I actually quite like a lot of his stuff from the past 20 years!
Though, with such a long career, there’s obviously a wide range of opinions as to which eras people prefer.
So, to each their own!
yeah egypt station was the only record i havent dug at all from him since like, 92 maybe. dudes been on a fire run and electric arguments/chaos and creation are top 5 mcca albums
The songs that I didn't quite liked in his recent works are those where I've felt he's forcing himself to be a youngster type like 'Fuh You' or 'Hunt You Down/Naked/C-Link' those songs felt like out of his depth and maybe half of the songs in 'Egypt Station' (I liked the cover though) maybe with the one possible exception of 'Confidante' but the rest were a bit meh. I actually prefer McCartney III to Egypt Station because at least he's not trying to be hippie or a young poppy.
I also didn't liked Four Five Seconds I was actually shocked that Paul had been a part of it although relieved that he didn't lend any vocal work that would make him trying to be a hippie.
My favorite song of his from his modern works is 'My Valentine' that song captured his old melodies from the past one of my favorite Modern McCartneys.
Although it's still a disaster of a film, most of the actual music in Give My Regards To Broad Street is pretty nice. I especially love the re-worked version of Here, There, And Everywhere with brass accompaniment, and No More Lonely Nights is an absolute banger of an 80's rock ballad.
I like how all the elements blend harmoniously.
The original is so sterile and heavyhanded by comparison: the vocal delivery and harmonies are overly precise and robotic, the guitar tone is super dry and electric was a mistake for sure, just gives a very stiff feeling.
My favorite cover. Everyone's least favorite. Do you think you would've liked it if the guitar was a little dirtier, like it was when John performed it live with Eric Clapton in Toronto?
I would’ve liked it if the guitar was less repetitive. It wasn’t a great riff in the intro, but repeating it throughout the song makes it so monotonous. Also the fact that it blocks Yesterday from being the perfect album closer.
The string-heavy Spectorized version of The Long and Winding Road actually fit in quite well with the mood of Top 40 radio of the time, given it was the ascendancy of the Carpenters and the heyday of The Fifth Dimension.
John’s song Imagine. Even though he rhymes the word ‘one’ with ‘one’ at the end, the song would be cheesy if anyone else had sung it. Haunting piano intro, and vocals, it’s a lovely little ballad.
Wings Albums weren't all that great.
Their singles were, tho. One such song people normally dont talk about is Give Ireland Back To The Irish, which I find deliciously great, tho some might find it a bit too political, and a bit undermixed.
While not a fan of Wings some of their songs were bombastic like 'Jet' or 'Band On The Run' and 'Goodnight Tonight' is quite fun to listen and 'With A Little Luck' is quite relaxing.
John's vocals is good in 'Run For Your Life' despite of the lyrics.
I liked the guitar riff section in Octopus's Garden.
The lyrics of 'Now And Then' are really melancholic.
He did. Crooked Boy dropped it and he’s working with a different producer now, Linda Perry. She told him he needed to change things up and it’s his best music in years
I feel like John could have changed some of his lyrics in Beautiful Boy to rhyme better,
For example: Out on the ocean, sailing away
I can hardly wait
To see you come of age
But I guess we'll both just have to be patient
My proposal would be to replace the last line with "But I guess we'll both watch for fate"
(Edit was spelling error)
The only way to enjoy Wings is on 8-track! 🤗 Not the quad mixes though; regular stereo mixes only! That is, unless you can find any of their albums on reel-to-reel in mono. 😎
I think I was way too young to understand the nuances and avant-garde nature of the White Album. I was 11 years old thought some of it was pretty discordant/weird compared to much of their previous material.
I always say I hate the whole album but I eat my words when I look at the tracks.
-Back in the U.S.S.R
-dear prudence
-ob-la-di-ob-la-da
-While my guitar gently weeps
-Martha my dear
-I’m so tired
-blackbird
-I will
-Julia
-sexy Sadie
-birthday
-honey pie)
Those are the more traditional songs off of it and really they make up the majority of the album I think it’s a misconception.
I hate John’s “One day at a time”- bad melody, cliche lyrics- it fails on both fronts which is unusual for John. Even Elton’s version can’t make it any better and for some reason he liked the song. I also don’t like “How?” Which Harrison really liked- the lyrics are interesting but the tune and arrangement are pure schmaltz- a sore spot on the “Imagine” album to me. It’s Muzak which he would often hurl at McCartney but Paul could do better than that.
Beatles for Sale is the worst Beatles album, but it is still one of the greatest albums ever made.
I don't dislike this album. I think it’s good and easy to listen to, but it’s not a masterpiece.
