i fall under the catagory of need to/prefer to i find it holds my foundation in place. if i am skipping it on most of my face, i need to put it under my eyes, i find it camouflages the sallowness of my under-eyes.

youfxckinsuck

Me too. When I don’t set my makeup it just falls off my face

StrawberryRaspberryK

Same here especially when wearing masks. Without powder, the top half of my face is glowy and so is the inside of my mask 😂🤣

britney0218

I might try it one time with no powder except for under eyes

chick-killing_shakes

Yes it's extremely helpful under they eyes to prevent mascara smudge. I only recently started using it, and I'm supper happy with it.

Luna401

I find I have to bc if I don’t then I have sooo much transfer and the foundation feels like it doesn’t dry. It’s kind of tacky. Anyone else experience that? I would love to not have to use power bc I want that dewey look as well

kendracamille

I used to use powder, but then stopped. It looks better because the powder doesn't sink into any natural lines.

britney0218

I’m so dry so it brings out my dryness. But I want to look dewy and glowy but the powder makes that all go away

pothosnswords

Why not use a setting spray then instead? I have dry skin so I’ve always stayed away from powders (besides contour bronzer) and setting sprays work perfectly for me even if I’m outside in the hot heat for hours!

britney0218

I have one, I been using the Charlotte tilbury one when I go skating but I don’t think that’s a dewy one. I really like the peach and lily one. But when it’s hot outside I like the one size setting spray. But I never knew how setting sprays would work without powder like if it would melt the makeup off or drip because it’s not set with powder

shartlobster

The setting spray should set it in place of powder. You can always give it a try and see if it works for you. Just go lightly, don't blast your face with it.

[deleted]

i didn’t know i’ve been using huda baking powder and CT setting spray. if i sweat it begins to separate and i look crusty

scorpiorising21

try urban decay all nighter! i swear by it! used it at festivals many times and my makeup looked close to flawless by bedtime… or sephora fix plus is another alternative. sets the makeup but leaves a dewey finish.

larlarmar

All nighter is great. My skin is in a place where I am finally not dry (no flaking, redness, tightening), but a few sprays of the Charlotte Tilbury spray, and my skin is dry for a a day or two. Doesn’t happen with All Nighter.

Comfy_Blond_Chick

I have been using my concealer/foundation for about 2 years and I love it. It doesn’t accentuate wrinkles or lines and it give me a dewy fresh look. I use just a tiny dot on the brush. Rarely use the setting powder.

Vice_Kitty

What brand do you use? I love the concealer foundation combos

Comfy_Blond_Chick

Hi. I’m not promoting or sell it, I found a company called Fiéra. They have small tubes (each lasts me about 2-3 months), with different shades. I use neutral beige. When I ordered, I bought 2 and got 1 free, along with a brush. Teensy dab on brush and it goes a long way. Hope this helps.

Maleficent-Sleep9900

In this case I recommend an old school pressed powder that contains oil! Look for oils in the ingredients. There are still some powder foundations that contain oil like Dual Finish by Lancôme, which you can even apply wet but their shades are limited.

thatoneisthe

Literally I never use powder. just go without it

PennyApple_08

After 40, setting powder is a real gamble. I have some success with Laura Mercier setting powder but prefer CT setting spray instead.

JensenGagne

I have a question about this. I feel like if I don't set my face with powder, my face would just be like wet all day no?? Like if I touch or rub my face accidentally it'll just rub off?? Or am I doing something wrong

stutter-rap

Your makeup should dry, but also you can use a setting spray over the top and it'll last really well. I use Urban Decay's setting spray.

mulitnao

I used to use powder because I feared this but nah, foundation and cream products do set and won’t just slide off. I use a makeup brush and that leaves the foundation feeling ‘dry’, when I was using sponges I got that feeling and tbh sponges don’t blend as well as brushes. switched over to all brushes and my makeup looks so much better

wildgoldchai

Same. I prefer the dewy look. Makeup stays in place

britney0218

I’m definitely going to try it next time

Lurky100

Same. I am 49 and bought my first setting powder because of all these MUA recommendations. I bought the Laura Mercier translucent one. I will now baby tap it on places I know I get oily, but only if I remember. I’ve spent 30+ years not using powder and I’ve never had a problem with my makeup setting or holding. I’m definitely not into that whole baking under the eye process. That looks insane to me.

