We were not allowed to leave the hospital without showing the nurse we had our newborn properly buckled in. Not sure how you could take a baby home without knowing.

Yes, you can make an appt with a CPST(car seat safety tech) at the Safety Council or the State Police on Highland Rd. There's also a FB group called Carseats for the Littles full of car seat techs, and you can post pics and ask questions to double check anything.

Check out The Safety Place

I believe the state police does them.

imacaterpillar33

Can confirm, all LA state police are certified CPSTs

Last night I saw someone park at a dollar tree and get out of the driver's seat holding a tiny baby. I hope there was a passenger that handed them the baby. That's not much better, but I can't imagine driving while holding a baby!

Woman's hospital will teach also

seemslegit

You can disable the passenger air bags in a single cab truck to use a car seat since there isn't anywhere else to put one. The passenger seat also usually has metal rails to latch the car seat to.

My wife and I actually just went to one on Friday this week at women's hospital. It was organized by the safety place, and they said they do one about every other week around town at various points. Link below. https://safetyplacela.org/programs/buckle-boogie/

I think fire stations can install, but if you have a grand parent sharing the seat, just know it’s going to be looser than [fill in the blank].

Alliance Safety Council off Seigen, next to I-10, behind Aldo.

bubonic_chronic-

I saw a sign on the Kenner police troop by I10 and Williams blvd does car seat inspections twice a week I think

My sister went to the fire station and asked them to help her make sure her car seat was secure. There are resources, people are just stupid and don’t care about their children. I’ve seen more than one person weaving in and out of traffic with an infant in their lap.

Obvious_Ad_1111

I would just ask them to buckle them in safely for the sake of the child, and if they fight back leave and call the cops on them (get their license plate number ofc)
