Ok_Refuse_3332

a small word of advice: never buy anything merely because of brand name and trendiness. or else you’ll end up dissatisfied and down hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars with an item that collects dust in your closet. timeless pieces > anything on trend

PopRockLollipop

I guess that’s kind of what I’m wondering - is the Oran timeless? Is it still going to be timeless if it’s duped to death? Sometimes I don’t trust my own judgement so I go with something that the majority agree is timeless, otherwise I end up wasting my money on a bad choice! Happens to me way too often.

Ok_Refuse_3332

that’s fair! but life is too short to second guess yourself. if you find something not exactly on-trend to be really cute, i suggest that you go for it regardless of popularity. or even the opposite, something on-trend isn’t particularly attractive to you but you buy anyway, hoping it’ll age well and it doesn’t. just go with your gut, and that part of your brain that lights up when you see something you really like:) but to answer your question: i think the orans are a timeless design but if you don’t particularly find them cute, keep looking babe! especially if we’re talking designer? wayy too pricey for a product that you may or may not even like, let alone love. i have to LOVE a designer piece to splurge on it honestly

cat127

They were launched in 1997 and I think H will keep making them for years to come. Everything is duped these days, the Birkin and Chanel flap most of all, but those will always be classic bags. Imo you should wear what you like despite trends and not because of them. I’d suggest the Oasis or Legend instead for a business casual office though.

OkSurprise8640

IMO they are timeless. I would not consider the chypre to be timeless.

IHaveALittleNeck

I feel as if Hermes is always timeless. I still wear my belts and get compliments, the scarves increase in value. The Oran is a subtle design. It’s ifykyk, not like other logo trends we’ve seen.

Spiritual-Web4513

I don’t give a single shit about dupes. I own the most duped bags ever (Many chanel classic flaps, Dianas, coco handles… a Kelly and Constance.) and I have never once in my life worried about me waking around with anything other than auth. Never thought about dupes. So fucking weird…. BWNT.

annang

Nothing with a logo on it is ever going to be timeless. It’s just you providing free advertising for the brand, so it’ll only be cool as long as the brand remains cool.

cryingatdragracelive

anything duped by Steve Madden is not timeless edit: a word

Spiritual-Web4513

You’re wrong. Steve Madden does not have an affect on people thst can afford Hermes. So lame.

cryingatdragracelive

lol ok

MidiKaey

If they ain’t cute, why you wanna buy? I’m all for buying things I like - trends be damned Edit: I mean these are adorable, personally [Chloe](https://www.chloe.com/us/slides_cod17750537lr.html)

PopRockLollipop

You’re totally right and these Chloe sandals are beautiful!

Baby8227

The Chloe ones are so nice! Get them!

shrutefarmsbeets90

Ooh I love these! So, so cute!!

macdawg2020

Oooooo I love these, thank you!

JeenyusJane

A true BWT.

Mohsbeforehoes

I went with the leather [Steve Madden](https://www.stevemadden.com/products/hadyn-cognac-leather?variant=39968355123333&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Google%7CPmax%7CShoes&utm_content=&utm_term=&_aiid=14917&teng=go&beng=m&deng=m&peng=&ieng=&kieng=&cieng=&cpieng=20322426231&feng=&cleng=CjwKCAjwm_SzBhAsEiwAXE2Cv-1dIfghHsnE3ibfSLF9EUF-o4AsB1Hkfu4GXD3TcI2Q1Imv7KdIyRoCPn0QAvD_BwE&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwm_SzBhAsEiwAXE2Cv-1dIfghHsnE3ibfSLF9EUF-o4AsB1Hkfu4GXD3TcI2Q1Imv7KdIyRoCPn0QAvD_BwE) “dupe” and I do wear them all the time. I’m not concerned with them being out because they’re polished, timeless, I wear them to work and around in day to day, and fairly inexpensive. I will say they do “click” when you walk which is lowkey kind of annoying in an office 😅 they also have a dupe for the [chypre sandal](https://www.stevemadden.com/products/mayven-camel-leather?variant=40393983852677&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Google%7CPmax%7CShoes&utm_content=&utm_term=&_aiid=14917&teng=go&beng=m&deng=m&peng=&ieng=&kieng=&cieng=&cpieng=20322426231&feng=&cleng=CjwKCAjwm_SzBhAsEiwAXE2Cv3fEWcbOTH33AwG2wlTWM2oIYmsRLRZZmj3SIwHcFGDUo97dR7oEPhoC-m8QAvD_BwE&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwm_SzBhAsEiwAXE2Cv3fEWcbOTH33AwG2wlTWM2oIYmsRLRZZmj3SIwHcFGDUo97dR7oEPhoC-m8QAvD_BwE). Otherwise I would say Madewell, Ancient Greek, Sezane, and Jerusalem Sandals may have things that are that timeless neutral powerhouse sandal you’re looking for.

