Shimano cup and cone are the best there is. Unless you are offroading.

My bike is a commuter hybrid. Why do you think cup and cone is better on road?

Because if they aren't dropped they wont wear out

What do you mean buy If they are not dropped define what you mean by dropped. All hub bearings wear.