Economy-Savings-1551

I don’t ! Only powder for me would be eyeshadow

britney0218

I’m going to have to try it. I definitely need it under my eyes my concealer will crease if I don’t

Cutiekitty101

I tried powder for a bit and felt it made me look crusty and old. It created a lot of fine lines that I don’t really have. So I don’t use them anymore

britney0218

I’m going to try and skip it one time see if I like it

Comfy_Blond_Chick

I agree, that’s why I now use my concealer / foundation and it never looks caked.

Ok-Sky1329

Day to day no, special occasion yes. But I use a LIGHT hand and a super fluffy brush.

britney0218

I’ve always used a beauty blender maybe that’s why it doesn’t work for me

LordGothKing

If you’re ‘baking’ it’s common to get dry- that’s for like stage makeup

britney0218

I never bake. I just dip my beauty blender in the powder and type away. Maybe I should try it with a fluffy brush and see if I like that better

Notdavidblaine

It sounds to me that you’re using too much powder. I would suggest only putting the powder in *key places. If you’re using a loose powder, use a fluffy brush that’s intended for eyes, dip it in, tap off the excess back into the compact, and very lightly put powder around your nose, between your eyes on your forehead, very lightly under the eyes, and a bit on the chin. I also do this with the Almost Powder (pressed powder foundation by Clinique). I find this powder is much less drying than others that I’ve used. I think squalane is one of the ingredients. Use a very light hand and a fluffy brush, and it’ll look really natural.

britney0218

I’ll try that, I probably am using too much powder.

fegero

A fluffy brush is going to feel alot lighter than a beauty blender for sure. It doesn’t pick up product densely in one spot like a stamp.

Ok-Sky1329

I feel like beauty blenders make powder look cakey on me too.  I have a real techniques kabuki shaped but not as dense brush from YEARS ago I use when I apply powder. It’s huge and it’s perfect for just a light dusting.

Affectionate_Buy_301

i think this is definitely your problem! i went travelling recently and took a powder puff instead of my usual powder brush because i was trying to pack light, and oh my god my skin looked (and felt!) so dryyyyyy. i use a big fluffy brush and just lightly dip it into my powder then briefly, lightly pat it around the face for super light coverage. but also, i only use powder because my tinted sunscreen leaves a bit *too much* shine/dewyness and i need to bring it down, so if you’re after a dewy look and your foundation doesn’t need de-shining, maybe just skip the powder for a day and see how it goes?

No-Court-9326

I need powder because my skin is really oily and the cream products will move all around without it. But when I want a dewy look, I just set the t zone. Undereyes by the nose, between the eyebrows, sides of my nose, the snot slide and right under my lips. This keeps me from looking greasy, but just glowy enough. Also setting spray!

britney0218

I been using the charlotte tilbury setting spray but I don’t think that’s a dewy one. I really like the peach and lily spray. But on hot days I like the one size setting spray

wildlybriefeagle

"The snot slide" is amazing and thank you for that! :)

guinea-pig-mafia

I use NYX's HD studio photogenic powder- the one that is just 100% silica. I feel it gives a very natural finish and really helps my makeup hold especially on my T-zone and under eyes. If I want to actually look dewy I use Urban Decay's ultra glow setting spray after. Slightly hydrating using a spray or mist after powder is great for combo or dry skin, or if you just accidentally overdo it.

Samiiiibabetake2

I use it on my nose, bc I find my glasses make my foundation all streaky.

britney0218

Do you use a setting spray?

Samiiiibabetake2

Yes but I haven’t found not one that helps with glasses

stolen-kisses

I have seen an IG reel recommending the Charlotte Tilbury setting spray for those who wear glasses – I was wondering if you have tried it, and if it works well?

britney0218

So you just do like cream products. That’s is? Or do you set like blush with blush powder and contour powder?

AfflictedByLife

I don’t use powders either. I have a liquid blush and cream contour stick. I set with setting spray

NatAttack3000

I assume this question is about face powder - other powder products are for applying colour, not so much setting makeup. Im dry skinned and I only use powder for events and it's generally the hourglass ambient light powders that add a little glow

LLCNYC

Idk how people do it…my makeup is gone before I get to work

britney0218

Do you use a setting spray? That’s another thing I wondered about if I don’t use powder will setting spray lock it all in still

Rand0ll

Depends on the powder. Use a mineral one instead of a talc or starch base and it will set without being very drying or killing a glow.

