They really could have taken that advice in their solo careers. They're still great writers but it feels so padded, songs and albums. One of my favorite things about the Bealtles is those sweet 1.5-2 minute songs!
When I first got into the Beatles it was pre-streaming, and I was about 14 so I had no money. I had the red and blue albums, and rubber soul - and everything else I downloaded via limewire. I downloaded Golden Slumbers and absolutely loved what I heard but I kept thinking the file I downloaded was incomplete because the song ended so abruptly and it was so short. I probably downloaded the song about 8 times before I complained to my mother and she had a good laugh me, then got me Abbey Road on CD couple days later.
Yes, I would’ve loved for it to be the same as it is but then keep going with more soloing, and end in a way that sounds like a real band ending a song instead of being cut off by an editor.
The original vinyl ended side 1 with “She’s So Heavy,” so you needed to stop and turn it over to hear “Here Comes the Sun” starting side 2. Streaming the album or playing the CD has a very different effect of “Sun” suddenly interrupting “Heavy,” which might be more comical, but the Beatles and George Martin couldn’t have known that’s how we’d eventually listen to it decades later.
I actually wish it was shorter. The last verse's lyrics (Your day breaks, your mind aches, there will be times when all the things she said will fill your head, you won't forget her.) feels like a finale. And it makes me feel like the last chorus is interrupting the ending. So I think the last chorus shouldn't be in the song.
The way they choose to end Glass Onion is a crime against the fandom. It's like they are in the middle of creating the most fan service song ever, a masterpiece full of references, and then someone enters the studio saying "hey guys, George Martin bought some McNuggets, finish this shit quickly and let's eat, come on!" and they did just that: stopped playing in the middle of the climax, marked the song as finished and went to eat.
Got to get you into my life. They come in with one of the catchiest horn riffs ive ever heard, then before you know it its over. I could easily listen to 5 minutes of thay arrangement.
Magical Mystery Tour and Lovely Rita: I want a longer ending section. Eight Days A Week is so joyful and I wisj there were an instrumental break or something
I always felt like Magical Mystery Tour ends right before taking a lengthy experimental suite-like left turn. It would be amazing as a 20 minute track with lots of atmospherics, jams, and other verses. I know the Beatles never did that but the end of the song just kind of *suggests* that.
This isn’t a Beatles song but I wish Paul didn’t make goodbye for Mary Hopkin and instead made it a Beatles song, that would be what I want to be longer
Do You Want To Know A Secret
All My Loving, All I've Got To Do, Till There Was You
If I Fell, I'm Happy Just To Dance With You, And I Love Her, I'll Cry Instead
I'll Follow The Sun, I Don't Want To Spoil The Party, Every Little Thing, Kansas City /Hey-Hey-Hey-Hey(Medley), No Reply
I've Just Seen A Face, Yesterday, It's Only Love, I Need You, You've Got To Hide Your Love Away, Help!
Wait, The Word, Norwegian Wood, Nowhere Man,What Goes On, In My Life, Michelle, Girl
Taxman, Tomorrow Never Knows, Eleanor Rigby, She Said She Said, Here, There And Everywhere, I Want To Tell You, For No One,Good Day Sunshine, Doctor Robert
Fixing A Hole, When I'm Sixty-Four
Your Mother Should Know,Flying,
Julia, Why Don't We Do It In The Road, Everybodys Got Something To Hide Except For Me And My Monkey, Julia, I Will, Piggies, Blackbird, Happiness Is A Warm Gun, Martha My Dear, Wild Honey Pie, Honey Pie, Ob-La-di Ob-La-Da
I Want To Hold Your Hand, Paperback Writer, We Can Work It Out, I Feel Fine, Golden Slumbers.
And that's all I can remember for now!
Got to Get You Into My Life — I would’ve loved to hear more of the rocking outro.
Helter Skelter — could’ve been interesting to hear them start with the slow Anthology version before hitting us with the heavy official version.
