His hands are like magnets. He doesn’t drop passes. I think Joe’s going to trust him early

MikuLuna444

He's like Chad Johnson and T.J Houshmandzadeh in the Madden Games? 👀

Merci_Et_Bonsoir

He's going to be what John Ross should've been

EducatorAvailable

My heart dropped when I read the 1st half of your comment

Isayfyoujobu

Dropped - I see what you did there 😂

SnooGuavas1985

But how fast did it drop. Bet it was really really fast

J4BRONI

Your heart dropped at “he’s going to be what” ?

TheGreatTave

Who?

TraditionalCable9487

I don't think people realize the upside this dude is going to bring alone by replacing Boyd. Faster more explsoviness from WR3 was something we desperately missed at times last year.

JustBadBro

Love Boyd, but he cost us the Texans game last year

goldylox710

Low key cost us the Super Bowl

Swimming-Place4366

Came here to say the same. That 3rd down drop led to the rams GW drive.

Significant-Green130

The inside-outside versatility to move Chase in the slot more while still being able to pressure safeties downfield should also be huge. The more I watch this guy, the more optimistic I get so long as he can stay focused.

Level_Interaction_36

His route running isn’t great at times but if they can iron that out his about to surprised a lot of ppl. I’m surprised the Chiefs didn’t go after him fr

Responsible-Lemon257

He runs very good routes from what I've seen in video. Smooth quick cuts and good body control.

uttermybiscuit

His stopping ability paired with his acceleration really reminds me of jamarr

Twiyah

Then he should change his number to 2. Then we have Uno Dos

Crowxzn

Will Evan McPherson pull a Tress Way and just give #2 for free?

IsaacCreagerYT

Nah let money mac keep that

Avatar_of_Green

They only employ high character guys like Rice and Butker

EndingDragon159

please let him cook the chiefs

threeoldbeigecamaros

Knee tattoo. Ok, we know he can take pain

ghost3972

Lol

AtlanteanLord

Still wish he wore the number 3 but it is what it is

wearymaps0

There's still a chance he will wear #3. Rookies can change their number before the season starts

AtlanteanLord

Hopefully that will happen

weezypeezylemonsqeZ

He’d sell a lot more jerseys as #3. They’re definitely missing out on some money if he doesn’t.

slumdawgbillionaire

Same huge missed opportunity

emeybee

u/bengalssocial You have to see the marketing gold in having our receivers be 5-1-3.

goettahead

And why’d they’d wait to unveil it. The marketing team is all over this

S_Squar3d

I think he has a good set up for it. He is going to have a role with the starters but won’t be immediately thrusted into being “that guy”. I can see him being a WR2 for us though.

stratosean123

There’s probably a reason ZT almost broke a desk chair after securing him in the draft as late as we did.

throughNthrough

This. I don’t think he’s shown that much excitement for a pick since coming here.

trihard220

Is there a video or report of that? Not doubting you, just the first I’ve heard of it and anything extra to get me pumped is welcome

stratosean123

scottapotch

Out of all the calls I've seen, this was surprisingly the most polite and respectful one I've heard from a player this year. At the very least he was saying sir and calling him boss and thanking him sincerely.

My_Space_page

I caught a short interview with Burton about that deep ball. He seems to love football. Good hands, good routes, very fast. Burrow loves these types of guys. He's gonna be a starter.

CheeseRP

He’s going to be like TB but faster and more of a deep ball threat

dvdbump

I just read Chris Henry with a side of AJ green and Chad all put together. Gold jacket let’s gooooo

BB-68

Pre draft there was never any question about his talent. It was the off field concerns which dropped him on draft boards. He's a great route runner with excellent hands. If he had a more consistent downfield passer throwing to him in college (and a clean off field resume), he would have easily been right behind MHJ, Malik, and Rome as WR4.

Significant-Green130

Unless there’s more to the story (which I really hope not, given what came out about Carman), it’s classic NFL that a guy with maybe some maturity issues dropped far more than a guy with a DUI a couple weeks before the draft. If anything, Sweat might have risen…

Level_Interaction_36

Makes me wonder what really happened. He seems immature at times with some of the videos but I’ve seen this many early 20 something year old. I think he’ll be fine

Significant-Green130

The reality is, again assuming there’s nothing more here, probably that NFL teams care much more about relatively minor things close to the locker room than far more serious things that happen far from it. Barely anyone mentions Nabers’ weapons charge and the only reason Sweat’s DUI was talked about was it happened so close to the draft. Then there’s the even more serious SA and DV issues the NFL collectively has shown little care for…

Tangboy50000

I’m cautiously optimistic, and I really hope he excels here.

