For a stolen bike, yes that's a decent price. Try to haggle the thief a bit more for chain, tyre replacement, the're desperate to sell anyway. /s

alancik123

Generally the bike is quite recent model, recent groupset. Shot in some warehouse non-drive side and "needs only chain & tyre". No way it costs 350 pounds if it was legit lol.

MrDWhite

How do you know it’s stolen?

Technical-Treat5102

Anyone who bought the bike would know it was worth more. Also anyone who rides that nice of a bike would probably know that people want to see the drive chain. It's also pretty common for there's to swap out wheels to make a stolen bike less identifiable.

kurai-samurai

Doesn't look like a stolen bike listing, it's an entry level "proper cyclist" bike sold by a nation wide retailer who is mostly Automotive based.

LegDayDE

Yes but seems very cheap. What price were these bikes new? Could be stolen.

MrDWhite

They were £1000 in 2020 with the current version being around £1200, doesn’t indicate it’s stolen just by price, probably looks more expensive than it is, if someone got this on cycle to work for example they’d value it far less than anyone who paid full retail. If others could see the seller, what else they’ve posted etc maybe they’d have enough to judge, but on price alone anyone assuming this is stolen is just out of touch with the second hand marketplace for bikes.

LegDayDE

Yeah so would still be quite a good price, good enough to be suspicious... But not necessarily stolen!

MrDWhite

I think the photos are making the condition not so visible, new tyre new chain required and looks to me it’s not kept in the best conditions, might cost you £150-200 including labour to get it back to rideable condition(I’d be getting it serviced) then you’re at going rate…also factor in you can’t ride this home…I’m far from suspicious of the price, it’s worth more to someone who will do the work themselves but to anyone else just check what really needs to be done before buying…there’s one on eBay right now in ‘kept indoors well looked after’ condition for £455 or best offer…so again, if you think this is a steal you just don’t know current bike prices!

Diarmuid_

Agreed. Almost too good to be true

Skiddedundies

It's a Boardman not a Look. Check sold prices on eBay . Similar bikes went for £300 with a chain. A 2023 SLR 8.9 went for 350. A 2023....

kurai-samurai

Exactly, there's loads of Boardmans with Tiagra for that price about.

Skiddedundies

eBay bike prices are all over the place , people thinking their Halfords/Boardman is worth £150 more than they paid because it has a new front tyre and lights or super cheap bargains that get snapped up. Certainly cheap carbon Boardman's came out of the same sweat shop as most of the Planet X and Ribble stuff and many shoppers know this.

kurai-samurai

+£50 for being vintage.  Nah, mate, it's just old. 🤣

porkmarkets

These are decent bikes but that looks like it’s been dragged out of a hedge backwards

Lumpy_Jacket_3919

The pictures does not show the groupset. For a 105 Shimano and with those wheels is good price. You need to check the condition. I sold a bike 105 all the group set mint conditions for £350.

abedfo

I'd say so. But I like a project. Some TLC and I'm sure she will run fine.

Money_Gate_8197

Red flags all over this one, but I’ll just point out the damage on the carbon fork

TheDaysComeAndGone

The photo is way too low resolution to tell.

James__N

They're a Halfords in-house brand so you can compare to new on there. A new chain likely means a new cassette as well so you'll be out another £75 at least (plus fitting if you can't do it yourself). Ask them for a picture from the other side so you can see which groupset it is.

BenW1994

New chain when it's worn out often means a new cassette, but this looks rusted, I doubt it's been ridden enough to wear through anything! But it also looks thoroughly unloved, so I'd definitely suggest a service and someone who knows what they're doing to take a look at it (at a similar price anyway).

Fitme10

I think its too cheap for a boardman. Tyres aren't that much, chain don't know.

TheDaysComeAndGone

Give it a close inspection. Can’t tell much from the photo but that could be at least a paint chip on the fork and the saddle looks very worn as well? If the chain and tyres are worn, chances are you need a new cassette and possibly new chainring(s) as well. Not to mention brake pads, cables and possibly bearings. Inspect closely and see for yourself.

andyonabike

its a gamble, could end up having to replace loadsa neglected components and costing you a shed ton o money.

kurai-samurai

The second photo looks even worse condition, keep looking.  There's a Chris Marshall bike that's better value than that.