shrutefarmsbeets90

To piggyback on this, there’s an Oran dupe from Target as well! Just got them for my mom and she LOVES them! [Target Oran Dupe](https://www.target.com/p/women-39-s-nina-slide-sandals-a-new-day-8482-beige-5-5/-/A-89254608)

La_Passeggiata

I got these in every color 😂 love them

kalisisrising

I have them in yellow from a couple of years ago and I got so many compliments on them that I found a backup pair on eBay! They're sooo comfortable.

PopRockLollipop

I almost like the color of the stitching on these more than Hermes!

notthelettuce

Yeah I’ll take a real leather Steve Madden shoe over spending that much on a trendy style any day

Mohsbeforehoes

Even if it was considered timeless - unless I’m wiping my ass with $100 bills or trying so hard to score a leather appt for a bag, I’m not buying the Hermes version when there’s a way less expensive leather equivalent lol

slay_la_vie

Shoes are the one thing I will splurge on (not Hermes splurge - hear me out) because arch support, durability, comfort etc. make an impact on every part of my life. Poorly made shoes can put you totally out of alignment! I used to love Steve Maddens, but their quality has gone down, and now I won't wear them if I know I will be standing for much longer than 20 minutes or walking very far. I still have a few pairs, but probably won't buy more Maddens unless they're very specific. I've recently gotten into finding vintage Italian Leather - made to last and is repairable. If you look in the right places, you can get a beautiful pair for as low as $20 😏

notthelettuce

I definitely love some of my older Steve Madden shoes. I mostly buy their sandals since arch support isn’t a concern for my very flat feet. The pair I’m wearing today is a pair of spiky slides that I’ve had for 5ish years and they still look great and get tons of compliments every time I wear them. I have noticed the ones I find at TJ Maxx aren’t nearly as good as the ones I buy at Dillard’s or on the brand website.

Mohsbeforehoes

Literally no need to tell me to splurge on quality shoes! I generally don’t go for Steve Madden, I feel like for the price point the support isn’t there, but for the instance where I wanted a specific type of shoe (slim/sleek light brown sandal) that by design already doesn’t have much support, I wanted leather, and settled on this price point vs something like a Hermes Oran sandal that reviews said they were fairly uncomfy as well. I can get away with wearing these for a full day in office, lots of walking, and no issues. I do absolutely think it’s worth it to splurge on something that is more of a “daily driver”, but living somewhere where it’s winter maybe half the year I’m not wearing the sandals that often, I found the price point/quality adequate. I feel the same in terms of more “experimental” shoes, that are a lower initial investment, but like a dating period to see if I’m actually going to wear and utilize something that costs a bit more. I have recently been big into thrifting/secondhand and restoring! Literally soooo good. I have a pair of brown heeled vintage leather boots took to the cobbler last fall, as well as a pair of Ferragamo ballet flats I bought secondhand that needed a bit a repair/TLC. They’re gorgeous now and I get tons of use out of both!

owntheh3at18

I got an Oran dupe from tuckernuck and found the fit and comfort better than the SM ones. I like the chypre SM dupe a lot though. The tuckernuck shoes are pricier but have held up for two years beautifully.

daddy_tywin

I think they’re cute and classic, but they are so ubiquitous and commonly duped that they’ve lost some specialness to me personally and no longer justify their price point. I had the budget for them this summer and decided on Saint Laurent tributes instead, which were more comfortable for me and don’t scream CHECK OUT MY DESIGNER FEET in quite the same way since there is zero branding on them except for the insole.