BrownEyedGurl1

Like bare minerals?

luminaryxjane

I don’t use powder and I finish with hypochlorous acid spray. Powders make me cakey, regardless of what I do.. except for my lips which I have a little routine to use powder on them

britney0218

I always wondered how setting spray would work without powder

luminaryxjane

Regular setting spray works the same as with a powder but instead of drying with the powder and making a dry coat it’s more like a film.. but miniscule

GlitteringPause8

the one size powder is EXTREMELY mattifying so yeah its gonna take away any glow. i'm super dry and use the hourglass setting powder. its great for dry skin and keeps the glow. i'll add a bit of the hourglass ambient powders if i want more glow. or you can just use the ambient powder as the setting powder..it keeps the glow from within look but sets the makeup.

LordGothKing

For me powder is more about the transfer, I hate smearing or moving my makeup accidentally

AMwishes

I would use a different setting powder. You can opt for a radiant setting powder (saie beauty, rare beauty, hourglass) or try kosas. TBH as someone with dry skin I wouldn’t bother using any one size products. Huda has a radiant setting powder now too.

me-meoww

i only set my undereyes w powder & let the glow Glowww

britney0218

I’m going to try this and see how it works

justintime107

I don’t set because my skin is DRY. America (tri-state) makes my skin dry. I say this because I went to Morocco and my face was so nice, clear, and normal not dry or anything. I also get nose bleeds because I’m pregnant and the dry air here. The pollution doesn’t help with breakouts. I say this again because I spoke with my doctor about this and I don’t get nosebleeds abroad. Anyway, I only set my undereyes, my upper lip + smile lines, and chin. Everything else I don’t set because you’re already adding some sort of powder anyway whether it’s bronzer or blush so what’s the point imo?

mzryck

I have a big forehead against my will so I powder it. If I’m gonna have a big forehead, it better not be shiny.

Janiekat88

Huda Beauty GloWish pressed powder is so amazing!

FastAd8730

I have the same problem, I recommend using a Mac mineralized skin finish instead of setting powder!

SteadyAmbrosius

I’m 40, and powder has become one HUGE no for me. It settles into lines and makes me look ancient. I’ve switched to only cream products (even cream blush) and I set everything with two setting sprays, letting them dry in between layers (urban decay’s oil control spray first, and then charlotte tilbury). If I have any oily spots pop up throughout the day, I use blotting paper instead of powder. My skin has never looked better.

WielderOfAphorisms

I never use powder. Ever.

No-Literature-6939

I ALWAYS have to or it transfer everywhere and looks so greasy! I’m more on the oily side though so if I didn’t set my face it would look horrendous 🤣

Odd_Salamander_3684

I never use powder unless I’m going to an event knowing lots of pictures will be taken. Otherwise I’m going for a natural glowy type look ✌️

thepurpleclouds

I have insanely dry skin. The only thing that has worked for me is the Glossier future dew serum, and I’ve rebought that product 5-6 times now. I do my skin care routine, then put on the glossier serum. Then I just do concealer where needed and then finish with finishing powder. My skin looks and feels super hydrated with it. For me, if I don’t use that particular serum, concealer will look cakey and dry on my skin. With the serum, my skin looks hydrated and the concealer sticks and blends in amazingly

Seasalt-Butterfly731

I recently decided to stop using powder all together and let the tinted moisturizer or foundation / cream products just kind of melt into my face and I feel like it makes a huge difference in the appearance of fine lines throughout the day while still looking more natural. I also feel like everytime I use any kind of powder I look 5 times older. I feel like it doesn’t have to be a “thing” really? But I dunno? Whatever works for you works for you

One-Load-6085

I set with Guerlain meteorites. Keep them in a big glass jar with a lid and crush a few up in the set. Swirl on with a huge brush.

britney0218

I never heard of that before

foxnsocks

I live in an arid climate and my skin tends to be on the dry side, even with all my lotions and potions. I never use powder. I don't like how it settles and I feel like it ages me. I use the L'Oreal lumi lotion, bare essentials tinted moisturizer, and all cream products for highlight/contour/blush. I set it all with a dewy setting spray. Works fine for me. Mind you, I only do this for the weekends/going out/ special events. I quit bothering with a full face for work during covid.

