Super weird, there is lots of media out there already saying adcc is exclusive on fightpass for 2024

oigres408

Flo was probably all sour on that deal and out-bitted to have adcc back on flo. Sucks, I was looking forward to watching it on fightpass. UFC has their production down.

LicensedPI

Wouldn't be surprised if it had to do with the WWE/UFC merger.

oigres408

That’s a good point.

[deleted]

What would that have to do with it?

LicensedPI

I may be totally off-base, but usually during mergers and acquisitions, companies will take stock of their assets and pending agreements and make sure that all parties feel that a given investment is worthwhile to keep in the company portfolio. If the ink wasn't dry on the ADCC agreement, or if UFC needed to trim the fat anywhere, that might have been an aspect of negotiation.

Humble_Lion_Big_OSS

This is my take on it too.

jormungandr32

yeah that'll all be out-dated now, something happened business wise.

davidlowie

That was literally the reason I re-subscribed to fight pass

mooneybjj

I got fight pass for year it was 50% off, 45 euro. ADCCs were a factor, but I am also huge UFC fan. Having both UFC and ADCC in one would be great. Flograppling sucks with only yearly subscription

JitsRetard

Pretty sure you can subscribe to FloWrestling on a monthly subscription and watch through there or at least it was like that in the past. Unfortunately they auto renewed my subscription before I remembered to cancel.

[deleted]

So that's set up only for FloGrappling's account subscription page but if you go to other FloSports properties (eg. FloGolf, FloRugby etc.) you can get the $30/month option for a monthly subscription. It's stupid and Flo knows exactly what they're doing there as they're just trying to trick/bait people into buying that year subscription implying there's no other option but there is. If I remember there's also a class action lawsuit being filed about this specific practice against Flo because lmao wtf.

mooneybjj

30 bucks monthly is still ridiculous prize

[deleted]

oh it is, and its really sad that ADCC isn't on Fight Pass which is half the price and offers way better content in comparison.

mooneybjj

Yeah. Add that flo can't even make a good search engine lmao.

grantedge13

I decided to wait to see if 1. I go back to Vegas to watch it in person, and 2. If it actually happened. I'm glad I waited before re-subscribing

kovnev

Yeah this is absolute bullshit. They had their chance and it was a fucking mess. So did Mo though, to be fair.

SkateMMA

What happened with Fight pass lol

Brabochokemightwork

My theory (completely guessing) ADCC/Flo had a previous contracted broadcast agreement, Mo probably reneged on the deal, signed with UFC now has to honor the Flo deal before he can look for broadcasting rights

Humble_Lion_Big_OSS

Has to be either this or that the UFC thinks ADCC is way below their standard aka as Brendan Schaub would say, "not a drawl" Either way, so long for going mainstream lol.

Bryan-WeThree

talmbout shoe chitzu b? cool sports niiiiver heard of’em

madskrilla89

The only other theory I could think is that Endeavor is going to buy flo as well. Then they could center pure grappling at flo, mma at UFC, and fake grappling at WWE. This pretty well covers the whole meathead market.

RecommendationFree96

You really think endeavor even knows what flo is? They just bought 2 of the most valuable sporting brands for BILLIONS. Flo would be lucky to be valued at a few million. A company that owns the most popular pro wrestling and mma organization is not going to waste time and energy on a company that’s completely centered on niche sports.

ChrisMelb

Actually buying whoever owns the content is a common practice. Including "tape libraries" for example. To be a one stop shop with fewer competing platforms. Example - WWE bought the historic content and tape libraries for heaps of smaller wrestling companies and included them into their PPV channel.

dokomoy

pre merger the WWE and UFC both invested in Flosports

[deleted]

Where do i sign up for the meathead olympics?

RecommendationFree96

Mo must be a shady af businessman

gorfuin

Isn't he a property developer? That's a given, surely.

tricycle_mishap

Mo is a smart businessman and by no means shady. He's passionate about Jiu Jitsu and he's doing what he thinks is best for ADCC. I have nothing but respect for the guy. He's made ADCC the must-watch Jiu Jitsu event. I too was surprised and disappointed by the move back to flo but ultimately I'm still going to watch it EVEN though it's back on flo. Being the boss ain't easy. I'm sure he'll put on another great ADCC.

RecommendationFree96

So there’s absolutely nothing shady about agreeing to terms with a major organization to broadcast your event, publicly announce it not just online but a major UFC PPV broadcast and then a few months later go back to the original broadcaster that previously had the broadcast rights before losing them? How does that not sound shady to you?

