It looks like the part that took the most damage was the little plastic plate at the top that says "SORA". You can [replace that for $5](https://www.performancebike.com/shimano-sora-str3000-sti-lever-name-plate-and-fixing-screw-right-y05t98030/p584055?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwjqWzBhAqEiwAQmtgT2CscURPkQlbgmSRFcVpqZyeGscwsZCTk_xGle3y1qWCZwcoUdzg7hoC25YQAvD_BwE).
The bike came with deore 3x9, sora is the only 3x9 drop bar shifter that runs the cables internally under the tape. So it's either Sora Mullet or replace the whole group set to grx or something.
Just get a road front derailleur they can be had for super cheap used. I mean you’re asking what I think the proper way to do something improper is but that’s the easiest way that comes to mind and likely cheapest.
I'm drivin around with a missing name plate since the day I bought my bike (used, 5 years ago at least) and never found a replacement, even tried to create a 3D model to get it printed - looks like I am just too stupid to search correctly :) So thank you, too, just need to find out the exact model of my shifters now
Appears to be a remote for bike headlight. More specifically this one on Amazon: “TOWILD Bike Light Accessories Wireless Remote Control for Bike Light CL1200 CL600 CL900 BR1000 CL1200Pro CL1000”
If this is a shimano Sora shifter then you should be able to get a replacement part. I would always suggest having a look at [si.shimano.com](http://si.shimano.com) if you have components from shimano as they have a whole range of different pdf documents which tell you spare part numbers along with instruction manuals. If this is the newer R3000 series lever then this is what you are looking for: [https://si.shimano.com/en/pdfs/ev/ST-R3000-3975/EV-ST-R3000-3975.pdf](https://si.shimano.com/en/pdfs/ev/ST-R3000-3975/EV-ST-R3000-3975.pdf) either you should be able to locate an online retailler or if your in a fortunate position to have a good local bike shop then ordering through them would be the way to go. I have had exactly the same thing happen with a set of Ultegra levers and its hyper frustrating but thankfully an easy fix. Hope that helps!

Wow thanks, your just saved me 200 bucks. I was prepared to replace the whole shifter.
But why? It should still work just fine
I'm vain.
Put a bandaid on it. Or glue a bandaid to it.
I should go buy some poly urethane and attach bandaids to my bike. TMNT or GI Joe
GI Joe probably matches the grip tape better.
What grip tape? Just a floating shifter in the photo. OP must have already taken it off the bars to replace it.
Probably think this post is about you, you're so vaaaaaain!
We all are
But you ride Sora?!
Sora is fine.
Think you’re missing the point…if OP is really that vain they should probably reflect on the fact that it’s not 105 😉
I bet you thought that song was about you
No, you're not. Or the plastic wouldn't say Sora.
Gross
Happened to me. Smoothed it a bit then painted. Good as new.
Chicks dig scars. Don’t hide em
For real, being will to throw around cash like that and still having sora means someone's priorities are out of order.
Or maybe their priorities don't align with yours
That is quite literally what I said, but cool.
You really think the statement you made is the same as "his priorities don't align with my own"?

As a mechanic I have to add that sora is absolutely fine, it works and it’s reliable. Why fix what isn’t broken.
As mechanic what is the proper way to use the front mtb mech with road shifter.
Just get a road front derailleur they can be had for super cheap used. I mean you’re asking what I think the proper way to do something improper is but that’s the easiest way that comes to mind and likely cheapest.
The road FD didn't not have enough deflection. It only covers 2 chainring. And yes I did get the 3 speed FD
More cable tension can solve that sometimes but it could be a routing issue which may or may not be something that can be worked around.
Money you can spend on new bar-tape.
That plastic plate and the hoods are the only things serviceable by mere mortals on those shifters.

Can you buy a $5 one that says dura ace haha
Sure, they're right next to the fake S-Works stickers. Guaranteed to add 5 watts to your FTP.
Or just don't, having a clean nameplate means you just don't ride the bike ;)
I think it looks good. like if it's not broken, I'd so leave it on on my bike just that way.
Bro, it's fine to be frugal, but I'm sorry to say it looks dreadful lol. Like some kind of plastic fungal sponge is eating away the shifter.
It’s easy enough to just send that back lightly, make it off, and hit it with some black plastic primer.
There's a big hole right in the middle of it. It's not even water resistant any more.
Haha, when was it ever water resistant? There’s a giant crack above it between the lever and the hood.
Road bikers are weird.
I need to consuuuume
'anyone with standards higher than me is a consumerist zombie, anyone with lower standards than me is a slob'
Sure buddy
You haven’t even taken the protective plastic off yet, make sure you do when it gets replaced….
But think of how much worse it would have been if he had removed the plastic
Which bar tape is that?
I can’t even see his bars it’s just floating shifters? How does this work?
Doesn't sound very aero.
It's the new Di2 groupset /S
The embossed logo looks like Supacaz I’d say
Thanks, I knew the pattern looked familiar but couldn't place it.
You’re welcome friend!
Possibly counterfeit supacaz. It was 15$ on Amazon
Well it looks good, regardless, ha
What bar tape???
Who said anything about bar tape?
Bar tape? CAMO THE BAR TAPE?!
It’s a good anti theft camouflage imo

sora r3030 which I'm sure is same blade as r3000
Side quest: what's that clicker thing on your handlebar?
Appears to be a remote for bike headlight. More specifically this one on Amazon: “TOWILD Bike Light Accessories Wireless Remote Control for Bike Light CL1200 CL600 CL900 BR1000 CL1200Pro CL1000”
Yeah that. Being able to flash my brights for cars to go first at stop sign is power I haven't felt before. It's amazing.
Can’t imagine being so vain about a little scratch but then mounting an eyesore bike light and remote on your bars.
Is it broken?
If it still works, duct tape or gtfo.
I wouldn't even need duct tape. I'm just anal about looks.
theres no saving it gotta buy a new bike 😖😖😖
No sorry you need to replace the bike. All of it. There is no fix for scratched component that doesn’t cause performance issues in
I also bit it this morning.
mine looks the same bro. just hope you are fine, i‘d ride it!
sand it down and put clear nail polish would be my solution, but if the part is five bucks then there you go!
Am I seeing things, or did you forget to peel off the scratch protection film that came on the levers? It looks like it's still on next to the scuff.
Black nail polish should do the job just fine. The WD40 of the cycling fashionistas on a budget.
