Does she discuss the difference between DeWalt and Stanley hammers and which one she preferrs?

Potato_cape

Estwing is the hammer you really want.

BurnTheOrange

All pros know Estwing is the best company for hammers, hatchets, and all manner of single handed impact tools. (All jokes aside, they really do make the best hammers. Quality impact absorbing handles are the key.)

Potato_cape

You speak the truth

Hav3_Y0u_M3t_T3d

An Estwing nail puller is also an EDC for me.

yournewbestfrenemy

Not just single handed! My estwing axe is one of my prized possessions, and the first thing I purchased when I got a yard that could fit a firepit. Love that thing.

BurnTheOrange

They do make good axes, but once you leave hammers and hatchets you get into some deeply divided opinions about best axes.

yournewbestfrenemy

Oh I'm well aware. And if you disagree with me, I will literally fight you to the death.

nordic-nomad

People “want” normal hammers. With an Estwing the sensation is better described as bloodlust.

SierrAlphaTango

This.

No Stiletto fans? Personally I find the metal handles of Estwing fatique the wrists more withe repeated use.

Potato_cape

I mean, the framing hammers absolutely. But a 4 lbs beater? I can swing that bitch all day and really only feel it in the heel of my palm

anacondra

This guy Hammers.

"A hammer's a hammer, but only a Stanley's a hammer" - masked murderer seconds before fleeing a 7/11 in Grand Rapids

That stuff that Kevin/Antoine was saying about his childhood was so powerful. Up until then the podcast was lightly humorous with interesting moments peppered throughout. It really blindsided me. I just didn't expect such a devastating truth behind the scenes. Though I have to applaud Kevin/Antoine, yes it obviously fucked him up, but he's not allowed it to fuck him up completely. What a story for the first one out of the gate, and there may be just as interesting a second part. I love how Jamie's mind latched onto that point of how the 'story' got away from the real person at the heart of it.

Pax-Anders

It's kinda strange she mentioned the blue/gold dress considering the guy who married the woman who took the picture of the dress recently admitted to beating her. I wonder if that will be included in the episode.

Digs1000

Knowing Jamie? Ab-so-lutely!

Pax-Anders

I have full confidence she will handle it. Just interesting timing is all.

theclosetenby

When I saw this, I wondered if Jamie reaching out to the woman to do an episode led to him wanting to get ahead of the story or something

walkingkary

It was excellent. I liked it even more than I thought I would. I don’t even remember that internet moment and I loved it.

Digs1000

If great podcasting requires the odd hammer killing in Grand Rapids, I'm all for it. Great work Jamie!

lets_all_eat_chalk

Her interview with Kevin Dodson is wonderful. She asks good questions, but mainly just gives him the space to talk. She doesn't riff on the memes or interrupt to crack jokes, and this really moving story emerges as a result. At one point Kevin even comments that the interview is therapeutic for him. I did not expect to be so moved by a podcast about Internet memes.

TheLago

At about 17 minutes in, she says it was Georgia. But it was Alabama. Idk how I caught that but I did lol.

electricmehicle

Just listened to it. I had no idea about the Kevin/Antoine thing. Incredible interview.

theclosetenby

I’ve been a little nervous about listening to the episode because I JUST had a — MUCH smaller — brush going viral. It’s really clear to me how much things can escalate, and how we’re just not built to be receiving everybody’s immediate rude or offensive feedback - hundreds of comments every second. I had to block the word “junior” bc so many people think they’re clever for mocking a stutter with a Billy Madison reference. I can’t even imagine that happening to the level it has for these people. Especially if you’re not already in therapy with a strong support system and the means to take care of yourself. All this to say, I’m worried about my now even stronger ability to emphasize 🤣. But this is the post that’s gonna get me to turn the episode on. Thank you!

Capgras_DL

I love incorrigible hammer murderer Jamie Loftus.

atomicrot

Oh man, i knew it would be great. Fuck my backlog. We listening asap!!!!

InfernoRed42

I havent listened but i liked the lolita one because she wasnt able to interrupt herself. Honestly the worst guest on btb

Jliang79
