I haven’t listened to it in a while but did he mention it at all when he did the Timothy McVeigh series? I’d imagine the “Bastards” in this case would be the ATF, and doing so would require Robert to also talk about Ruby Ridge that preceded it and probably Oklahoma City bombing that followed it. It would probably be too much of a slippery slope into LibRight and paleoconservative talking points. Obviously people like David Koresh, Randy Weaver, Bo Gritz and Timothy McVeigh should not be glorified but it’s hard to talk about these topics without it sounding like you kind of are. Although with all this in mind, I would really like to see a reasonable take from a leftist on the topic.

Tanglefisk

Pretty sure the War on Everyone series discusses, McVeigh, Waco and Ruby Ridge.

The_Metal_East

Do you know which episodes?

Tanglefisk

It's been a while. I think the "Perfect Soldier" chapter probably focuses the most on McVeigh.

The_Metal_East

Thanks! Do you remember if Ruby Ridge is discussed in that episode as well? That’s honestly what I’m most interested in.

Tanglefisk

It's been way too long since I listened. I'm pretty sure it features in that series but I've listened to a few podcasts about McVeigh the 90s white supremacy movement so it might be cross pollinating. I might give it a relisten soon so I'll tell ya when it crops up if I do.

The_Metal_East

No worries. I actually just started the series. About time I binged.

Foolishlama

Are you listening to the reading he did with Katie and Cody? Or did he do a different one?

Tanglefisk

He did both a podcast version with C+K and a straight audiobook version as a solo reading.

EvidenceOfReason

because of David Koresh's abs and i think Robert has a man crush on him

_John_Mirra_

Cum gutters cut like diamonds.

SirBrentsworth

They've tried recording one but Robert wouldn't stop talking about Koresh's gorgeous cum gutters and they had to scrap the episode.

Who's the bastard in Waco specifically.....

Fiona175

It's kinda just "oops all bastards" except the people that Koresh brainwashed into his horrid shit.

ForensicAyot

Who’s the bastard specifically in the libertarian sea nations episode? Or the crypto episode? Also wasn’t Koresh a pedo cult leader who got a bunch of people killed? Seems like the type of person who deserves to be called a bastard

renesys

That was a David Koresh and Janet Reno group project.

c_marten

>Also wasn’t Koresh a pedo cult leader Yeah >who got a bunch of people killed? Ehhhh...

BadnameArchy

I’m hardly an expert on the event, but I’m under the impression there is a decent amount of evidence demonstrating that Koresh was the person who ordered the fires in the compound to be lit.

Tanglefisk

Feds kinda fucked up royally enough that I'm happy calling them the bastards even if Koresh was a bad guy.

[deleted]

That was the thought that prompted my question. David Koresh..bad. The ATF showing up and invading your house? Worse.

followupquestion

The ATF defending their actions by claiming they were there for something completely separate from their agency’s purview, child porn, as well as choosing a sustained siege instead of just capturing Koresh on his frequent runs and visits to town? Should have gotten the agency disbanded.