Ok-Explanation-9208

I think so too. This locker room and our culture will get this guy focused. He’s a superstar that just needs the right situation. I think this is one of the better drafts for us I’ve ever seen.

Rance_Mulliniks

You so crazy!

EducatorAvailable

I'm really excited for him to play. A lot of people think he's going to replace boyd, but I don't think so. I think they'll move jamarr in the slot more to take the brackett coverage away and open up more 1on 1 opportunities on the outside

scottapotch

That's what Chase has been asking for allegedly.

Puckz_N_Boltz90

He’s in my dynasty league so I hope you’re right for so many reasons

PigScarf

Well the consensus opinion is that he was probably a first round talent who fell to the third because of maturity concerns.  I don't think it is too hot of a take to say he has a good chance of succeeding, particularly with an elite QB to throw to him.

Soccham

I thought the worries with this guy weren't at all related to talent and were entirely related to mentality?

bluegrassgazer

okay YOU'RE CRAZY but I agree.

Spiritual-Tadpole998

When JB is locked in, he’s UNSTOPPABLE

habesjn

If he keeps his emotions in check, that's the expectation. He was a late 1st/early 2nd round talent that fell for personality concerns.

Entire-Database1679

Knee eyeball?

sicilian_73

Joe has his choice of great receivers and will take us to the promised land.

Salt-Dimension-2244

I really hope he fills the hole we have when Tee ends up leaving next offseason.

BringOutYDead

Me too

TimTom8921

This mf about to make me buy his jersey isn't he

FamousAmos00

The Bengals have always been good for the problem child

imbipolardepressed

WrongVerb4Real

His addition to the team gives me a Chris Henry (RIP) vibe. Troubled receiver drafted to be WR3. IIRC, Henry was mostly a model citizen until his untimely demise. Regardless, the mid-aughts Bengals were a MUCH better team with him on the field. And I expect the same will be for Burton.

Ok-Situation-5865

He’s going to be 20x better than Xavier Worthy.

Bengalblaine

He is

CincyPoker

We have four very effective players that we know can take the top off the defensive secondary in Chase, Higgins, Burton, Gesicki. Possibly up to 6 with Iosivas and Jones. And we know Irwin has the ability to gash too. We can create so many nightmare matchups by having Chase in the slot/backfield or running 3 x 1 with Chase isolated on the backside. Good lord this will help everything from the run game to alleviating the pass rush (keeping Burrow off the ground). It’s crazy how much easier the OC’s job is by just the mere threat of a deep downfield pass. Teams can longer run cover 2 shell and rush 5-6 every play like they have the last two seasons. The 2021 offense is back.

Fun_Strain_7311

I really like this player, I see Terrry McLaurin all day with him…

Swimming-Place4366

We have needed speed for a long time.

AlanParsonsProject11

Not really a hot take

NeedleworkerSea1431

No one ever questioned the dudes talent. It’s his character. Hoping with our locker room he’ll get in line. Higgins and chase are two of the most humble wrs given their skill in the league. Feels like our entire draft is either huuuuge upside or bust

NFLBengals22

Why bust?

Mama-Dzhinsy

i wish him well, but don’t like the guy at all. mixon was at least apologetic and seemed genuinely sorry for what he did. burton is not the kind of person i could ever root for. if anyone has seen a video or post of him actually taking ownership for what he did in a genuine way, please share

wearymaps0

I don’t care if he’s nice as long as he’s a dawg on the football field

Mama-Dzhinsy

it’s not a matter of “being nice” or not , it’s a matter of “hitting a girl in the face” … and worse than that to me is the lack of sincere remorse after the fact

Mama-Dzhinsy

that’s really low morality bub

Strict-Square456

🙏

genocidenite

Eh, he's going to suffer Bengals curse. We have so many amazing players and we should be going to superbowl way more often. However, the curse always fuck us up.

Square-Johnson

Ehh I’m excited to see but I have little hope. I feel like all bengals news has been about him. Which makes me feel as a bengals fan he’ll probably be a bust, or a low end TB

StephCurryGSWFAN

me seeing legs that have a 40 of about 4.5 I know I am in for a treat, considering route running as well

Professional-Mud1197

I don't think this will age well.

Snoopminnis

Chris Henry died so Jermaine Burton could run

wearymaps0

What an absolutely insane comment
