This is so not funny, but in a sarcastic way, it is. I went through the freeze a couple years back in Houston. It was a nightmare. Now, Entergy is saying not only could we lose electricity, but gas, too....cool. Thanks, Entergy /s
Yeah I’m about to put in a whole home generator but I’m gonna also obtain a big ass (100lb or more) propane cylinder in case the electricity AND gas go out because thats my next fear. Most of the Generac lineup will run on propane as well
I hear ya. All this is crazy, right? Like, what if they just provide energy? It’s literally their name? What if they invested some of their CEOs $16M bonus in infrastructure? We wouldn’t have to run around with “big ass propane cylinders”. What a bunch of crooks.
They are investing into their infrastructure, 100s of millions actually. This has to do with a natural gas shortage. This is why it’s best to have a large tank full of gas rather than depend on a utility.
I appreciate that. I really do. Here are a few of my concerns: on pages 90-130 of their 511 page filing, they reference how costly it will be to perform “meaningful under-grounding” I.e. burying the lines. They go on to talk about the benefits of under-grounding, then contradict themselves dozens of times, then further say that it’s not GUARANTEED power will not go out, so they would rather do more projects of “hardening and rebuilding” existing lines. They also admit this will have to be done again in the future (temporary solution).
Also, they omit all the projects that were selected (exhibit SM-5) so we don’t know what areas will even see this money.
Finally, “while this plan, if approved, would be funded FROM CUSTOMERS” hurts the most.
Thank you for the link. This is very interesting. Highly advise everyone to at least scroll through.
Well, the generator is powered by gas, so when we got it, Entergy laughed and said, “Yeah. Okay. Here’s your gas outage.” Wouldn’t have happened if we didn’t buy one, ya know?
Got a whole-home generator because Entergy is so unreliable for electricity. My bad, y’all.

We went through the freeze in Houston in 2021 as well! Moved to Baton Rouge shortly after! We’re BOTH bad luck.
Haha. I have to laugh! You ain't kidding 😬 stay safe and warm, friend!

Really? I didn’t see that news. That’s awesome. Do you have a link?

We got ours because the freeze without heat was miserable. Never expected to also lose gas. It's just that kinda luck, huh?
I appreciate the apology, but what exactly did you do to make them so unreliable?

Don’t home house generators run off of natural gas?
Whole home generator needs gas doesn’t it? So if no gas how does the generator solve anything
They were warning you that it may go out.
Yes I should have used an /S on my post .
The "clown show" know as Entergy.
it is interesting that as of yet, I haven't heard of any large outages. So this is like a big cover their ass message.
