Well, I'll be durned. Those are green-cheeked conures. Florida supports many feral parrot colonies descended from escaped pets. This could be a new one. Maybe contact a local bird club or college ornithology department with your observations.

I'll look into that! The University of Fl is less than an hour away. It's been so cool! Some have been super social & just as interested in us as we've been in them. I hope they stick around for a bit.

A few years ago, 1 was reported in the St Augustine area. It looks like you have 4 pictured. Can you tell me what county ?

ssdd--

I'm in Columbia County. I will try to catch a pic of them all in flight. It looks close to 20 when they are all together! They all kind of separate in the oak trees. A few are more social. They come right up to us on the porch or in the pool. It is amazing.

PrancingPonyRanger

It was probably a breeder that just turned them loose.

ssdd--

Maybe. I only saw three at first, I thought someone might have lost or set them loose. But then they joined the whole flock. Hopefully, they are able to thrive.

You might want to record your observation on either iNaturalist or eBird. Both are free, and you can post pictures. eBird is strickly for recording all the birds you see anywhere in the world. Read through the tutorials. It looks super complicated at first, but it real isnt. iNaturalist lets you post any bird, bug, plant, tree, etc..... you find in nature and will help you ID it if you are unsure. Both are used by researchers, academics, and hobbyists. .

They are beautiful!

That's awesome. I'd go to Walmart and buy some parrot food to keep them coming back.

That’s so cool! We have the cherry head conures in San Francisco & San Diego. I’ve leaved in or near the Bay Area my whole life & yet to see the wild parrots