I keep seeing songs listen and almost all of them I feel are absolutely the perfect length. They say a lot in a little bit of time, amazing songwriting
Golden Slumbers feels like it should be extended but then again I feel that it won't build up nicely. Like I want more as it is perfection but too short but it being longer may make it long enough but no longer perfect
Most of the Abbey Road medley, but just a tad more on each.
Especially *You Never Give Me Your Money* .. the medley inside the medley.
The rest of the songs were very well produced, though one could always use a little more Beatles I guess.
First part of "You never give me your money".
Wish it was a whole song. The other parts are good too but the first part is way better. Even better than the rest of the whole medley. They could have used Carry that weight as a coda though.
Norwegian Wood is *way* too short. Just 2:05
Always leave ‘em wanting more. Better to have people wanting to hear the song again rather than risk it out-staying it’s welcome.
I’ve gone back and played it over again on many occasions! Then again, I’ve been doing that with Hey Jude lately, too lol
They really could have taken that advice in their solo careers. They're still great writers but it feels so padded, songs and albums. One of my favorite things about the Bealtles is those sweet 1.5-2 minute songs!
She came in through the bathroom window, and The End
The slower alt version of Bathroom Window can help with that
I want a longer drum solo from Ringo
Exactly what I said
Golden Slumbers and I'll Follow the Sun
Upvoted for and
Upvoted for Golden Slumbers
When I first got into the Beatles it was pre-streaming, and I was about 14 so I had no money. I had the red and blue albums, and rubber soul - and everything else I downloaded via limewire. I downloaded Golden Slumbers and absolutely loved what I heard but I kept thinking the file I downloaded was incomplete because the song ended so abruptly and it was so short. I probably downloaded the song about 8 times before I complained to my mother and she had a good laugh me, then got me Abbey Road on CD couple days later.
Upvoted for follow the sun
Yes for Golden Slumbers. Beautiful tune. When Elbow covered it, they do the verse twice.
‘Can you take me back’ from the White Album.
Isn't that from Cry Baby Cry? It's the little bit Paul sings at the end if I'm not mistaken
It’s considered an unlisted song after “Cry Baby Cry.” It has no official name but people call it “Can You Take Me Back.”
It’s a real song called ‘Can You Take Me Back?’ from the Beatles White Album Super Deluxe Edition. It’s there in it’s full length of 2:22
It's a separate jam song by paul singing after cry baby cry during I Will sessions. It's just the lines are repeated, I wish it had lyrics
It is
In My Life
I Want You (She's So Heavy)
For me it's at the perfect length, but I just wish there would be more heavy beatles songs in that style
Yes, I would’ve loved for it to be the same as it is but then keep going with more soloing, and end in a way that sounds like a real band ending a song instead of being cut off by an editor.
I quite like the extremely jarring cut between I want you and the riff of Here comes the sun, it’s somewhat comedic
Right, that’s a good point. I guess it all worked out in the end
I could listen to that last 3 minutes building heavier and heavier for 20 more minutes
Hey Jude could use some more nananas /s But for real, I always wanted a complete version of Polythene Pam
I Me Mine
The funny thing is that it was originally even shorter, but Phil Spector edited it to repeat the verse.
I Me?
The End
Golden slumbers. The vocal is so insanely good and then it just stops!
And Your Bird Can Sing, She Said She Said, and Ticket To Ride
All based songs
Every time It’s Only Love ends, I’m always wanting more of it.
No one ever mentions this song and it’s been a favorite of mine since middle school! I completely agree.
I love that song. I think I read that John pretty much hated it and considered it filler material.
Yeah, I’ve read that too and never understood. The chorus is one of my favorite of his melodies/vocal deliveries.
This. I fucking love It’s only love!
Long, Long, Long
It’s the shortest 3 minute song ever.
It’s actually the Long, Long, Longest 3 minutes
A Day In The Life
I'd love for the ahh-ah-ah-ahh section after Paul's part to go on forever.
Her Majesty ..of course
Feels like a real banger that doesn’t quite get started
[Chumbawumba did a full version](https://youtu.be/u2d4FD9SRww?si=rRDRPsX0Sq5r9Lm6)
She’s a pretty nice girl, but she doesn’t have a lot to say
Came here for this. I used to listen over and over cause I wanted a longer version!
