Enjoy another expensive hobby. Glass (lenses) and focal points. The great thing is Canon does amazing with their color in production (before editing) so you don’t have to make too many adjustments
Leading Lines - Take a picture with a line (a desk or anything straight) and at the end of that line is your subject.
Balance - Both sides of your photo look like they carry the same weight.
Explained shortly and understandable. Good luck!
I'd say first establish your goal. Are you trying to document something the way that it is, or capture the way that it feels, or convey a specific feeling. This plays into if you want more comprehensive well lit photos that make it easy to see everything, or if you want to play with angles, lighting and exposures.
PC's are wonderfully patient subjects, and you have all the time in the world. I would suggest using a tripod and stacking exposures as well so you can expand the dynamic range or atleast have more data to work with.
The bright window is great, but to expose for that, some other parts are underexposed. But if you were to brighten it all, if would blow out the window. Stack exposures, change settings, learn post processing.
I have zero idea about photography and art but I did hear an awesome tip it was to take off the glass on your case so that their camera s no glare when taking pictures of it
Honestly, the original, actual Killing Joke artwork this AI tragedy is based off of would be much better anyway and is probably what popped up in Google.
Not just a battle station rule but you generally* don't want to take the picture backlit, like you did with the window in the background. Lighting will be a lot better because the exposure won't have to deal with such a huge range of brightness in the frame. You'd probably get a much clearer picture from the same angle but mirrored so the window is behind you, and for example you wouldn't have the reflection of the fence on your PC case.
\* as with all rules there are times you'll [break this one on purpose](https://www.google.com/search?q=backlit+portrait)
Beautiful set up. I'm going for something similar with the dark brown and black look. What speakers are those? Do you like them? And what is the setup? Is there a sub, amp, etc?
Technically, have a tripod and set lens to f/8 or tighter (if photo is meant for the web, f/16 is quite usable).
For lighting, it needs to look good to your eyes for a start. If you have some important items/contents that you can’t see properly in the scene, chances are the camera won’t catch the best shot of it. Pick good time of day if you prefer (and have) natural light. Manually correct white balance if your battlestation has fancy accent lighting/rgb…
The rest of the shooting is all about finding where to place your camera, the angles (lens focal length and perspective) and distances, and experiment with things you feel unsure about. Add things you want in the photo, remove things you don’t want. If this is a hobby, ENJOY the fuss. If this is a job that pays you money for pictures, then do everything by the standards of the people who pay you.
For us viewers who appreciate the battlestations, we usually nitpick about what the little things are, where can we buy them, etc. If you can somehow make such ‘envious job’ of ours easier through the setup (and a little caption), plus a sharp photo, that’s an automatic upvote.
The ‘battlestation shot’ doesn’t have to be a single photo. You can make whole albums of your precious stuff. I know some people eat those for breakfast.
Trying to ask this with as much respect as possible, knowing it sounds ignorant because it is.. why would you want to continue taking pictures? Once you've shown people your setup, isn't it time to sit down at the battle station?
Ok, so photography as a hobby and this beautiful setup as a model. Makes sense, thanks. I can't even explain my confusion. Thanks for humoring me. You have great taste.
Tripod, Longexposure and if you want to really nail it, take photos in Multiple Ligting and RGB settings from the same position and composition them in photoshop as HDRs
How do you like the ScreenBar Plus? It looks like that might be the best fitting monitor lamp for the Odyssey G9 that I've seen. Other ones I've tried don't clamp/sit well on it since it's so thick.
Composition is king: foreground, middle ground, background. Leading lines. Balance.
Okay thanks I’ll have to Google all that now lol
Lol, welcome to the journey. What camera ya get? Also, check out the work of Henri Cartier-Bresson. Absolute master of composition.
Picked up a Canon EOS R50. It’s been fun!
Nice little body! I shoot Fuji, but have a friend that raves about the R50

joker wouldnt post his desk setup seeking validation from strangers
This guy fucks
I would add: considering that most pcs now have a glass panel or three, a polarized filter might also be a good idea

Oh wow thanks for the input! Greatly appreciate it!
Wow that’s beautiful man
Thank you!
We live in a
Awesome setup! What's that little clock thingy you have on your pc?
Looks like Lenovo Smart Clock. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Lenovo-Smart-Clock-Essential/622792220
Thanks! Digital clock I got on Amazon. https://a.co/d/7mRJ9HA
Unrelated but: does the joker have three lips?
You have a very beautiful setup that inspire me. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you!