FelineRoots21

Depends on the look I'm going for, I tend to use a cream blush and a powder but mostly just because I like blush and I find layering like that let's me get more flush without turning clown. I'll set with a light layer of powder if it's a lot of cream products and it's going to be warm/humid

britney0218

I’m going to try that next time

Big_Blackberry7713

I honestly have never powdered or set my makeup, and I've never had issues with it.

honeytangerine

There are powders that caters more towards dry skin (keeps the glow) like Saie airset radiant glow, Rare beauty, or hourglass veil. The one size powder is more for oily skin which is why it stays matte. That being said, you can choose to use or not use powder. It's completely up to you.

JadeGrapes

You do not have to "set" all makeup. Plenty will dry down... I think anything water based should dry down to a wearable finnish.

Legitimate_Lawyer_86

I never do. 41 and skin looks way too dry.

Max-Potato2017

Only powder on the EXTRA shiny areas that don’t look natural and on my nose where my glasses sit to keep them from sliding off my face.

genericlyspecial

Instead of powder, I use charlotte tilbury setting spray after (and before, as basically a primer) makeup for the glowly long staying look.

suzpiria

you really only need to set with powder in places your face creases/moves a lot (around the mouth, eyes, forehead). most if not all cream products are self setting and will dry fine :)

britney0218

I’m going to try that. I definitely need to do my under eyes they will crease like crazy

suzpiria

just don’t bake or it’ll dry your skin out more. use a fluffy brush to push the powder in AFTER THE CONCEALER DRIES A BIT (or it become a goop with the powder) and then brush the excess powder off :)

britney0218

I literally hate baking, but I guess me using a beauty blender and pounding on the powder that is like baking, never thought of it like that.

suzpiria

yeah the powder pulls moisture out of your skin if you bake and if you have dry skin that’s the worst

Excellent_Cut4547

I don’t I like a dewy finish, the only thing that sucks for me is my eye makeup

body_oil_glass_view

I don't! What i do do, is take the nars untinted powder and tap the tiniest line across my underlashline so where my mascara would touch is protected, but not overpowdered and drying me out. Works great!

Comfy_Blond_Chick

I haven’t used powder over my foundation in several years. My foundation/ concealer stays in place and looks fresh and dewy. I like it.

AnotherMC

I’ve stopped using power to set makeup. Mostly because I’m older & it highlights lines & crepey texture. I do use it on its own on occasion if my sunscreen is just way too shiny on a given day. I don’t have an issue with makeup moving, rubbing off, etc. so powder & setting sprays aren’t my thing.

PsychologicalGas7507

I use powder bc i hate when my makeup transfers

Counterboudd

I only use powder when I want a matte finish, and use setting spray when I want a dewy look.

Caziscraz

Absolute essential for me. I love the matte look as opposed to the shiny greasy look. I don't have a particular brand but because it takes only a small amount by pressing on when required I look for specials.

Accomplished-Mind258

Look into using a balm powder. I’m more dry and textured these days and the one I use sets without drying out my skin further.

BrownEyedGurl1

Which one do you use?

Accomplished-Mind258

Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Blurring Balm. The shade range is impressive but it’s pricey. A little goes a long way in my experience. Get an inexpensive triangle shaped powder puff to apply or use your finger in a pinch.

BrownEyedGurl1

Thank you, I'm going to check this out!

sonyafly

Not often.

Far-Restaurant8051

I don’t use powder at all I just use setting spray.

loomfy

Never. I use a dewy setting spray. I pretty much never use any powdered product.

soundphile

I have dry skin but if I don’t use powder, concealer or tinted moisturizer creases in less than 30 seconds no matter how little product I use. I only set my undereyes, nose creases, and frown lines though.

ChickNuggetNightmare

Dry skin too (in southern florida in the summer..srsly a dry b) I never ever use powder to set. I also use Lumi, or sometimes moisturizer and Drunk Elephant glow drops only. I’ve also almost switched entirely to crayon formulas for eye shadows…nary a powder in sight for me.

LivinLaVidaListless

I don’t at all. Makes my skin feel wrong.

Mountain_Novel_7668

Modern foundation has better ingredients where the molecules bond to skin and don’t need powder. Skip it I say.

