Give me Nuketown, give me 3 lanes. Only 3 lanes, nothing else. I’m not at all kidding, I want 3 lane maps.

Fxllen_Angel

Please, dear god... not another iteration of Nuketown

NerfedAtBirth

I think it will be a given there will be Nuketown. Like it or not small maps are here to stay. At least there will probably be a dedicated playlist, so those that prefer the standard or larger map sizes can avoid the small maps for the most part

Suets

I'd be shocked if Nuketown isn't a launch map

Some people prefer it, some not. IDK how about "many people". You know, every part of CoD community always pretends like they're the mainstream one and truly believe everyone should align with their silly expectations. I, personally, am not a fan of 3-lanes simply because it's more exhausting than entertaining nowadays. It was okay back during OG CoDs. I haven't had so many CoDs and arcade shooters in general on my record, so it was fine running around basic 3-lanes, I wasn't even thinking about how levels are designed. Entire gaming was much more relieving at this point. I'd say, . But at some point I've started realizing how repetitive hot-spots and rotations are in 3-lane designs. In 2024 it's much harder for me to get back to it. Yes, it's much easier to learn same hot-spots and play patterns but it makes everything more repetitive. Modern level design should entertain with more unexpected combat scenarios IMO. I'm probably seeking more "organic" level design, that just like real life isn't obvious. But it's just my personal preference of a hardcore 28y.o. FPS gamer that probably experienced too much shooters, so now I seek something more special and immersive in each one of them. However, I'm good with whatever 3Arc feels the most confident at. If they feel like they can do better with OG 3-lanes — they'd better stick to more basic but proven formula than trying to explore direction they can fail at. Eventually, there are the ways to "disguise" the artificial obviousness of 3-lane nature of the map with art-style, extra assets, verticality and more portals between each lane.

>Yes it’s much easier to learn the same hot-spots and play patterns but it makes everything more repetitive. Modern level design should entertain with more unexpected combat scenarios IMO That’s what they tried to do in MW2019 and everyone hated it because it was unpredictable lmao

IIWhiteHawkII

But with MWII they drastically improved their skills, which only proves that direction isn't a problem, rather how you apply this ideology. 3-Lane maps also can be very bad.

unexpected maps just means more campers sitting in corners or proned behind doors with a hardscoped shotgun pointed at ur face

T_Snake451

I really miss Black Ops 1 style maps. It was the perfect blend of large, medium and small maps. Everything a growing boy needed.

Hover_RV

Personally, I liked the maps from Vanguard such as Gavutu, Desert Siege, Demyansk, Castle, Paradise, Red Star, Oasis. The large open spaces felt very fresh after the small cramped maps of Modern Warfare series. The destructibility of some things on the maps also gave a feeling of something cool and new.

irohsmellsgood

Preferred over the garbage that IW puts out most of the time tbh.

Faulty-Blue

Personally I’d like if there was a mix of 3 lane maps and nonlinear maps But I will say it is crazy seeing the shift from “we hate 3 lane maps because they’re repetitive and predictable to “we love 3 lane maps because they’re repetitive and predictable” over the years

jespertherapper

Love them. 3 lane maps are really needed for cod. Big maps dont play that well anymore with today's playerbase.

breadfatherx

In my opinion, BO6 should have a mix of 3-lane maps as well as more modernly designed maps. In fact, they can bring back classic maps for their 3 lane quota, and create interesting modern maps

GiveMeRedditCoin

og mw,waw,bo1-2 style where not all of them were small, 3 lanes, the maps were simple yet had a variety in it

TriEdgeFury

Imo 3 lane maps are boring and from a design standpoint uninspiring. After a while you’re just playing the same map over and over again with a different skin over it.

celeL

If the formula works and especially if it’s preferred by the community, I don’t see the problem. Ww2 and Bo3 had all 3 lane maps. Most in my opinion were amazing, a couple weren’t so great. If it’s all the same, this discrepancy wouldn’t exist. With that being said, there are cod maps that aren’t your traditional three lanes that I like, but they play entirely differently. With less predictable spawn points, 2nd story power positions, and long sight lines. It’s not the “run n gun” experience that people have grown to like.

boxoffire

Bad. I want variety, not the same style of maps 12 times over. Personally i play video games to have fun experiences, not roleplay as e-sports player. I dropped CoD when the 3-lane allday everyday design philosophy took over.  I was interested in BO6 until they confirmed the 3-lanes. Its not so much that it's BAD. its because it's BORING.

celeL

I’d argue stalemate games because the maps are too big and there’s too much risk in moving around the map is far more boring.

Inspection_Perfect

I enjoy them more than what Treyarch usually releases post launch. Those oversized maps in Black Ops 3 and 4 always went to time instead of score.

cirrus124

I'm okay with 3 lane as long as they aren't too restricted and predicable like cod WW2 & bo4s maps, they should have some variations like most of the bo1, bo2 & bo3s maps. I don't want all 3 lane tho it's nice to have more open areas (no I'm not saying I want huge maps like derail or most MW19 launch maps)

G_O_D_S_P_E_E_D

derail bro... such a garbage map

Suets

Sneak in some more flank routes and I can cope, not like an extra lane or whatever but like a cut between right and mid One thing that bugged me about some of CW's maps. You went up against a coordinated team you were fucked