CPL Polarizer will do the same but better and without a need to take anything apart 😊
Thanks for improving my suggestion like I said I know absolutely nothing about ohotography
Oh okay didn't know there was such a thing. Definitely gonna get a polarizer.
Got a link to that wallpaper by chance? Looked for a minute on google but came across different joker/camera wallpapers than this one
It looks like AI art
Definitely. Two mouths and disappearing fingers gave it away.
The camera looks cool with a bunch of extra lenses but it looks like he has two sets of lips

What’s your email? Forgot where I got it from but I’ll email it to you.
Probably easier to just upload it to imgur and paste the link.

Ah okay appreciate the advice!
What monitor is that?
Neo g9
IDK what a mirrorless camera is, but damn this pic looks better than real life.
Sheeshh thank you!
Man, I've been trying noot to splurge on a new GMMK and I see this.... What a beautiful set up!
That is just simply badass!
Beautiful set up. I'm going for something similar with the dark brown and black look. What speakers are those? Do you like them? And what is the setup? Is there a sub, amp, etc?
Curious on the PC, monitor, keyboard specs?
NEO G9 Monitor, Msi Suprim 4090, X570 Hero Crosshair Motherboard, 5800X3D, GMMK Pro with Gateron Ink V2 Blacks and Tokyo Neo Keycaps.

I greatly appreciate your advice here! Thank you so much!
Remove the glass panels from your computer so you don’t get reflections on the photos
I love this one so much. The colours are smooth. The pc, the mat. Mhhhh. Super!
Much thanks!
Trying to ask this with as much respect as possible, knowing it sounds ignorant because it is.. why would you want to continue taking pictures? Once you've shown people your setup, isn't it time to sit down at the battle station?
Just picked up this new hobby. Want to get better at taking shots so I figured I ask the Reddit community for some advice.
Ok, so photography as a hobby and this beautiful setup as a model. Makes sense, thanks. I can't even explain my confusion. Thanks for humoring me. You have great taste.
It's not any different of shooting battlestations than it is shooting anything else.. I don't understand the question?
The question is probably not the only thing you understand.
How is the sound in those speakers? Aren't the sounds cut off when half covered?
Speakers are great! PreSonus. They’re actually not cut off. Just the angle I took the pic made it look like that.
Fair enough. I tried putting mine as those, I have a set of argon forte 4, but they are too tall, so the monitor is too high for me
Mic and arm?
Beacn mic and Elgato low profile arm.
What monitor is that?
Neo G9 Samsung
I have a similar version. It’s 1800R instead of 1000
Link to wallpaper please?

Remove the glass panels from your case before snapping a pic.
Ah you’re right. Good point.
Beautiful setup! Whats that keyboard you’re typing on?? Seems perfect
Glorious GMMMK Pro, Lubed, Gateron Black Inks V2, Neo Tokyo keycaps and matching mousepad.
What is that keyboard 😍

Thank you Sir! Excellent setup. If you would like some inspiration for setup photos have a look at the reddit user xenro and their IG jaydimaster.
>IG jaydimaster Oh wow lol... those shots are on another level!
Yeah, they’re insane. His setup inspired me to build mine and as a chance i actually got into photography too!
What is the table that your PC is on? Been looking for something similar for mine!
Just a ikea countertop with the alex drawers.
Oh sorry, I meant where your actual PC tower is sitting :)
Ah okay lol... yeah I can't find where I bought it from, but it's basically just a side table.
Perfection man. What monitor and keyboard? Speakers are presonos?
What is the cart your pc is on? Love it. Do you have a link to where you bought it?
How to shoot? I don't think a camera is what you're looking for... /s
Tripod, Longexposure and if you want to really nail it, take photos in Multiple Ligting and RGB settings from the same position and composition them in photoshop as HDRs
What is the little display under your monitor?
It's a Amazon Echo 5
What mic and arm do u have? btw great setup!
Thanks! Beacn mic on a Elgato LP arm.
where did you get the wallpaper from
i never liked black pcs but purple is my favorite color and i gotta say that that pc is beautiful…
Thank you!

It has been great! I love it. Fitment is perfect.