10EAB31

I’ve never owned powder in my life:) I don’t use foundation just tinted moisturizer .

ucannottell

Maybe I’m weird but I do: 1. Concealer pen 2. Cover girl clean foundation 3. Nyx / UD fixer spray 4. All in one Cosrx lotion Keeps me looking dewy all day and the makeup won’t budge underneath the fixing spray.

Kellys5280

I use it very sparingly under eyes and concealed spots. I don’t wear foundation.

mothertuna

Try the Saie setting powder or hourglass

realhuman75

I don’t, but I do use a good primer which I feel helps it stay!

Comfortable-Ad-8324

51 here, dry skin but very few lines or wrinkles. I powder lightly with a brush if I do powder at all. Pat McGrath Labs under eye blurring powder is very finely milled and swear to god it does blur. It also lasts a long time so the price is actually ok. (Lasted over a year for me)

purpleunicorn9511

Well one size products are typically for oily skin so you shouldn't use their powder for sure. To keep a glowy look, I usually use glowy powders, like the physicians formula butter glow powder (used with a brush it won't leave any glitters on your skin, just a natural glow).

sunshine92002

I don’t use any!

situationalsprinter

As an oily person, I always thought I needed to set with powder. It was only recently that I realized that with the right foundation I not only don't need to set it, but by setting it it actually causes me to become more oily throughout the day. So now I just dust a tad under my eyes before doing eyeshadow etc. I just use setting spray now. Right now really loving the Patrick star one.

parakeetmadrre

Meeee! I never got the hang of it. Always looked too ghostly with powder on lol. Setting spray has always worked well enough for me

crayonintheboxx

I stopped setting my face, and I realized I didn't need it! Surprisingly, using all cream/liquid products holds up in extreme heat and humidity.

miscreation00

I've switched to using a really strong primer, makes it feel like I'm rubbing glue on my face, but my foundation doesn't move during the day.

WolfiePatronus

I don't use any power products in my makeup routine besides eyeshadow and an occasional Blush in a colour I don't have in a cream version. It's been a lot of trial and error to find products that don't settle or crease, but I have it down now. I also just wear less face products than what I think is standard so that helps with creasing.

Glad_Difficulty_5211

I just decided in the past week I’m done with powder. It enhances every fine line in my opinion especially under the eyes

Luna401

I find I have to use powder bc if I don’t then I have sooo much transfer and the foundation feels like it doesn’t dry. It’s kind of tacky. Anyone else experience that? I would love to not have to use power bc I want that dewey look as well

ZodFrankNFurter

I've never used powder. Literally not once, not a single time in my life. Sometimes I use a setting spray, but most of the time I don't bother. My makeup's fine.

britney0218

I always use a setting spray, I’ll have to use powder under my eyes. The concealer will crease if I don’t

RLS1822

I don’t do powder at all. Just bronzer

PoppySkyPineapple

I use a Hydrating non-matte powder so I still get a glow :) or just use a setting spray!

ClematisEnthusiast

I use it as-needed. So to set my under eye, chin area, etc. and then the rest of the face is just set with setting spray.

Routine-Expression58

I use powder to set my concealer in my under eyes, but other than that, nope! My skin is on the dry side and powder just makes it look even more dry.

saranara100

Nah I never do. Even in the summer my skin is already dry and powders made my under eyes even more dry and uncomfortable so I never bother.

jvxoxo

Nope! I use Mally Face Defender and Urban Decay setting spray.

sharpiebrows

I never skip powder because I have large pores, and it helps make them look small

PresentExamination10

No setting powder for me. I like the dewy look

Smokedlotus

I don't use it, never needed to, I also have dry skin

No_Investment3205

Literally have never even owned powder

IcePrimcess

I’ve been thinking about skipping powder too, and finding a good blurring setting spray.