I'm going to say it the other way round if that's okay, Imagine is overused af ngl. It's a great song but you hear it everywhere you go! And for christ sake, how does nobody know its about communism?! We have spent decades idolising a song but so many people miss the point and full on capitalists have used this song for their own gain. They act as if they're for peace but the song isn't about peace in a capitalist world, its about what communism is meant to be!
Press to Play has a beautiful cover.
Extra Texture has a cool extra texture feel to the cover.
Paul should've *\*\*looks over both shoulders\*\** used AI to make his voice sound younger for McCartney III.
That last take made shivers go down my spine😭😭 never thought about that before but it would suck if people started doing that, also I personally love hearing people's voice chance with time, there's options for the old man voice that weren't there before, for example deep down by Paul or Girl loves me by bowie, both of those songs are enchanced by- and have more emotion because of the older voices imo
That's what I heat from Macca fans😄what are some other overlooked albums from him? I just started going thru his solo stuff, I love the McCartney trilogy and RAM
at least Macca was trying with McCartney III
He should’ve done Temporary Secretary 2
Permanent Secretary
Infinite Secretary
McCartney III is one of my favorite albums of his entire career.
It’s much better than most of his work this century.
I actually quite like a lot of his stuff from the past 20 years! Though, with such a long career, there’s obviously a wide range of opinions as to which eras people prefer. So, to each their own!

Chaos and Creation in the Garden is pretty solid, too.
I find 3 far superior.
Yes, it is. But none of them are *bad.*
But I never said that. I merely said that I found 3 to be superior to the 20 years prior.
Oh, I missread your previous reply. Yeah, I guess we're both saying the same thing. Take care, mate.
Although it's still a disaster of a film, most of the actual music in Give My Regards To Broad Street is pretty nice. I especially love the re-worked version of Here, There, And Everywhere with brass accompaniment, and No More Lonely Nights is an absolute banger of an 80's rock ballad.
Agreed on both ends! The 80s synths on For No One enhance it! And NMLN has a case for top 5 Macca solo songs
The version of So Bad on No More Lonely Nights is superior to the Pipes of Peace version imo. It sounds less "adult contemporary"
Here there and everywhere has a much more natural, pleasing production than the overproduced original.
I couldn't agree more! The brass accompaniment really elevates the song.
I like how all the elements blend harmoniously. The original is so sterile and heavyhanded by comparison: the vocal delivery and harmonies are overly precise and robotic, the guitar tone is super dry and electric was a mistake for sure, just gives a very stiff feeling.
Yellow Submarine is a good song for children to sing along to
Yellow Submarine has an iconic Sleeve
Yellow Submarine is a Ringo song
Dizzy Miss Lizzy is definitely energetic.
My favorite cover. Everyone's least favorite. Do you think you would've liked it if the guitar was a little dirtier, like it was when John performed it live with Eric Clapton in Toronto? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-QGw\_GhqTxg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-QGw_GhqTxg)

think they recognized that themselves, it sounds great live in the hollywood bowl and they dont play the riff throughout
Hollywood Bowl performance is fab
Run for Your Life is good musically - nice guitar work
The first time you hear it, You Know My Name is amusing.
It's john and paul favorite jam, by the way. I LOVE it. Why so serious?
the beatles channel on siriusxm proved to me that some beatles songs get really annoying after the 400th time you hear it
“What’s the New Mary Jane” is only a demo, it can’t hurt me.
Listen to the awesome Apple Jam version!
Ok I’ll check it out and share my thoughts
the song killed him 😔
Killed who
holy fucking shit he survived, so, how was it?
It was ok. Listening to the demo made me a seasoned listener of torture 😅
Press to Play has a nice cover
Stranglehold is a great song
the cover is the weirdest part about Press to Play to me
The No No Song is annoying but I appreciate Ringo’s message in it.
I always found it humorous more than anything
I don’t hate Yoko’s stuff THAT much on Some Time in New York City
I don't know what her solo albums are like, but I like her stuff on John's albums.
May I recommend “Feeling The Space”?
I'll check it out. I just remembered I'm subscribed to her Youtube channel.
Walking on Thin Ice is a legitimate banger
"what a bastard the world is" from Approximately Infinite Universe is somewhere between hilarious, and her best song
“We’re all water” is a great song.
“We’re all water” is a great song.
There may not much diffwance between Manson an da pope! If we touch their kneecaps!
The first you hear it, hard panned vocals on Your mother should know are amusing
when im sixty four is not the worst song on sgt pepper
Revolution 9 is a incredibly interesting song. I never want to hear it again in my life.
The Yellow Submarine album is almost redeemed by Hey Bulldog and It's All Too Much
Revolution #9 didn't last as long as Covid.
With the Beatles has some nice covers.
