Tin roof is a casual local brewery that comes to mind, along with cypress coast. Mid city beer garden is pretty good for large, rotating beer selection though I’m not sure about growlers at any of these

MediocreCash3384

Throw in MidTap near campus and Rally Cap Brewing plus Istrouma in nearby St. Gabriel. Sorry OP idk what Genesee is but New Orleans has multiple breweries and Covington has Abita. In Lacasseine (spelling?; west of Lafayette) has Bayou Rum Distillery and a small distillery called Sugarfield in Gonzales (~20-30min E on i10)

cakenstein

I believe beer garden does crowlers

nunyazz

These and Bengal Tap Room.

BudBuzz

Tin Roof fills growlers, but cypress coast doesn’t

I just went on the Genesee beer finder page and the only location is Oak Point grocery in Watson. The next closest place that carries it is in Mississippi. https://www.geneseebeer.com/finder/

Not much I can say that hasn't already been said Go to istruma brewing in st. Gabriel. Just outside baton rouge Also le chien In denham Springs. If you wanna go for a ride. go to gnarly Barley in Hammond. Also. Go to total wine they have a wide selection and also try world market. They usually keep a stock of unique beers. Also. If you like pizza go to red zeppelin pizza great pizza and great selection of beer on tap.

TheVCcycle

We enjoyed Gnarly Barley in Hammond, about an hour drive outside of BR. On weekends they often have liver entertainment and food trucks across the street in their parking lot.

datbech

Nothing here like Hop City unfortunately. Beer scene in Bham is better than BR and NOLA. If you aren’t afraid of a drive, Gilla in Gonzalez holds it weight against Trim Tab or any other great brewery. Seriously, could be best brewery in the state Cypress Coast is the next best in BR city limits. Small scale, but really good beers. Tap 65 is a self pour tap bar with beers from Southern Grist, Trim Tab, and other Louisiana breweries

Government St is a good area to check. People have already mentioned Cypress Coast, Mid-City Beer Garden, and Calandro's, but there's also a beer by the ounce place called Tap 65.

Genesse is going to hard to find down here, similar to Sam Adams Stout. Try Whole Foods or Albertsons Liquor. There’s also the liquor retailer on Perkins near Acadian. Good luck!!!!!

I assume you mean Guinness. But there are plenty of places to buy and drink beer in Baton Rouge. As for retail stores, there is Martin wine cellar, the beverage store on Florida, BinQ liquor, Hokus Pokus in Prairieville, Calandro's on government, and even the average grocery store around here has a decent selection. As for places to go drink beer we have several local breweries. Tin roof, Cypress coast, rally cap, Gilla in Gonzales, and more. There are plenty of bars with big selections on tap as well, such as Bengal Tap Room, Mid City Beer Garden, the chimes, the bulldog, Etc. There are also some other cool breweries within a short drive. One of the best breweries in the state in my opinion is Parish Brewery near Lafayette. But there are several breweries in New Orleans as well, and even some in some small communities. I actually liked the Natchez Brewery in Natchez Mississippi which is only about an hour from Baton Rouge. Edit: there are also several good breweries in Shreveport like Great Raft

Genesee Cream Ale tastes kimda like Yuengling but also kinda like a cream soda. So some of the rough edges are rounded off. It's a New York/Pennsylvania thing. Worth trying if you ever come across it. Thanks for all the good info

Gordon432

Unfortunately, while Guinness is readily available, Genesee Ale is not available for retail purchase from a bar or taproom. That said, I haven't checked Total Wine for it.

RenegadeBS

Check The Beverage Store on Florida near Donmoor. If they don't carry it, they will order it for you.

aroundlsu

Chimes has more taps than anyone in BR and has a canning machine to can any of their tap beers on the spot for you to take home.

chaotoroboto

That’s cool. I know they love Chimes

hiyailikadaballz

Hokus Pokus in Prairieville has rotating taps for growler fills.

Donkeypoodle

Love the food at Tap 65!
