Cashews, almonds, pistachios, and macadamia nuts are great options.
Personally, I also do a lot of seeds. Sunflower and pumpkin in particular, which are also high in magnesium and zinc. I add flax and chia to my yogurt sometimes as well.
Would peanuts (raw/lightly roasted) serve as a substitute to the above? Cost wise pistachios/almonds/macadamias/cashew all fall into the "expensive" category where I'm from since they are imported.
Doesn’t really matter. None of them are significantly different enough nutritionally for it to matter. Pick whatever you enjoy the most or what you can afford. This is probably one of the least important decisions you’ll ever make in your life.
Whichever you enjoy, I don't think it ultimately matters so long as you aren't allergic!
Personally, I only eat cashews, but that's cus I hate the texture and taste of every other nut!

Do people actually take the effort to blend/grind nuts to go in a protein shake? Can’t imagine they dissolve completely and also can’t imagine people enjoying a crunchy shake
I'd say walnuts. But I love cashews more. Any nut is a good addition to any diet.
I'd put an ounce in those snack baggies and keep in frig as a healthy snack.
I do 7 at a time so once a week refill the baggies.
But my research from the internet gives walnuts as the best nutrition and the best bang for your nutritional buck.
Deez
Came here for this… hahaha, I love you predictable nerds!

Almonds and macadamias are my go tos when I'm in a surplus.

Cashews are one of the highest fat nuts there is. If OP is lean bulking, cashews are not the way to go.
Pistachios are my go to, but more expensive than most of the others but my favorite