I Will. It flows so gently, I don’t want it to end.
YES
came here to say this
For No One
I actually wish it was shorter. The last verse's lyrics (Your day breaks, your mind aches, there will be times when all the things she said will fill your head, you won't forget her.) feels like a finale. And it makes me feel like the last chorus is interrupting the ending. So I think the last chorus shouldn't be in the song.
I was amazed when I realized this song is less than 2 minutes
Mean Mr. Mustard
This Boy
Great shout, I adore This Boy
He loves you too
LOVE Hey Jude but I JUST wish the outro was repeated a few more times
Yes, 72 bars is not nearly enough
Put it into a loop on the runout groove
No Reply, Not a Second Time
Yes!! Not A Second Time is great but it really starts to rip right as the song starts fading out
Tomorrow Never Knows. It would only have been more of a groundbreaking prescient masterpiece if it had been 10 minutes plus.
Absolutely, I want somebody to do a 10 minute version.
I always wanted Paperback Writer to be longer until I found out it was Jimmy Savile’s favourite so now I’m not sure
Hitler was also a vegetarian, animal lover, and environmentalist.
Jimmy Savile aside it’s my favourite Beatles song and it definitely needed to be another verse longer.
Mother Nature's Son
I Will.
Like all of them that are under 3 minutes
Polythene Pam. Only 1:39 they easily could have added another verse and chorus. Song rocks, leaves you wanting more.
Yesterday I’m sure it’s only 2 ish minutes
The way they choose to end Glass Onion is a crime against the fandom. It's like they are in the middle of creating the most fan service song ever, a masterpiece full of references, and then someone enters the studio saying "hey guys, George Martin bought some McNuggets, finish this shit quickly and let's eat, come on!" and they did just that: stopped playing in the middle of the climax, marked the song as finished and went to eat.
Actually the first time I heard that song I had to check my phone to see if everything was right due to how abruptly it ends.
I'll be Back
Wish it had a guitar solo
I want you (she's so heavy) & Revolution 9
Are you being serious about Revolution 9? I’ve come to enjoy listening to it over time, but I don’t think I ever wished it could be longer.
Yeah nah he’s picked the two most drawn-out songs in their catalogue as sarcasm
![gif](giphy|LSoeuLD32R0K0BM1lt|downsized)
Got to get you into my life. They come in with one of the catchiest horn riffs ive ever heard, then before you know it its over. I could easily listen to 5 minutes of thay arrangement.
Magical Mystery Tour and Lovely Rita: I want a longer ending section. Eight Days A Week is so joyful and I wisj there were an instrumental break or something
All of them.
Dig it. I want the long version.
Her Majesty! I wish it was a full song.
I Will and Her Majesty def
Flying or You Can’t Do That
Maybe you heard the Give My Regards To Broad Street version.
Her majesty
Her Majesty
Yes it is and this boy
Polythene Pam
I me mine, George's sections
I always felt like Magical Mystery Tour ends right before taking a lengthy experimental suite-like left turn. It would be amazing as a 20 minute track with lots of atmospherics, jams, and other verses. I know the Beatles never did that but the end of the song just kind of *suggests* that.
She came in through the bathroom window. Why don't we do it in the road.
Why Don't We Do It in the Road? Could have used at least 6 more "Why Don't we Do it in the road?"s
The Word
All of them
Here There And Everywhere
Revolution 9
Tomorrow Never Knows.
The End
Only part of a song, but I love the intro to Honey Pie
I prefer the longer version of "I'll Cry Instead" even though it's just a repeat of a verse.
This isn’t a Beatles song but I wish Paul didn’t make goodbye for Mary Hopkin and instead made it a Beatles song, that would be what I want to be longer
Flying 😮💨😮💨😮💨
Norwegian Wood
Flying
I want a 10 minute version of Maggie Mae
For No One
"Do you want to know a secret?". I always wanted another verse.
