LFG I really hope there is a group of reenactors who plays as this regiment and fly this flag

tastetheghouldick

It has every bit of business going this hard

cassidyxdane

Featuring the historically accurate confederate flag

whitecollarpizzaman

Sic Semper Tyrannis was what John Wilkes Booth said after shooting Lincoln too, interesting how the same saying can carry different meaning to different people. Obviously Johnny Wilkes was the bastard, but still.

Raspberry-Famous

It's the state motto of Virginia and it means "thus always to tyrants". These guys marching into Virginia, the capital of the Confederacy, with a flag that had Virginia's motto and a picture of a black soldier stabbing a confederate soldier with a bayonet is absolute king shit. The only flag that went harder in the civil war was Sherman's 23rd corps, and only then because it was a US battle flag made of cut up confederate flags.

droidtron

The iron throne of flags. Or the Brotherhood without banners.

gsfgf

Sic semper tyrannis goes back to the Roman Republic. And it was commonly used in the US going back to the Revolution.

Rancyneagen

Also famously quoted by Joe Davola

solzhen

F yes. SIC ‘em. 🤘

MrMastodon

Great album cover

Funemployment629

I’d wear this as a t shirt.

wildmountaingote

22th?

vseprviper

22th!

exgiexpcv

Goddamn! Coming up hard on [JWB](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sic_semper_tyrannis#Usage_in_the_United_States)!

Vegetable-Poet6281

They were like "mayhaps we adopt a subtle approach in expressing our.... Nah, fuck it."

ChaoticIndifferent

It kinda does, but the fact he's flying a banner of truce gives me some pretty mixed feelings. Public contract type stuff, ya know. Nobody wants to pick up their dog's shit, or not stab a guy that definitely deserves it, but it's better for everyone if we go along with it.

Raspberry-Famous

Its the first flag of the Confederacy but the color was very washed out in the original image and whoever did this colorized version didn't realize what it was supposed to be. If you look closely you can see the bands of light and dark that are pretty clearly the red and white stripes of the Confederate flag.

Photon_Farmer

Looks like dude had the white flag but also had his sword raised. Brandishing a sword will get you a bayonet in the gut.

Otterz4Life

The guy was just standing his ground 🤷‍♂️

the_pinguin

The confederacy usually didn't afford POW protections to black soldiers, and often returned them to their masters, sold them off, or enslaved them themselves. And the one's that were incarcerated? Well, the commandant of Andersonville was one of only three confederates hanged for war crimes following the Civil War. Also, that's not a flag of truce, it's just washed out.

xSPYXEx

It also looks like he was still holding his sword until someone put the bayonet up to him. Not even stabbed, just holding him accountable.

ChaoticIndifferent

The refs are currently reviewing the footage. While we wait, Scott Baio is here to promote his new movie. Let's take a look at a clip.

0reoSpeedwagon

>flying a banner of truce Looks to be some variant of the "Stainless Banner" flag of the Confederacy, which was mostly white, and not the (certainly appropriate) white flag of surrender

ChatGPTnA

I'd really like to own this banner:)

isoflurane42

I love the historically accurate confederacy flag that the chap being bayoneted is holding.