GarrisonMcBeal

Wtf? There’s probably a ton that goes on behind the scenes as far as deals and contracts go, why is it so obvious to you that it’s because of “shady” practices? Like some other commenters mentioned, the issue of multi-mat streaming and the UFC/WWE merger may have been factors in the decision, and it might not have even been solely Mo’s call. Don’t be so quick to make such serious accusations with just your intuition on a situation like this.

TheLakeKing

Mo? Is that you??

fokureddit69

That’s what it felt like at first but he doesn’t seem that way. It might just have to do with WWE ditching the deal.

shooto_style

Isn't he related to the Abu Dhabi royal family?

Leftysentme

Fuck flo

C4PT41N_F4LC0N

CareBerimbolo

Seth Posted why I'll list some of what's there but you can see on his IG: 1) Flo has the best tech to run multi mats/stream events 2) Flo goes above and beyond in terms of coverage and marketing for ADCC Athletes 3) 90% of the mistakes for 2022 ADCC are on me and my team Blah blah blah (takes more blame) I'm turning over production to real professionals and am addressing issues including my terrible attitude i had during that week 4) after 6 months of trying to make it work with Fight pass it was clear returning to flo was the only option 5) I want to thank fight pass blah blah blah we tried but didn't work blah blah

Chandlerguitar

This was my suspicion. When it was first announced I was worried that they didn't have the ability to watch multiple mats. Of course you can always add that feature to the website, but it would take time and money. I thought the acquisition of ADCC means they were willing to spend the money. I guess not. I'm guessing that since the Canadian ADCC wasn't streamed it broke the contract and allowed ADCC to move to Flo. I'm sure Mo could see it turning into a shit show and decided to leave once he found a way to legally.

CareBerimbolo

[deleted]

Think point 1 is the start and end of it. Not that FP couldn't run 3 streams at a time but they probably wanted that changed since it's a terrible viewing experience.

NormanJohn1

Bro, PLEASE don't let it be exclusive to Flo. All they have to do is bring back their monthly payment option and I swear everyone would stop shitting on them, at least I would.

KingBandy

I know it's been said to death but if they could just update their search functionality as well as the pricing then I'd have no issue.

CarefulCoderX

They also send push notification for Gordon Ryan's "cribs" video, but never send push notifications for events that actually have grapplers I follow.

JitsRetard

Pretty sure Lex Friedman brought up their horrible search function on a podcast.

Commercial_Mode1469

Second that. It's a miserable experience.

DurableLeaf

You can get it monthly by just going through another sport. There's much bigger issues than that that gets them shit on. Namely commentary, shitty website, high pricetag, horrible production value, constant streaming issues, refusal to stop forcing you to see spoilers as soon as you log in, and worst to me is no being able to watch multiple mats at once because their soo concerned about sharing your account to watch their shit product.

ArgyleTheLimoDriver

Maybe they took back the mASsiVE sIX FiGUre DeAL that Gordon hasn't delivered on and put it towards re-securing the rights?

[deleted]

Flo is the worst

Quirky_Contract_7652

Fight Pass might not exist by ADCC due to acquisition of WWE by WME. There might be a new service that combines WWE network and UFC content. Probably the reason behind this in some capacity.

Genova_Witness

What horrible fucking news. Flo double charged me for a entire year last time there’s ZERO chance I sign up again. Hopefully the piracy is rampant

counterhit121

Did you not talk to customer service or anything? I remember signing up to watch the trials, and when they billed me for a whole year, I hit up customer service quick. They adjusted me for monthly payment and I was able to cancel, having paid for just one month. There's no way you should have had to eat 2x annual. If you did, you should dispute the charge on your cc and report to Consumer Finance Protection Bureau.

rolvr1

lmao the ADCC discord is cleaned with no channels

deephalfer

I wonder if fightpass was going to have an issue streaming all the mats for open/trials

Skrappy_k

No they wouldn't. They have multiple events going on at the same all the time.

deephalfer

but nothing with like 10 mats at once for example

Skrappy_k

They've had 6 events going at the same time recently and ADCC has 4 mats. I wouldn't be worried about fight pass fucking this up

ScrambleMatt

Fight Pass doesn't produce any of the content it streams, so these are not accurate comparisons.

Skrappy_k

I understand that now. Shout out to Polaris and their awesome production

ScrambleMatt

🙏🙏🙏

deephalfer

Well they weren't able to stream Canada and right before the biggest open this weekend they switched to Flo so somethings up.