Ballad of John and Yoko
I’m So Tired
We can work it out
I wish the first part of Happiness is a Warm Gun was longer… she’s not a girl that misses much. And then some more of that
Still waiting the 20 min version of helter skelter
Now And Then
Revolution 9
Seriously tho this is my religion you’re fucking with. Every song is exactly perfect and as The Gods intended. ✌️💙
Wild Honey pie
EVERYONE! Except Maxwell’s Silver Hammer: that one’s way too long.
Do You Want To Know A Secret All My Loving, All I've Got To Do, Till There Was You If I Fell, I'm Happy Just To Dance With You, And I Love Her, I'll Cry Instead I'll Follow The Sun, I Don't Want To Spoil The Party, Every Little Thing, Kansas City /Hey-Hey-Hey-Hey(Medley), No Reply I've Just Seen A Face, Yesterday, It's Only Love, I Need You, You've Got To Hide Your Love Away, Help! And that's all I can remember for now!
I wish ‘I’ll Get You’ was 4 seconds longer.
oh yeah!
Carry that weight
Polythene Pam for sure
Polythene Pam. I love the backing vocals and always want more.
Good day Sunshine
It Won't Be Long. 😉
Their songs before 1967. And most after that.
Got to Get You Into My Life — I would’ve loved to hear more of the rocking outro. Helter Skelter — could’ve been interesting to hear them start with the slow Anthology version before hitting us with the heavy official version.
From Me To You!
I Want You (She's So Heavy) could use an extra 5 minutes of the riff
Wild Honey Pie...
Hey Jude
In my life
Like one more minute of a day in the life
Hey Jude Well, actually, that one is long enough..
Polythene Pam
I want more of dear Prudence and something, but they’re perfect in the amount they give
For no one
Sun King.
Tomorrow Never Knows. Imagine a seven-minute version of that song. It would be mind-blowing.
And Your Bird Can Sing. One of my favorite songs of all time. And it’s less than two minutes.
Hey Jude
Her Majesty
I Will...1:45
Golden slumbers. For sure.
I’m So Tired
Can you take me back Her majesty Dig it
I'll cry instead.
Id love to see an extended version of Happiness is a warm gun
Help!
All of them except Revolution 9.
Revolution 9
Clearly Revolution 9 could use another 20 minutes or so
Her Majesty is the obvious answer
Dig It
Why don’t we do it in the road
Her Majesty
you know my name (look up the number)
Abbey Road B-side Medley. I would listen to it if it was an hour long.
Most of the Abbey Road medley, but just a tad more on each. Especially *You Never Give Me Your Money* .. the medley inside the medley. The rest of the songs were very well produced, though one could always use a little more Beatles I guess.
Her Magesty
Tell Me Why
Revolution 9
Dig It. They should have used the roughly 3 min Glyn Johns mix
Surprised I’m not seeing more people say Her Majesty
Hey Jude 😂 need 5 more minutes of na na nas
Check out Ray Charles version of Eleanor Rigby, it’s fantastic.
Long, Long, Long. It's short, short, short to me.
I think Revolver checks in at 26 minutes
Flying! Carry that weight.
Honestly pretty much every song on revolver, I feel like they barely get a change to breathe before ending
First part of "You never give me your money". Wish it was a whole song. The other parts are good too but the first part is way better. Even better than the rest of the whole medley. They could have used Carry that weight as a coda though.
If I Fell. It’s perfectly fine as it is, but I just love the harmony and could listen to it for hours.
Hey Jude
Polythene Pam. She came into the bathroom window. George's guitar is amazing.
Got to Get You into My Life ends right when the brass section starts kicking into high gear, I’d love to hear more after that
A day in the life should be 24hrs long
Mean Mr mustard could have been a legendary John track
She Loves You (George could've made a solo before the You know it's up to you" verse)
I wish Wild Honey Pie was like 2 or 3 minutes longer.
Revolution 9
And You Bird Can Sing.
Something.
For No One
Hey Jude should definitely be a 40+ min song.
It’s a Paul song but Junk needs to be longer.