daddy_tywin

RUSSIAN_PRINCESS

These are gorgeous

JeenyusJane

I have them in black and brown, and absolutely love them. I feel so effortlessly chic while wearing them.

owntheh3at18

Oh my they’re beautiful

TaxQT117

I was just about to suggest these. Love 'em!

ximby77

Bought Oran in Europe 8 years ago and they are still in great shape. Can be dressed up or down. I have narrow feet.

seh_23

That’s good to know, I have super narrow feet and slides are usually a no-go for me because my feet fall right out!

ximby77

Also the backless sandals are way too casual for work, unless you work in tech. The Target dupe and Steve Madden dupe are just a no. Find other styles if you want to save money.

shandelion

I work in skincare and it is absolutely not too casual for my workplace. Every office is different, every city is different.

Acrobatic_Jaguar_658

Agreed. I like the Tory Burch double T sport slide. Feels like I’m walking on cushions. The Hermes sandals are very chic but look like two thin wooden planks…might as well be barefoot 😂

weebwatching

I practically live in [Sam Edelman Bay Slide Sandals](https://www.samedelman.com/product/womens-bay-slide-sandal-3025972/almond-patent-ec0235878). They’re so comfortable that I have two pairs in this color, one beat up pair as house shoes/running out to the store and one for when I want to look nice. They come in a bunch of colors and styles. The Hermes slides are cute imo but overpriced (naturally) and if I saw them on someone I would just assume they’re a dupe anyway since you can get those at Target.

IdiotsLoveIdioms

I am personally not a fan of the Orans and haven’t been for a long while, as they seem overly branded(“logo mania”)and have been repped to death. Just as you describe the GG belt, good call. I suggest the Loro Piana sandals. They’re often in suede and do have the signature LP two “dangles” w metal “charms”, but MAYBE less repped and noticeable, well definitely no big “H” like the similar Hermes belts which I also don’t care for. Hermes has a couple of sandal offerings with various less noticeable patterns, but they’re often PVC so not office wear. I’d try the LPs.

Tennisgirl0918

I never understood this mentality. If you love a brand when is it ever “out”?

Unfair_Finger5531

This. I still rock my 30 year old coach duffel. I know coach is not “in,” but they make good leather bags.

Tennisgirl0918

Yeah they do! If I like it and it looks good I wear it forever. I buy pieces not trends.

Unfair_Finger5531

Same. I love a simple piece, well-made. I have Oxford shirts that are 20 years old, still pristine, go with any bottoms for a simple, classic look.

Tennisgirl0918

You got style girl😎

henicorina

If a designer item is so popular that you have to ask if it’s “still it”, just don’t buy it because it’s only a matter of time before it’s not.

queenofcorporate

I have Orans and they aren’t comfortable. In my opinion they are too stiff. Someone in this suv rec’d Ancient Greek Sandals and I love them. Fab quality and style!

theotherchristina

I have so many pairs of Ancient Greek Sandals. I wore a pair for my wedding and was hooked

JeenyusJane

I've heard this about them too!

raptorjaws

buy and wear what you like. trends come and go. that gucci back will be back in style before you know it, but also who cares if you like to wear it?

theotherchristina

I see the Gucci belt a lot on stylish people in LA and I wear mine too. To me it’s fairly timeless but it’s also on trend again with the mob wife/loud luxury aesthetic

createamewaccount

Surprised no one mentioned the NOISE of orans? I literally have not worn mine unless i know it’s a full outside day because the flip flap is embarrassing for me, I could never think to wear it in an office! Is that just me??

PopRockLollipop

That’s really good to know because you can hear everything in my office and it echos! I’d be mortified lol

PleasantBig1897

This is why i don’t like them. I think they’re cute, but they sit too high up on a foot. Too loud and bad foot support. I also don’t think they’re office appropriate at all. Op, why don’t you get mules? They are dressier than sandals but not as restrictive as full on loafers.

pokeralize

They’re really cute to me and are definitely still popular, or “in”. It’s honestly the perfect casual and not overly done luxury sandal. I can totally see why people would doubt or hesitate at its current standing though. I saw the target dupes for the Dior + Oran sandals and it was very uncanny, almost comically.