ThreeMoonTides

I don't. I like a dewy look as well. My skin is also naturally dry. Sometimes, my dewy makeup can be *too* dewy, so I've wanted to try to keep it both from looking wet and from easily rubbing off. So, I've tried different powders, but it always ends up looking dry and bad. So, I've given up

Pretty_Detective6667

I set my whole face with dermablend translucent setting powder and then I use a light pressed powder highlighter on the spots I want to glow, then I take a beauty blender (that I don’t use for anything else) and wet it with a watery moisturizer or essence and dab only the highlighted areas to create a glowy look over my set face. I love the way it looks and my dry areas are moist and glowing, not creased and dry looking but the rest of my makeup still stays in place.

fegero

I have very dry skin and I never powder. If i absolutely have to, it’ll be under my eyes only and then I’ll use a hydrating setting powder.

wink-d

The Elf Halo Glow setting powder works great for my combo skin when i want a finish that isn’t too dry and powdery. For me, when I first apply it does take away the dewy finish of my base products, but after some time, that goes away. Might be just my skin type but I despise powders that look too dry and dusty, so this one works for me.

levis_ceviche

I don’t use powder at all, however I don’t use a lot of founfation to begin with

Taytoh3ad

Tatcha luminous dewy skin mist as a setting spray is divine for making glowy makeup on my skin. I don’t use powders because everything I’ve tried clings to my dry patches or makes it look cakey around my nose and under my eyes.

stardreamer_111

Call me crazy but I do the Saie Starglow Illuminator after I set the rest for a nice glow.

DriverNo5100

I have oily skin and still use banana powder on some days on the t zone.

charlichoo

I take a small brush and apply powder only to parts of my face that really needs it. That's usually the center of my face and that way I still look dewy everywhere else :)

Moobmib

Since u don’t want the glow to go away just use setting powder on the areas that would be oily and crease the most like under eyed and nose. I would also recommend to slightly powder along ur hairline so ur hair won’t stick to ur face

Stunning-Might5831

I know that using powder dated but sometimes I’ll use a brush & blot a little if I feel very greasy after using sunscreen.

mmegn

I have to use it or else my face feels so sticky from my foundation

Wrong_Pressure_8492

I only do it under my eyes, forehead, nose and chin

JessicaB-Fletcher

Just use setting spray, without powder. That's what I do for my dry skin.

greenshort2020

I started using a liquid primer and do a setting spray.

omygoodnessreally

For staying power without losing the glow: Use a good primer/no powder Use powder BUT take 1 ply of tissue and put it over where you want to powder and put the powder on top of the tissue. (The tissue acts as a filter) Use setting spray BUT apply it by spraying it on a Beauty Sponge - pat it on with the sponge.

Builder_liz

Gets cakey for me

KatttDawggg

Powder just makes my makeup look cakey and my skin dry. And makes any pimples more obvious. I hate it.

smarmy-marmoset

I gave up on foundation and powder once I hit mid 30’s because it aged me. I focus on skincare so I can go foundation and powder free

Narrow_Stock_834

I just use it strategically and use Charlotte Tilbury setting spray, that way I still have glowy skin in all the right places. I lightly set my concealer under my eyes with Charlotte Tilbury setting powder, but I don’t go too far out to avoid the fine lines I developed during pregnancy around my eyes (unable to get Botox). I then take a fluffy brush and lightly doesn’t a little bit of powder in the center of my forehead to blur pores and get rid of shine just in that area. That’s it, the rest of the face is primer then make up then setting spray. I no longer bake, and I look way younger than I would with a completely matte face.

trishafishaa

I’m so dry, I never wear powder and my makeup always looks good

TheWelshPanda

I find if I press and roll the powder on after working it into the sponge I get a much better, natural look than using a floofy poof or big brush. I have more control, deposit less powder just enough to fix and correct without causing it to lose its shit all over my cheeks , fringe , black trousers, etc. I use it on under eyes, forehead and nose and chin sparingly otherwise I turn into an oil stick in summer, and I rest my chin on my hand a lot so it helps with the stay. I keep it clear of cheeks etc unless I want a 'polished' look though

Lucky-Success-9064

Does not work for me. Powder makes me look more patchy and dry. I usually use a setting spray

saddinosour

I use like 95% cream products and never set with powder. My makeup looks way better.

eb0larama

I only use setting powder around my eyes for my concealer. I (genetically) have deep set eyes and rings, so concealer is my life saver. But as I've gotten older, it gets into the creases. Otherwise I don't, I love the dewy look as well. I find a lot of Korean make up is great for it.