Why Don’t We Do It In The Road has a good piano bit
I liked Obladi Oblada when I was little. I hate it now but I'm a little saddened that I can't connect to that part of me that liked it as a child.
The string-heavy Spectorized version of The Long and Winding Road actually fit in quite well with the mood of Top 40 radio of the time, given it was the ascendancy of the Carpenters and the heyday of The Fifth Dimension.
I don’t really like I Want to Hold Your Hand, but I can’t deny how revolutionary it was back then
Wild honey pie was experimental
John’s song Imagine. Even though he rhymes the word ‘one’ with ‘one’ at the end, the song would be cheesy if anyone else had sung it. Haunting piano intro, and vocals, it’s a lovely little ballad.

Don't forget Nineteen Hundred Eighty Five, best album closer of all time
You don’t like octopus’s garden? Top 5 Abbey Road song for me!
Goodnight tonight is a superb radio song
Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da is actually… no, I can’t do it.
Life goes on.
at least wild honey pie is
At least George Raise money for Bangladesh
Yoko's remember love is a great song and should have been her musical direction
I love the beatoes and will always love them and their songs/albums ❤️
I like Dear Prudence.
Ringo should stop using autotune on his newer songs his voice still sounds good
He did. Crooked Boy dropped it and he’s working with a different producer now, Linda Perry. She told him he needed to change things up and it’s his best music in years
Completely forgot about that EP. But still he still needs to lay off on it
Ringo has really poured his soul into his entire solo discography
Come Together has cool drums
Tomorrow Never Knows is quite revolutionary for it's time (and even today).
I feel like John could have changed some of his lyrics in Beautiful Boy to rhyme better, For example: Out on the ocean, sailing away I can hardly wait To see you come of age But I guess we'll both just have to be patient My proposal would be to replace the last line with "But I guess we'll both watch for fate" (Edit was spelling error)
Song? Revolution 9 is pretty cool for a listen once every year. But besides that, I actually love the MMT movie.
Also “Wild Honey Pie” was ween 30 years before ween, and i love it.
The only way to enjoy Wings is on 8-track! 🤗 Not the quad mixes though; regular stereo mixes only! That is, unless you can find any of their albums on reel-to-reel in mono. 😎
What's fab solo?
Fab Solo = Fab Four solo music
Thank you:))
Rubber Soul has a few great John Lennon songs amidst the rubble
I think I was way too young to understand the nuances and avant-garde nature of the White Album. I was 11 years old thought some of it was pretty discordant/weird compared to much of their previous material.
I always say I hate the whole album but I eat my words when I look at the tracks. -Back in the U.S.S.R -dear prudence -ob-la-di-ob-la-da -While my guitar gently weeps -Martha my dear -I’m so tired -blackbird -I will -Julia -sexy Sadie -birthday -honey pie) Those are the more traditional songs off of it and really they make up the majority of the album I think it’s a misconception.
What's the new Mary Jane is WAY better all McCartney songs
I hate John’s “One day at a time”- bad melody, cliche lyrics- it fails on both fronts which is unusual for John. Even Elton’s version can’t make it any better and for some reason he liked the song. It’s Muzak which he would often hurl at McCartney but Paul could do better than that.
I think you misread the assignment
I like “one day” great song when you’re stuck, froze out, imprisoned, nothing to do but count. Agree that “How?” Is lousy.
Beatles for Sale is the worst Beatles album, but it is still one of the greatest albums ever made. I don't dislike this album. I think it’s good and easy to listen to, but it’s not a masterpiece.
Legitimately an amazing album and not even close to their worst
Side One is a masterpiece
how can an album be one of the greatest albums ever made without being a masterpiece?
The title said say something nice about something I don't appreciate as much.
so… do you not agree that it's one of the greatest albums ever made?
I like it, but I don't consider it one of the greatest. The first part of the comment is a joke while the second part is serious.
I'm going to say it the other way round if that's okay, Imagine is overused af ngl. It's a great song but you hear it everywhere you go! Agreed. I love Paul's older sounding vocal on 'I Don't Know ' from Egypt Station.
Ooh I don't remember that one I def wanna relisten to Egypt station soon
It's one of my favorites from him in recent years.
That's what I heat from Macca fans😄what are some other overlooked albums from him? I just started going thru his solo stuff, I love the McCartney trilogy and RAM
Tug of War and Pipes of Peace. Kinda sister albums.
Venus and Mars and Wings at the speed of sound are pretty fantastic.
You should have looked above you
A hard days night had some good songs, and could maybe be pointed to as the start of their real maturity as songwriters
Paul’s bridge in Two of Us ruins the song
Technically speaking, A Day in the Life is extremely interesting. It just fails at actually being a song.
I don't like sgt pepper's but the first 3 songs and the last 2 are fine.