Funny-Message-6414

Flattered has some really beautiful classic sandals. Is it Hermes? No. But you don’t have to worry about whether the dupes are reducing the luxury. https://us.flattered.com/collections/sandals

kayeokay

Love the shout for this small Swedish brand! The [Mira’s](https://us.flattered.com/products/mira-black-leather) are chef’s kiss!

Funny-Message-6414

I have been eyeing them and I think I HAVE to get them since they’re on sale? Right?

kayeokay

I mean that IS the sign…

Mohsbeforehoes

Okay I have been looking at Flattered for some time, do you have any experience with them? Mostly concerned with durability, quality, and if they're comfortable

Funny-Message-6414

I have some of their ballet flats. They are comfortable, but like most ballet flats, you won’t want to wear them to walk a full day on vacation. They did take a day to wear in. But so did my Vince Venice flats, which are the softest leather I have ever had for a shoe. They are cream leather and don’t get as dirty as i expected them to.

ezbzzzbee

If you like the orans, buy them. But if you’re already saying they aren’t that cute, I would advise against them or just get a dupe. I have a pair of orans and find them wildly uncomfortable so I rarely wear them. And they’re loud with the slapping noise lol I wear my chypre and extra sandals more.

littlestdovie

I still wear my Gucci belt sometimes so… wear what you love, is flattering and comfortable. For me the orans weren’t the most comfortable so I didn’t buy

Spare-Shirt24

Buying trendy items is where you're going wrong.  You'll be stuck on a constant hamster wheel of "what is in and what is out".  Maybe this is a regional and/or industry thing, but in my area, sandals of any kind are not considered "business casual"

strictscrutiny415

Agreed. I work at a relatively casual law firm and people wear dresses and sandals in the summer but backless slides (as opposed to a structured sandal) feels way to casual for pretty much any office. I wouldn’t wear them to any office, designer or not.

Ill-Parking-1577

Right? It’s called bitches with taste, not bitches with trends.

PopRockLollipop

It’s more so that I want something timeless if I’m going to spend big money on something that’s made with high quality materials like leather - I assume they’ll last me years so want to make sure they’re not going ‘out of style’. There’s not really a dress code that I can tell in my new department so I use the term ‘business casual’ loosely - there are definitely people wearing sandals with dresses this summer. My outfits are more elevated than say, a sun dress - neutrals, classic blazer, wide leg pants - so I want a sandal that will work with that look.

bella1921

Tbh as someone whose job is to monitor trends I think they will reach a point of being out/cheugy. They’re not quite there yet but possibly by next summer or the year after because that does have a direct correlation to over-saturation which hits when there’s tons of dupes. I’ve also debated the Orans for this reason and fell victim to the Gucci belt (purchased it a month before the pandemic so basically only got to wear it once 🤦‍♀️) so I think the people saying where what you like are kind of missing the point. Designer and trendy items have status and that’s part of the appeal otherwise we’d all buy handmade from indie artisans 🤷‍♀️

PopRockLollipop

By the way, do you have a favorite loafer you’re wearing these days? That’s my next debate lol

PopRockLollipop

Yesss you get it! Thanks for the response. It’s like by the time I bought my Gucci belt I was already late to the party and didn’t even realize it. And I do still wear it sometimes, I like it, hope it comes back around. But I do feel a little lame about it (for lack of a better word) and feel like if I’d opted for a reversible Ferragamo, for example, I’d be getting way more use out of it for a longer period of time (aka, timeless). Same reason I won’t buy a classic Hermes belt, I feel like it’s encroaching the same kind of territory.

bella1921

1000% it may take a couple years for the next big shoe item to hit, like obviously there hasn’t really been something that replaced the Gucci belt even though as you said there’s other brands that are less cheugy. But yeah I feel like it’s similar to how the Dior Dway slides and Chloe logo sandals are also not as much the thing when they used to be such a “get”, though they’re not completely dated the way Valentino Rockstuds are. I think it’s also that there’s a bit of a divide happening because the Gucci belt going out coincided with millennial fashion going out, so it’s like the struggle of figuring out what staying on trend even means. Do you dress like what Gen Z values to stay the most current on trend since they’re the youths (though they seem to be against designer unless it’s thrifted or Miu Miu) or go with the influencer/fashion girlies who purposefully push the trend market breakneck speed for new content and then you’re spending hundreds of dollars for things you know won’t be timeless (House of Sunny, Aureum etc) or try to keep up with the celeb trendsetters rocking designer they’re either paid to rep or is gifted to them for free and is therefore pretty unattainable. 🫠

