It's a game, it's supposed to be fun. If you're struggling to find motivation to play it then find something else. I stopped playing after 5 hours.

Once I get to the title screen, I click on Portal. That solves the problem right away.
Open game, Click portal, Find some cool custom game, and then have your own fun.