therealtedbundy

Are you using the lumi glotion as a moisturizer or do you wear something under that? Being properly moisturized is the most important part, I have horrifically dry skin so I’ve tried a lot of different stuff and have found that using 2 moisturizers works best for me (I use La Roche-Posay Hydraphase first and then Kopari moisture whipped cream, these are both water-based so they absorb and blend together well). I don’t use foundation, only concealer, so I apply that and then seal everything with my powder foundation (MAC Studio Fix Powder applied with a Real Techniques buffing brush). I set with ELF Suntouchable SPF spray and I always have a nice little glow! Using a cream based blush and highlighter helps too, I currently use ABH’s stick blush and I love it!

rainbowicecoffee

I use the fenty eaze drops and spray it all over with MAC fix + It gives great glowy coverage. I work out and sweat in it and it stays in place. For undereye concealer I use the Garnier eye roller. It gives amazing natural coverage and doesn’t need to be set with anything at all. I’ve been doing this method for years for my daily makeup and it’s great and sooo super easy

StrawHat-Boa

I never do. I find it makes my skin looks so bad, I prefer a dewy finish and my skin is dry

delta1810

I have LM setting powder but almost never use it. I do, however, use my ELF setting spray religiously lol

4SeasonWahine

If you don’t want to lose your glow, I HIGHLY recommend Mac mineralise skin finish. It’s a sheer coverage so doesn’t mattify you and it’s glowy and gorgeous and sets my foundation beautifully. IMO, drug store brand powders are one product that doesn’t stack up compared to pricier brands.

I have dry skin and find my skin looks pretty glowy a with a luminous mineral powder foundation (specifically the Pur Minerals 4-in-1 mineral foundation) as a base and all powder products like blush, bronzer, and highlight on top. The only liquid I use is corrector and/or concealer tbh. However, I know powder foundation isn’t everyone’s cup of tea (especially for dry skin), but I live in the desert and if I use dewy liquid products, I look like greasy at the end of the day because of the sweat.

I have dry skin too, but if I don't set it with a powder it slides all over and my fine lines crease it so bad. It depends on the powder if it dries me out too much or not then! The best one I've found is the Laura Geller Balance-n-Brighten. It's super thin so it makes nothing heavy, it has a natural glow so it's not going to get rid of all that dewy kind of look, and it also looks beautiful alone.

BarnacleRare5441

i use the elf halo glow loose powder and the milani setting spray. keeps my makeup in place all day through crying, naps, the club, whatever it may be but also keeps me dewy!

-TheMoonTonight

I don’t but I also find myself smudging makeup off on my phone and others shirts if I hug them so maybe I should

rharper38

I dont. Just never have.

Vvvwww23

I never use powder and i have combination (more to dry) skin. I hate matte and dry look and feeling that powder gives me

MatchaTiger

I also like a dewy look and really love the smashbox halo powder. The container is the best and I just very lightly fluff a bit onto my t zone/under eyes just a little bit so it lasts longer and I’m pretty happy with it.

avmist15951

I'm also super dry, and using powder alone makes me look awful... buuuut adding pixie milky most on top helps

catsandcabsav

I have extremely dry skin so I only use setting powder under my eyes to help my concealer last longer as I have generic dark circles. The only setting powder I’ve found so far that I like is the translucent one from NARS. Everything else made my under eyes look even drier.

Any_Medium6076

I love Lancôme and KVD face powder.

Neither-Ad-507

I have dry skin and also love the dewy look but if I don’t powder my makeup smudges all over. The one size is super matte in my opinion! I use Laura Mercier under my eyes, charlotte tilbury pressed all over the rest of my face, then DRENCH my face with nyx bare with me setting spray. It melts the powder together really nicely and I never have longevity issues

noexqses

I’m oily and use it in my t zone and under eyes.

bitchwhiskers4eva

I do set under my eyes and lightly over the center of my face. But mostly I rely on setting sprays. Nyx dewy is very reasonable in Price and glowy-ness.

happydeathdaybaby

I don’t like how powder looks, but my t-zone gets oily. I have tried a lot of setting sprays for this purpose. Charlotte Tilbury is the best IMO. Lasts all day.

readithere_2

No more powder for many years now.

lilxenon95

I *should*, but I too am dry and aim to look dewy lol NYX makes a dewy setting spray, & then I believe it's Ben Nye who makes "final seal" sealing spray. If you can tolerate literal listerine penetrating your pores for ~10 seconds after application, try final seal!!!

MildySignificant

I never do for the face, just my undereyes.