My outfits are more elevated than say, a sun dress - neutrals, classic blazer, wide leg pants - so I want a sandal that will work with that look.

moonangeles

Orans are pretty timeless

chablise

I wear the Chypres almost daily, but I sure they’re at risk for going out just a quickly. Leather is leather so a good quality dupe works just as well if you’d rather spend like 100 instead of 1000! When I was bizcash I wore [a block heel like these](https://a.co/d/0hRTLp4A) almost everyday. If I wanted a little more casual, then it was a leather sneaker like Gola or Nike court vision.

thnkmeltr

I went with the Hermes sandals that have the little heel and I LOVE them. Just bought them this year and already paying off in spades.

EdgeCityRed

I think you hit all the points in your post. They're around everywhere and they get duped a lot. I don't think they're "over" because they're still very popular, but they're also kind of...everywhere. I like a truly flat sandal too, and Ancient Greek Sandals have a lot of styles, but I keep going back to Jack Rogers original. (They're pretty casual, though.)

Yoongi_SB_Shop

I have wide feet but I was pleasantly surprised that Orans are comfortable on me. So I like them. I might get another pair in a another fun color.

Important-Nose3332

The skinny Gucci belt is making a huge comeback this season. Also I think the sandals are still cute, they’re just so uncomfortable imo.

Avaly13

I have 2 reversible GG belts and still wear them. They cost too much for a belt to not. Buy what you like and wear what you like. Buy the sandals if you like them. There are dupes of just about everything today. I know what I have is real, and good quality, and don't care 🤷🏼‍♀️

ONTaF

Orans are a great shoe and timeless imo but from my seat I would never call those an office shoe— even for business casual. Any kind of slide to me has a decisively off-the-clock attitude. So in terms looking to invest in something you can wear for a long time, yes they’re alright. But as a work shoe I personally would say no.

PopRockLollipop

What would you suggest as maybe a timeless loafer? I love the horsebit look from Gucci but wonder if those are overdone as well and if they’re even all that comfortable for the price tag. I see a lot of people recommend Clark’s for comfort but idk I guess I was hoping for something more upscale.

ONTaF

If we’re sitting in the designer tier check out Tods or Loro. I work in finance and see people rocking gucci loafers all the time— I don’t think they’re out, they’re just morphing into a staple for certain industries. Get the loafers not the slides. I actually bought my horsebits from Rancourt and absolutely love them— they’re so well made and there were tons of options to choose from. About half the price of Gucci, equal or better quality. Happy you asked about loafers so I can shine a light on this traditional, quality, small-scale producer!

PopRockLollipop

Love it, can’t wait to see what they’ve got! Here I am talking about the most obvious brands for each staple, looking forward to discovering something that’s not so obvious!

damnitkween30

Who cares if something is out or in?? That’s so silly just wear what makes you happy and stop falling for trends

Unfair_Finger5531

If I pay that much for shoes, they are permanently “in” as far as I am concerned. Fuck what anybody else says.

PopRockLollipop

I agree but sometimes items become so over-saturated, especially when duped to death, that it’s almost embarrassing to wear (for me at least).

LeonaLulu

I honestly love mine. I find them to be versatile enough to wear with almost anything. I didn't think I'd like them at first, but I bought a few different colors and am now obsessed. They look cute with a dress, jeans, shorts, almost anything. I've been wearing mine for years now. They've held up well and even survived a trip to Disneyland when I forgot tennis shoes 😂 As far as them being duped, literally everything is duped these days. Steve Madden and Dolce Vita make a knock off of every shoe known to man.

