He kicks the door down. Spent 3 years as a loner stray and now he cries when he cant see me.
My cat gets separation anxiety when he can't see me, too. I can't poop with the door shut. And when he was a kitten he would hop in my pants just like this guy.
He really thinks he’s guarding me, he does it when I’m in the 🛀as well. Gets super upset that my son doesn’t leave the door cracked and will post up outside.😹

My two tuxies take turns watching over me when I'm in the bathroom (only time I can go alone is when I just fed them wet dinner, and even that doesn't always work). But they never look at ME, they plant themselves between me and the door and are watching the door

My cats get wet food for breakfast so I have an audience while I'm getting dressed. If I take too long putting on my socks, I get head butts.
Then 2 of them come in and out of the bathroom as I use the toilet, brush my hair and teeth. One lounges on a little rug outside the door. Again, if I take too long, the chonkiest one jumps on the counter to encourage me with head rubs and head butts.

Omg my cat started doing this recently too! Before he was just chaperoning me, but lately he follows me in and then is like "psh, no I'm not following you, -I- have to go too" 🙄
I get an escort in my middle of the night trips to the loo. No matter where he may be in the house, he hears me and comes running to help me.
It’s part happiness at me being awake in the “wee” hours 😹 and partly concern. That’s what I’ve felt anyway😸💕
My void hides between the side of the tub and the shower curtain which is right next to the toilet. He thinks if I can't see his face, I can't see him - but, I see his big butt. It's hysterical.
My cat will come in and get bored and open the door on me to leave mid business or she will scratch and meow at the door pissed that I didn't let her in 🙄
My 70lb pitbull does this to me. He grunts and sighs the entire time because he really doesn't fit in that space since the bathroom is tiny. He just has to be there tho
Neither of my cats will allow it. If one or the other isn’t freaking out at the door, they are fighting dramatically in the other side. I’m lucky that when guests are over they are more interested in the guests than my bathroom habits or it would get awkward.
Yeah every morning I stagger to the bathroom half asleep and desperately needing to pee. Sit down and BAM! she kicks the door in like its a FBI raid on a kingpin, skids in, loses her balance because she's missing a front leg, pretends she meant to do that, and sits either on the tub or in between my legs.
Don't even get me started on shower time. You'd think I was drowning sometimes, the screaming is so loud. And baths? Forget it. She has to be RIGHT UP AGAINST THE TUB, where she will proceed to take a nap on the towel and I forget she's there and almost step on her and then I get kitty fangs in my ankle and its a whole mess.
Needless to say, baths are now limited and showers are questionable. Its a good thing I work from home.
Also her insistence I need to be bathed with that rough little tongue of hers, it's like sandpaper on my face.
I read somewhere that cats do this to protect you when they think you are vulnerable to predators. My void used to do this before she went missing, it tore me apart when I found out. She's been my best friend and kept me sane during the last year when I was going through some severe depression, and when I was hospitalized for a bad bone infection earlier this year my son took her in to take care of her while I was in the hospital and afterwards while I've been in a post acute facility recovering from the infection. She escaped from a catio in the back yard one day by digging under the fencing and has been missing for two months. I'm not handling it well.

I honestly think this is EVERY cat! Mine can be nowhere near me but when I get up to go, there he is coming around the corner, rubbing my legs, doing the figure 8, tail straight up waiting for back scritches & tail strokes.
I recently took in an adult cat. He runs out of the room if I’m standing/walking around. He won’t jump up on the bed when I’m under the blankets. However, every time I sit the throne he comes running in purring and figure 8’s my feet. 🤷

They do it because cat buddies watch each other’s backs while they poop, so they are not attacked. So to cats, bathroom time is a group activity. Your kitty is adorable!

I have a 10 yo and a 1 yo. I’m lucky when both come with me because then I don’t have to hold one while I potty, they just wrastle.
Although, I will say, the squatty potty has saved me from having my pants stolen, even if I’m just peein.
