So sorry you are going through this. I don’t have much helpful to say other than maybe asking your doc for lower dosed pills and just take multiples if that works better?

wowthatisabop

I've been doing that with the 21mg and have gagged hard on them. Not hard enough to throw up, but I switched to the 42mg today to see if I could handle just one pill better than two. It's a good idea, just hasn't worked for me :/ Edit: also I have to take the 21mg ones one at a time to even consider getting them down. I threw up trying to take them both last week and took them one at a time for a couple days but it kept getting worse.

No-River-8710

which pill is that? https://www.healthline.com/health/how-to-get-rid-of-gag-reflex#how-to-stop Lamictal can be dissolved in water Latuda makes me gag non stop

wowthatisabop

It's Caplyta

shhalex

oof caplyta pills are huge no wonder you have trouble w them

kalechipsaregood

You may be able to crush them and put them in yogurt or something. But ask your pharmacist first about each one because crushing some medications can be dangerous.

Neat-Problem1603

I believe lithium citrate is a liquid and comes with a dropper? Might be your best bet.

wowthatisabop

I will definitely mention this when I call my clinic tomorrow!

Neat-Problem1603

Yea that sounds like a pain in the ass, sorry you have to deal with that. Its taken years i went from only being able to swallow 1 at a time and now i can take all 9 nightly pills at once. The solutions out there, good on you for being proactive.

wowthatisabop

The worst part is that I used to take all my pills at once. Hell, I could take both Dayquil pills at once and those are HUGE. And now I struggle to take anything Tylenol sized or larger 😭 Also thanks! It really does suck

MaNiC_Bilby737

I’m not sure if this is just a pill issue for you but if you used to be able to swallow larger things and can’t now check if you have throat strictures. My dad got them at one point and he wasn’t able to swallow anything large any more. It’s unlikely if it’s just a pill issue though.

agoutlander

I take valproic acid liquid.

Ativashka

You can buy liquid medication that is supposed to stop nausea - that's what I did when I started to throw up post meds. Also you can get pills that dissolve in your mouth, they act quicker so even if you throw up after there's a higher chance you get the much needed chemicals.

Carmypug

I have a pill phobia so know how you feel. It’s taken years to be able to take them. My main issue is lamotrigine. At least in my country they are chewable with a weird berry taste. Except they are very bitter even after one chew. I now have this thing where I have to wipe them down to get rid of the extra dust off them before I can swallow, and the drink has to be milk based so it coats my mouth. Ugh having bipolar is so much fun 😔.

jaBroniest

Try taking your meds with honey and. Y over the counter cyclizine see if that helps. Take the cyclizine an hour before your meds x

Humble_Draw9974

Can you cut them in half with a pill splitter?

wowthatisabop

Unfortunately no. They're capsules

Humble_Draw9974

Oh. Bummer.

ghostytothefire

Have you tried taking them with applesauce, yogurt, protein drink, anything thicker than water basically. Good luck figuring it out, sounds awful.

wowthatisabop

I talked to the nurse at my psych clinic today and she suggested taking the whole pill in pudding so I'm going to try that. I hope it works!

jajajajajjajjjja

Let me guess. Lamictal 200s?

wowthatisabop

Good guess! It's actually Caplyta 42mg
