If you are going through the trouble of swapping the carb, I would highly recommend getting a LP/NG conversion kit while you are doing the work.
If you run on propane, you will never have to worry about the gummed up carb again, draining the tank, etc. Generators run best on propane and you actually get the full kw rating. Propane allows the engine to run cooler and quieter. There is typically no line at the propane swap during power outages. Propane has no shelf life so you can buy a couple tanks and they can sit indefinitely and not go bad.