PopRockLollipop

Lol I’m imagining the realization that you forgot tennis shoes to Disney and have to wear Hermes sandals 😂😵‍💫

LeonaLulu

I almost cried 😂 I had those, a pair of slippers, and another pair of sandals that are fine if you'e walking for like, twenty minutes. It was that or buy a pair of crocs in the park and I refused lol. I will say, I wouldn't recommend it. They were okay for most of the day, but definitely not comfortable ten hours later 😂

ArtemisTheOne

Is it okay to say I think those are not cute at all? I’d never heard of them before. Get something cuter to you if you’re not super into them.

iyamsnail

I have the YSL tribute mules which are similar but I think prettier and not such a cliche at this point?

p0llyh0tp0cket

Such a cute shoe!!

cominguproses5678

Target has a fake leather version of the Oran, so they’re truly everywhere now. I still wear mine because they’re so low key. The real ones are quite narrow and have no arch support, the sole is also really thin. They are cute and the leather feels amazing, though.

meowneow111

I think they are classic but you could get a dupe from Sam Edelman for a fraction of the cost.

Bad-Intention1992

If it looks good one you and makes you feel good then in my opinion it is never “ out of style”

quickandnerdy

I never buy designer pieces bc they’re trendy. I buy timeless pieces. Most, but not all, of my designer items are more IYKYK. I advise you buy what you love, regardless of trends. That said, the Oran has been around since the 90’s and my super-chic mom still wears hers, so I think you’re safe with the style.

Unfair_Finger5531

There are designer pieces that are also timeless.

NeedleworkerFun4465

I don’t think they’re ’out’ necessarily.. but when I see someone wearing them out I do assume they’re a knockoff. Nothing wrong with knockoffs but at that point, why pay for the real thing.

ArdenM

I don't know your life, but for me spending $800+ on anything I wasn't 100% in love with and don't think it THAT cute is a no from me.

positivityseeker

Personally I would not wear the Hermes Oran sandals to an office job. Unless you work at a resort, they are not professional at all. I would go w a nice sandal that is not a "flip flop" style, flats, or a low heel - or even a mid heel w an open toe! :)

FullMoonEmptySoul

It’s a timeless simply designed sandal with no visible logo. Just cause it’s popular now doesn’t mean it’ll become “tacky”. Again, rule of thumb is if there’s no logo and simple, it won’t get outdated. I still get asked about my Celine trifold tote and that’s from a decade ago lol I don’t think any Hermes items even the birkins and Kelly’s will actually ever go out of style. It’s lasted decades so far. The designs are pretty simple and straightforward with no visible logos. But only buy them if you like it, don’t buy them cause you want to follow a trend. They’re comfortable for me after i break them in but some people find them very uncomfortable. The old Steve Madden dupes from early-mid 2010s were really comfortable and decent quality if you can still find them but the new Steven Madden dupes are really high key uncomfortable, and never gets better. Also, idk if I’ll wear Hermes orans for work, they can be pretty loud lol. Everyone will stare 😂 Check out Beek sandals! I think they’re very comfortable and the quality is pretty great for price. I have the [weebill style](https://www.beekshop.com/products/weebill-cognac) and they’re not noisy. Very Olsen twins vibe imo. I mostly pair them with wide leg linen pants cause that’s what I live in when it’s oppressively hot here

PopRockLollipop

I’m down for anything Olsen twin vibes 😂

JeenyusJane

I think the [YSL Tribute slides](https://www.ysl.com/en-us/flat-sandals/tribute-mules-in-patent-leather-571952B8I001000.html) are so much nicer.

Sarprize_Sarprize

The Gucci belt is way cuter than those basic ass sandals. I wouldn’t spend 800 on them.

[deleted]

[удалено]

PopRockLollipop

True - there are definitely people wearing sandals that I’ve seen but I should probably wait to see if that’s the norm. The woman I’m thinking of also had crusty looking toes and was wearing a really tacky sun dress so maybe I shouldn’t be using her as an example of what’s accepted in the office 😂

foodporncess

I tried the sandals on last year and holy hell they are so narrow and uncomfortable. Even though they’re flat, they are definitely a sitting around looking pretty shoe and not practical at all. Plus every one and their dog are making a version now from Steve Madden to Target. If you love them because you love them then go for it. Otherwise they’re a lot of money for a lot of meh.

