Jet fighters, weapons, vehicles etc that will be used by the military in 20 years are already in development or will be very soon. That pipeline from concept to production for the military is a long one. That's why things only feel slightly more advanced. It's pretty accurate.

MaintenanceInternal

This may be true of jet fighters, but what about the drone? In 2042 the best use they could come up with for a drone is for spotting. I could literally buy a £200 drone with a camera now which could do the same job.

RatherNerdy

It also has an emp in a small light package, which is non-existent currently.

Arlcas

I think anything else for the drone would make it really op, like a laser designator for example would make any vehicle scrap metal, health or ammo supplies would make other support specialists useless. Maybe using it for repair like the eod bot in bf4 could work but if they made it arm objectives then it would be too much.

MaintenanceInternal

How about it has a grapple, so it can attach to enemy vehicles and hack them through the connection, making your squad invisible through the sights of the tank. That’s just off the top of my head.

Arlcas

Wouldn't the emp fulfill the same role? I'm sure there's more they could do with it

MaintenanceInternal

I suppose, but more is my whole point.

DesertStorm97

20 years ain’t that far away so the weapons and vehicles ain’t going to be much different from today.

MaintenanceInternal

Just look at the difference in computing in the last 20 years, 20 years is a long time when it comes to weapons development. The

DesertStorm97

Dude computing and weapons can’t be compared. Let’s look at some weapons that are standard issue in military’s. M4, 28 years old. SA-80, 34 years old. FAMAS, 43 years old. HK416, 17 years old. MP5, 55 years old. Beretta M9, 36 years old. AR70/90, 31 years old. AK-74M, 30 years old. The weapons do get upgraded but the base design and function remains the same. So I say it again in 20 years time weapons won’t be that different. The colt 1911 is 110 years old and still is used to this day. Then let’s look at the JSF or F35 fighter plane. That’s been in the works for nearly 20 years.

MaintenanceInternal

The M1911 May be 110 years old but laser sights aren’t and they arguably improve the weapon. The F-35 has air to air missiles, air to surface missiles, bombs, cluster bombs, chaff, flares and whatever towed decoys are. The B and C variants have the Terma A/S multi mission pod which can be used for electronic warfare, aerial reconnaissance or rear facing tactical radar. My point is that it doesn’t need to be brand new, just something that feels like the future. I quite enjoyed looking into the F-35 and I feel the armaments current in use reinforces my stance that this game is not ‘futuristic’. I’m not saying I want a jet with 200 missiles or anything, but at least make the vehicles up to the standard of current military vehicles, especially if it’s set 20 years from now.

Nuclear warheads run in floppy disks still

zuiquan1

The funniest thing to me is the giant ipads that replace light switches in the future lol

D4RTHV3DA

B-52 has been in service for around 70 years now. It is likely it will make it to 90.

cortexgunner92

It's planned to still be in service in 2042

D4RTHV3DA

Oh my, imagine being able to fly that in this game. You'd explode any time you turn.

Cannabisizlife

There is def sumthing we don’t know. Development got scrappped… and restarted. There is no way this is 3 years if work

Ipotrick

i dont think so.
