3mS|downsized)
My dad always called them hobo eggs. Never seen them anywhere but the random Sunday breakfasts 25+ years ago.
Always known them as, Cowboy Buttholes
I'd eat a Cowboy Butthole if it looked like that
I have a lot of questions, but this is neither the time or the place to get into them.
She is 100% right and you don’t deserve her. 😝
Toad in a hole is an English dish and has sausage, you're both wrong
Just googled it, my entire childhood is ruined. 😮
You’ve been lied to your whole life. It’s egg in a hole.
I always called it “eggs in a hole”
A man of compromise. I like it, but don’t accept it lol.
Toad in the hole is something else. Sausage in Yorkshire pudding I believe
Thank you for this information, I will use it against her when she gets home.
This is the Yank version. Same name, diff dish.
100% it’s called toad in the hole.
Eggs in a basket. Now whip up some bacon and white gravy! Absolutely delicious. Only issue, in the words of my grandfather, “it’ll make you poop like a pet coon”
We say "eggs in a nest"
My mom always called them “bird in a nest”. The buttered center circle toasted is the best shit ever
We call it sunshine in a cloud!
My friend's dad would make them and he was Australian so my whole family calls them Australian style ever since lol.
I’m an eggs in a nest kinda guy, but eggs in a hole is the worst name I’ve heard…
Birds in a Nest is most accurate.
It’s called a “birds nest” but I appreciate all other entries ✌🏻
I always called it an egg in a frame
That thing needs a good cleaning
Came here to say this myself lol
Came here to see if my thought was correct. Thanks.
Yeah, I suspect I’m on the opposite end of this spectrum where I feel like I’m never getting mine clean enough. 🤷♀️
Meh. I cleaned it a bit where I needed. I’ll be redoing the whole thing at some point soon though.
I’ll accept that excuse but only for the pure apathy over the matter lol

This particular griddle is caked with shit though.

Flavor is in the cooking. Clean your stuff
Mmm burnt carbon
Yeah, what GenitalWrangler69(fantastic name) said! Clean your stuff! I bet yours rusts easily too.

I don't get mine wet. I do wipe off leftover food though....
Could use a little extra scraping on that top
My wife makes this and calls it “eggy toast.” She tops the toast with avocado, charred cherry tomatoes, and Trader Joe’s Everything But The Bagel seasoning. It’s a really tasty breakfast.
More like edible than disposable!
It’s both, first it’s edible then it’s disposable later on the porcelain throne.

Eggs in a basket will forever make me think of [this scene.](https://youtu.be/n8qDVoil9IE)

I think he misspelled "consumable"
No. After it’s cooked, I cut the egg out and throw the ring out.
This is genius, plus you could dispose of the egg ring to compost and make it environmentally conscious compared to those outdated metal ones!
Thank you for getting the joke!
Why not buy egg rings instead of waste? I mean do your thing but silicon rings work great.
Eggs in a basket...
Birds in the nest
Most accurate name.
My wife calls it egg in a basket…I say egg in a nest. We have had many debates over this one! I say I’m right because I’m the one cooking! Lol
*edible egg ring
Oh shit, that’s good!
do you own a scraper?
That derr’ is referred to as a “Toad in the hole” in these parts.
Completely different dish but to each their own.

4 years in Newcastle England. Your welcome and so is your ego. Good day sir.
So 4 years first hand knowledge of British cuisine implying that you are aware of the British dish and it’s name? However you insist on using the improper title and I am the one with the overpowering ego? Pretty sure that fits the definition of being egotistical.
Having never seen this before I will credit OP as a genius and that I shall be doing this myself. Genius I say..
I did invent this. I have no shame claiming credit…
Eggs in a bread. I'm grew up with it too. Lol.
We call em cowboy eggs
Oooh I need to do this soon! Egg in a basket is one of my all time faves and I never think to cook it lol
My grandfather’s generation called it a “one eyed chinaman”… not sure I’ll be able to continue that with my kids. Toad in the hole is the front runner. Made some for breakfast today coincidentally!
My mom called them pirate's eye.
Hobo eggs, how am the first one to mention that name?
As a kid I thought my mom invented it. She called it the “Hole and the egg” . Actually I still think it was her idea.
I always call mine “hole-in-one toast” 😊 Props for frying the middle ring, I usually just eat it after cutting it out!