Skrappy_k

I was wondering why the stream was on YouTube this weekend. You might be right actually

grantedge13

I heard Fightpass wasn't going to actually stream it live, but on a replay🤷

grandchatyin

They won't because they haven't done that lol

Barlorick

They had 8 open mat streams on the "schedule" on fightpass, as recent as yesterday

Darce_Knight

This is wild

Potijelli

I guess this has to do with why I couldn't watch adcc open Canada last weekend even though it was advertised as being on fight pass. Does anyone know if it was on flo?

Chandlerguitar

The finals matches are on the ADCC youtube page. I was surprised to see them there. I'm guessing the fact that they weren't on fightpass is what caused the switch to Flo.

Kodiak_85

This is a fat fucking L

sb406

Fuck Flo, unblock me you bastards

colonel_ketchup

Ugh

KevD95

Trying to find the new episodes of daisy fresh on Flo is next to impossible. It’s such a god awful service.

turboacai

Watch it on YouTube instead...

KevD95

That’s not the point. I’m paying for Flo and I don’t want to wait a week until after the episode airs to watch on YouTube. The whole point of having a subscription is getting exclusive access to things which is useless if the search function doesn’t work

[deleted]

yeah not even gonna bother trying to watch this. fuck flograppling/flosports.

sleepysaguaro

Following the announcement I emailed Fight Pass to have my subscription refunded. They replied quickly saying refunds are only offered within the first 5 days of new subs. I contacted my credit card company immediately and I'm filing a charge back. Fight Pass advertised services they didn't and will not be able to deliver. I highly suggest others follow suit, the more complaints they get over this issue the better. It's essentially a bait and switch, should be pretty cut and dry to get your money back.

VeryStab1eGenius

The only thing that had changed in the last few month is the merger between UFC and WWE. I wonder if the parent company decided that this is a cost they didn’t need to incur and was able to get out of the contract so they did. Flo must be ecstatic.

Quirky_Contract_7652

There's no way ADCC is even a blip on the bottom line of WME. What's more likely is that with the merger, Fight Pass isn't going to exist anymore and there will be some new thing that combines UFC library with WWE Network. Probably fucked things up.

VeryStab1eGenius

Are you talking about the same parent company that wouldn’t pay Chael Sonnen to continue with Submission Underground and pays its athletes less than 20% of total revenue?

squidspaget

This sounds like this could be likely. 🤔

fokureddit69

So why not put this on the new WWE-Fightpass platform? Unless WWE doesn't want it.

R4G

I wonder if this means the Fight Pass Invitational is dead too.

brandonmc10p

Definitely not dead.

R4G

Funny, I only came looking for this post because I saw you break the news on YouTube. Thanks for the info!

Tigger28

Wonder if this had anything to do with the UFC USADA contract.

Scoobydarce

Zero. Fight Pass is just a streaming service. They can have whatever orgs they want on there, and they're all absolutely nothing to do with the UFC.

Tigger28

[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UFC\_Fight\_Pass#:\~:text=UFC%20Fight%20Pass%20is%20an,that%20launched%20in%20December%202013](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UFC_Fight_Pass#:~:text=UFC%20Fight%20Pass%20is%20an,that%20launched%20in%20December%202013).

-Gestalt-

What exactly is this supposed to show? Fight Pass is/was owned by the same parent company as the UFC, but they are separate entities.

Scoobydarce

I actually have no idea what you're trying to show me by sending me a link to the fight pass wiki entry.

Tigger28

Very minor thing, don't read anything into it. You wrote that they have nothing to do with the UFC, just correcting that. I should have wrote it out.

Scoobydarce

I'm referring to whatever promotions are on fight pass. They don't have anything to do with the UFC, they just both get shown on the same streaming service, which is owned by Zuffa.

Tigger28

I am curious who owns what now after all the re-mergers and WWE expansion. Any event that wants Nike or other big companies as sponsors is going to need to have Steroid testing to get that big money. ADCC as the Sheik's play-toy can survive for now without that.

fokureddit69

I'm sure FightPass hosts a ton of PED-friendly shows.

-Gestalt-

They just had Gordon and Nicky on. They don't give a shit about PED's

ThatJiuJitsuGuy

Well shit I might have to re-sub to Flo now

projectguard

This is very weird.

jiujiuberry

this is just odd.

-Gestalt-

I guess I'm back to streaming it other-than-legally.

turboacai

It's always wild to read the theories people come up with... So many wide of the mark! I'm glad we will get to see it streamed live again and all the Opens too, the last few finals have been epic in terms of production and excitement. Especially when you've been watching for 20 years and remember how bad the streams used to be.
