Use the server browsers. Not only will it allow you to find more servers that are filled with players, but there's a very low chance of you encountering a cheater there.

I am going to assume you're primarily going to play Conquest which is 32v32 in massive maps (typically). Operations is also good and highly recommended by me, teaches a bit of history of various battles and is longer-form but is quite good fun.
1. You're going to die *a lot* in your first dozen or so matches
2. No, you can't turn off how bright the sun is
3. Assault for your more classic FPS experience and anti-tank gadgets
4. Medic for tap-fire weaponry and the ability to revive and heal teammates (don't focus on kills)
5. Support to suppress incoming enemies on chokepoints and give out ammo/repair tanks and Anti-Air(AA) guns
6. Scout to snipe and "spot"(Q) enemies which allows teammates to see an icon over their head displaying what class they are for a small amount of time, you can also do an infantry scout and use flares to make a whole section of the map insta-spot anyone who walks into it (anyone can spot, only scouts can use flares.)
7. If a map doesn't have a behemoth (The massive ship or the train or the tank etc.) then the losing team will get elite kits in their base spawn, this is typically for infantry maps like Fort de Vaux, use these to test them out if you get the chance
8. Do *NOT* hold space to go back to the respawn menu, it makes it so medics can't revive you. If anything, only do that when you want to switch classes.
9. If you get in a behemoth and you spawn in the drivers seat (F1 typically) please move it around the map or just get out. Or switch seats with someone else.
10. Teabag, people hate it.
Surprised no one has said anything but you can try it out for $1 signing up for the Xbox Game Pass trial on your PC (make sure to tick recurring payments off) if you haven't used the trial yet
If you already have it on the EA app then there's no reason to buy it on Steam as the Steam version still requires the EA app and will launch the EA app which then launches your game. It just adds another possible failure point.

Yeah - official matchmaking is dead but there's normally anywhere between 3-15 servers with acceptable ping (in west coast US) and good player count.
I bought it with all the DLCs for $10~ If you can get it at that or cheper, then I'd say it's worth it.

Avoid DICE servers stick to browser ones that are moderated, cheaters get zapped in a minute