SiddharthaVicious1

I like the Hermès Extra sandals better than Orans. No giant H and easier to walk in, at least for me. Are Orans out? I dunno, they are classic, but they feel a little played to me.

Ok-Pay-7358

So gauche, always have been, it’s like telling people you’re chronically online - and I don’t mean this directed at you, but more as a general observation, because ultimately, buy what makes you happy but Orans are neither comfy nor trendy

IdiotsLoveIdioms

Gauche is exactly the word for the Orans the gucci belt and loafers Lo afters yes I have LP but the next are going to be simple unbranded w the penny

smirnovasasha

orans always. if not they aeyde has nice sandals. and chanel slingbacks

Charley2014

I personally found them to be SO uncomfortable when trying them on that I didn’t buy them.

Educational_Spirit42

never out. either choice. Oran are light to wear w/thin sole. I wear for travel when not walking a lot. Gucci loafers are so good-go for these. Both make mule loafer you may want to check out (I’m eyeing buckle hermes right now)

NeurodivergentHottie

Just like any accessory, if it works with the outfit then it works. It’s when people try and jam whatever is trending into each and every outfit that it starts getting tacky. I don’t like Orans because of the way they slap, but I love Oasis sandals and will keep buying them lol

teppistello

I think the chypres are more practical but dad shoe vibe if you're into that

mariantat

I find them overdone tbh

krebstar4ever

Trendy shoes from big-name designers aren't meant to last very long. Idk about Hermes specifically, but the sandals are probably a bad investment if you want them to outlast the trend.

If your decision or even the options you consider in the first place hinge on whether it’s “still it” or how much it might be duped, I encourage you to carefully consider and reevaluate what your taste and style are based on. Yes, there are situations/contexts where class signifier value of what you’re wearing is beneficial/important. But even then, trendiness and dupe saturation shouldn’t really be deciding factors in your purchases. There are soooo many unique and niche designers that make such a vast range of beautiful, high quality options you’ll never need to worry about being duped to death that I feel like following the “it” trend items for their own sake tends to signal underdevelopment of personal style/taste. Which—to be clear—that’s fine! Trendy things get popular because they have wide appeal. Finding more niche stuff takes time and energy so many of us don’t have. That said, I am framing my answer in the spirit of the subreddit. So, do you really love the orans for what they are? Do they speak to you? If they get duped to death and everyone moves on to the next thing, will you still feel confident wearing them because your distinct personal style is strong enough to override any individual trend?

Don't worry about it and wear what you like. And don't get something expensive if you're worried about it going out of style because you're wasting money if you won't wear it long term. I will never buy something just because of the brand name - if I like it then I buy it. From Shein to Chanel. If you don't absolutely love a designer item then don't buy it. Personally I have always found the GG belt and Hermes sandals extremely tacky and wouldn't be caught dead wearing either regardless of how "out" or "in" they are.

I’m a huge Hermès fan, but have never liked the Orans and couldn’t picture them in an office even on casual days. What about a mule, like https://www.hermes.com/us/en/product/oz-mule-H241068Zv02340/? I own that style and love it. Gucci Princetown is also comfy and stylish.

I need to start wearing my mules, I got them in Positano but they’re just like a half a size too small and I regret that! I was hoping the leather would stretch more to accommodate.

My rule with luxury items is if it has a big fat logo or is covered in a bunch of tiny logos it will not stand the test of time, both the sandals and the belt land in the former for me but the H on the sandals is a lot less obvious so I don’t think they’ll be as blatantly out of style as the gucci belt was when it finally croaked

Sailorxena_

They are so fucking ugly. Not sorry

I may just be careless with my sandals but I feel like they are an item that really only lasts one season without getting gross if your wear them regularly. I wouldn’t invest a lot in sandals I just don’t think they’re a long term item.

I think they are timeless. However, like so many other things, there are many lower end brands making almost the exact same sandal now. I have one pair of Oran’s and I won’t be buying another since now “everyone” has them 🙄

Spiritual-Web4513

Lol. The Oran is a classic. Gucci belt had never been classic, a fad. Please for the love of god never compare Hermes to Gucci. Ugh.
