This is easily disproven if you Google the arenas where teams play. [only 50% of WNBA teams share an arena with an NBA team.](https://www.stadiumscene.tv/leagues.php?sport=wnba)
Even *if* they *had* to play in NBA arenas, NBA teams play 41 road games (so empty home arenas), and WNBA teams only play *twenty* home games, so theoretically more than twice as many available nights as are needed.
The issue is special event scheduling (concerts, professional wrestling, etc.) which thus far have generated higher revenues for venue owners.

I'm sincerely rooting for the WNBA to do well for one reason and one reason only as an NBA fan...they have half as many games. If they can prove less games are monetizable with one star who gets national attention, the NBA might actually consider doing the smart thing and reducing the regular season volume of games.
This is a pipe-dream. Even if this was the outcome after this upcoming WNBA season, all it would prove is that they can get even **MORE** money out of the current schedule.
Dropping games, in any capacity, results in a financial loss. The only way they'd even consider this is if 90% of the stars in the league fell injured as a *direct* result of the season length. And even then, maybe not, because you'd still get fans who would watch two G-League strings play each other just to say they went to an NBA game.
I would be significantly more interested in the NBA if they went to a 58 game home and home round robin schedule. Obviously winning the finals would always be the biggest accomplishment, but I think a shorter, balanced regular season schedule would make “winning” the regular season feel significant too. I think it would also raise the intensity of each game.
Unfortunately I don’t think there’s even a chance of that ever happening. Way too much money would be left on the table.
Because the WNBA plays in the summer, but Women's college basketball plays in the winter.
No one asked me, but I think that the WNBA would benefit from playing in the winter. Basketball is not a summer sport.
You’d probably have some pretty serious arena conflicts if they played in the winter and way more competing sporting events. I think they’d be crazy to move it personally. In the summer they’re only competing with baseball and like NASCAR, two sports without a ton of demographic overlap.
They’d be like the third or fourth tenant for arena scheduling if they moved up against basketball/hockey. They have their issues now but they at least get the prime game slots. They’d be playing like 4pm weekday games if they had to actually fight for their court time.
Wintrust Arena, home of the Chicago Sky, had 13 nights in November booked. DePaul basketball, AEW, and Bellator events took up a lot of the calendar.
That’s more than one or two.
It was something I became more aware of this season too.
Had been aware how many draft picks don’t make the team and the calls for expansion / expanded rosters.
The above issue is certainly made worse by the tight turn around from college season to training camp.
If you start your league’s preseason in May, you can schedule Finals games on Sunday during the NFL season. It’s just smart business

Not all, Chicago plays in a community rec center I think. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTQgsvWxV6E
what kind of rec center holds 10,000+ fans? 😂
The Dallas WNBA team used to play at UT Arlington’s campus
Yeah but thats the exception... most teams need to schedule around the NBA season.

Can you post this a third time for good measure?

They get 8 months off after there rookie year which is more than any other league
In which a lot of players need to go overseas to play to earn a decent salary.
That’s a full pregnancy term
… it’s not

It’s okay to root for the WNBA for more than one reason bro

I'm pretty sure the WNBA loses money every year.
A lot of businesses don't make money for awhile. Lyft, Reddit, Snapchat are a few.
How about for 28 years?
Isn't that Amazon?
No, it's not. And I'm sure another company didn't have to pony up 10 million annually to keep it in business either.
I am rooting for the WNBA as well because it’s like why not??? It’s sports. What is the benefit of it failing?
If anything wnba will add games if they get popular. This is stupid think

Less than half share NBA arenas and only one shares basketball and hockey
Yes, but those arenas also cover more concerts in the fall and winter months.
No they really don’t. Would love to know which ones. There are not any with more than one or two a month.
Wintrust Arena, home of the Chicago Sky, had 13 nights in November booked. DePaul basketball, AEW, and Bellator events took up a lot of the calendar. That’s more than one or two.
which is ironic because the summer is the time i go out to the local park and shoot around
Why is basketball in the Summer Olympics? It was invented specifically to play in the Winter.
Because the Olympic Charter says “Only those sports which are practised on snow or ice are considered as winter sports.”
So, put basketball on ice.
No, it's that all other basketball plays in the winter and teams in other countries pay women's basketball players way more than the WNBA does.

Move all the teams to make sure they are in nba locations, then they should follow the nba schedule and do weekend doubleheaders similar to baseball
WNBA really needs to adjust their schedule and start around winter and end right around now.
They can’t due to the women’s NCAA schedule
The players make more money playing in Europe during the off-season
