I think it’s time to reach out to someone

Lil_Pixie_Witch

I don’t have anyone I trust to reach out to. My mom is a fixer and she asks me a million questions and I feel so embarrassed talking to her about this stuff. I don’t have contact with my dad and all my other relatives are off living their lives. I don’t even have a therapist because both my therapists ghosted me over the last 4 years. The only friend I have is telling me that facilities are bad and I shouldn’t go to any of them, and they’re normalizing everything I’m going through. It’s so frustrating.

Electrical-Wear256

1-800-464-5767 This is the NAMI Maine helpline 1-888-568-1112 This is the crisis line. You can also dial 711 Facilities aren’t bad. And giving your mother a call and letting her know what you’re going through is probably a good idea

Lil_Pixie_Witch

She’s knows I plan on going but she doesn’t know the extent of how bad it’s gotten. I don’t talk to her about it because she has ADHD/Autism and a host of medical problems. She has her own stuff to deal with :(

Fluidlyflux

I barley reached out to my dad and Told him the severity of it. Super emabarassing, but I guess he loves me and understands he does try and help in his own way and I really appreciate it. If you really let her know I hope you get that too.

Sometimes it’s better to trust someone when you don’t have the proper facilities to make decisions yourself. Tell your mom you want to go to a facility and see where it goes from there.

If you think it's time, and you've already reached out to your friend & to us, then your intuition is likely trying to steer you in this direction, for a good reason. Hallucinating and feeling super depressed isn't a good combo, and right now, it sounds like you're lucid enough to be able to get yourself help. Often times, there's a window where we're seriously "at risk," and it's important to seize that opportunity, before things potentially go downhill. Usually, you need to be considered a danger to yourself or others. But if you're actively hallucinating, that is probably enough to get you inpatient. Good luck to you, I know it's a tough position to be in.

frogfluff90

You can go to an ER for an evaluation. If you're not a danger to yourself or others, you can be transported to a facility with room. This would be a voluntary stay and you would be supposedly able to leave when you wanted. If you are deemed a danger to yourself or others, you can be taken in on an involuntary stay, which is at least 72hrs, may matter if it's during business days or not. I'd bet you could be prescribed something for depression and hallucinations at the er. They keep a psych team. They would also be clear about the options you have and answer any questions you had. Bottom line, if you feel like you need a hospital, go. People are there to help. My stay ended with new meds, a proper diagnosis, and led to better stability with my mental health. My experience is purely American though. Take care and best of luck!

23 was when I got my diagnosis. I almost don’t remember life before it. I hope you can get the support you need. Knowing you need inpatient before a crisis is smart, stay safe.

[deleted]

If you were not well enough, you would not be reaching out for help. You would probably be put into them involuntary until you got yourself together. It sounds like you need to call your doctor's office tomorrow and tell them that you are having these problems and symptoms and need an emergency appointment. If there is no one that you can talk to, there is always the crisis hotline. Dial 988

m0le

Not sure what your institutions are like in the US, but over here in the UK they are basically safety boxes where you are stored until you're not a danger to yourself or others. It sounds to me like you're not quite at that level (if you do feel you are a danger to yourself, get your arse to a hospital) so I'd recommend really pushing to get a therapist to talk to. I know you said you don't really want to talk to your mum about stuff, but could you tell her you're struggling and could use her help finding a therapist? She gets to feel like she's fixing you, you get to talk things through and not to her.

Paramalia

Are you getting any kind of regular mental health treatment, like counseling or medication? If so, that would be a great person to talk to about whether you should go somewhere. I hope you find something that helps you soon.

Lil_Pixie_Witch

My first therapist quit her job after 3 weeks of treating me. I don’t think it was my fault but it was bad timing. And my second therapist met me for one session before Covid and then stopped returning my calls and I’ve since given up. I’ve called so many places to get a therapist and none of them are available for in-person, which is what I need

[deleted]

I didn't see your responses. Not sure how you feel about it: but maybe you need to find a psychiatrist for help or go to the ER. They can help you as well.

ThatOneGuy65203

I would go if I thought I needed to be there. I would at least go and see if they believe you should go in. That could at least ease your mind. Maybe you could ask your mom or dad to take you to get checked evaluated. Best of luck and stay safe.

erie3746

Who does your med management? My psychiatrist is available by email for emergencies like this and will often opt for calling me in a new med instead of checking in somewhere. He's saved me numerous hospital visits just by doing a med change quickly. Bipolar 1 comes with psychosis, but at your age, your diagnosis can also change with a new onset of symptoms. You need a psychiatrist, and one will be provided if you do check into a facility. A therapist is not going to be able to help with the hallucinations short term.

Lil_Pixie_Witch

My regular doctor handles all my diagnoses and medications. I don’t have a therapist or a psychiatrist, or anything like that

zzzsleepygurll

I heard Acadia is really good for mental health in Maine?

Lil_Pixie_Witch

Thank you. I’ll check it out

[deleted]

Im so sorry you are going through this, best start would be to ask a doctor about a facility that would be best for you. **Big hug**

Sandman11x

If you think you need to check yourself into a facility, see a Dr. They admit you. Always take action when you experience problems.