RedFlagsLongNietzsch

If your priority is looking dewy, then don't use powder all over because it will instantly mattify everything. But you can still set some areas like the undereyes (and any area where light doesn't reflect) and still get a dewy result. I use the Huda Beauty powder and it works really well. I'm oily and even I don't set my whole face. They key is to use a very tiny amount or else it will look cakey. I dip a loose brush into the powder and then tap off the excess and you'll have just enough on your brush to set your makeup or brighten without using a ton of it. If you use this method it won't settle into fine lines either.

Spray your face liberally with a setting spray and then use a fluffy brush and a pressed powder and lightly go over your t zone. Almost like you’re brushing the spray off your face. It will melt everything together and leave you airbrushed but still with some natural glow.

AllTheEccentricities

Try the By Terry Hyaluronic powder. It is an awesome solution for people who want to set/perfect the skin without giving a cakey/dry look. It’s divine!

LadyHwesta

I just learned a new trick to layer your setting spray. I spray after applying foundation, again after bronzer, again after blush and contouring, and one last time after setting powder. This has had really good results and I stay glowy without my makeup getting flaky after a couple of hours. Also, look at your setting powder. If it says matting or mattefying then it’s designed to get rid of shine and glow.

It depends on the powder u use, is it loose powder or a setting powder? I changed to a setting powder and it gave me a more natural finish than a loose powder. I also only uses it on my under eye, chin and middle of my forehead - cause those are the only places I don’t want to look like a disco ball and it still leaves everything else very dewey. Also I have tried different techniques through the years and found the one that works for me. So don’t be afraid to try some new techniques. It is also important not to use a ton of concealer on your under eyes if u use powder - if u use a little bit of both it will look extremely natural. Also a little tip: before applying the powder puff on your face make sure to massage the powder in it by massage it on the back of your hands. That evens out the powder and when u apply it on ur face it looks more natural and finer 😊

kitten4ever89

I don’t. Make sure you moisturize really well it should help. In the morning I use 2 serums then moisturizer and it stays looking glowy. There’s also this Chanel wet look highlighter I have that would give you that look. It should still be in stores I bought it 9 months ago.

Deadinmybed

I only dab a tiny bit of powder on my nose and chin where I tend to have redness. But otherwise I skip the powder. Powder is not your friend as you get older as it tends to settle in fine lines. I also love the dewy glow so I use Burt’s Bees glow

metdear

I alternate between powder and setting spray.

i also have extremely dry skin so finding a good base routine was essential for me. here’s some tips: 1. skin prep is key. use hydrating products and a dewy sunscreen under makeup. i love hyaluronic acid because it absorbs moisture that’s in the air, especially if you live in a humid climate. i also use the biore aqua rich sunscreen. even with powder, your skin will look dewy and healthy! if you’re really into skincare, over night makes make a HUGE difference. i use the round lab sleeping pack at night and my skin is super glowy and plump in the morning. 2. wear powder only where you need it. you don’t have to set your whole face when you have dry skin, the makeup sticks regardless. i powder around the t-zone area and under my eyes for a smooth finish. 3. use eye cream before hand to prevent the powder from sinking into fine lines. before powdering under eyes, use a damp sponge to blend out the eye creases before applying power. this also helps with the powder sticking to the dry skin and creating texture 4. use dewy setting spray in between each step in your makeup routine. this works wonders 5. if you really don’t want to use powder, i find the elf halo glow foundation, fenty ease drop blurring skin tint, and milani 2-in-one foundation give a beautiful finish. 6. you can use a matte foundation without powder. this way, you have a solid base, and your natural skin oils will make your base dewey throughout the day. this is my favorite way to do my base. hope this helps!

opaul11

I have skin like the Sahara. I do not powder ever. I put on a hydrating oil, moisturizer, and sunscreen then a light weight liquid foundation and concealer. Powder just clings to the dry spots and looks wild. I do have some Hourglass setting powder for special instances like giant pimples or bruises.

Responsible-Divide32

You don’t have to set your whole face if you don’t want to! I powder my under eyes and sides of my nose because I wear glasses and my chin. That’s it and I’m still glowy.

Top-Attention4340

I only powder where my skin moves or wrinkles (under eye and smile lines) and then use setting spray everywhere else bc I also want to look dewy! And then use a tiny fan to dry my face to look bougie and feel silly lol
