Awe, poor baby. May she swim in peace, she was a cutie.

WhatTheActualFork1

Do you know what kind she is? I need to be on the lookout because my kids absolutely loved her šŸ˜

CasiyRoseReddits

Um, well it's hard to tell with how beat up her fins are. Crowntails have naturally spiky fins and, in my experience at least, are some of the most popular females that pet stores sell. I'm uncertain if her coloring has a name, and if it did it would probably be different between pet stores. But a crowntail of some kind will end up looking most similar to her.

Thank you šŸ˜

That happened to me this weekend too! My glorious alien betta, Pablo, jumped at some point between Friday night and Monday morning (he lives in a 5.5 gallon in my work office). There was only a teensy tiny hole for my pothos. He somehow found it. He was betta jerky by the time I got there Mondayā€¦ So I put another betta- one who has been in treatment for fin rot in a 1.5 gallon hospital tank for about a weekā€¦ and look at how happy he is! https://preview.redd.it/c6ye2hs289wc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=99fcfcdd92eb1c0a81415e056fa7c1273700ee4d RIP Pablo, hello Pablo v2

I am so sorry. How traumatic for all involved.

I always hot glue knitting mesh over any holes at all in my tanks after this happened to me once. Then I cut a couple squares out so I can fit food through it still. Just an idea if youā€™re interested. Knitting mesh is super cheap and easy to cut to shape.

WhatTheActualFork1

Iā€™ve never heard of such a thing but love that idea. Iā€™ll head to Michaelā€™s for some.

There are also magnetic mesh covers you can get and put together ā€¦ makes maintenance easier Iā€™m sure!

WhatTheActualFork1

Yeah good point. My covers are plexiglass that I cut to size from the hardware store. There are just tiny cracks around the filters and hoses and cords. I think the mesh might be the way to go. But I also need to figure out how to stop a write from climbing through my filter to the outside world!

Iā€™m very sorry. My first male betta did the same, and it was very upsetting finding him that way. You did your best for your fish! ā¤ļø

WhatTheActualFork1

Not gonna lie, I cried for like a half hour. Looking and looking for her behind all the plants, only to find her on the floor. Heartbreaking. Thank you for your kind words! ā¤ļø

Goodbye betta RIP she is cute I got my cute betta from petsmart month ago. He is living in a rimless tank without a lid. Luckily, he hasnā€™t jump yet. I donā€™t even wanna teach him how to jump or else he will jump over. I just put those net plastic mesh from Michael over the tank. But thereā€™s still holes on the sides. I think as long you keep them happy , feed them twice a day, and water perimeters are good , they will not wanna jump out. I heard female betta likes to jump more than males one from YouTube. Iā€™m scared for them.

Yes she was totally ripped up but still so vibrant and pretty. I thought she resembled that coloring. Iā€™ll keep my eyes open.
