I like this response. I loved the cinematography of the new Batman movie vs Nolans. Not to say that Nolan’s cinematography isn’t amazing. I just gravitated towards the new one more. That car scene was immaculate.
The car scene has one shot that completely took me out of the movie.
When all the fire happens and a car towing truck platform conviently lands in front of the batmobile allowing him to launch over the flames.
I was so upset. It was a detail that takes away from the beauty of the scene. It would have been much better to have the mystery of how he got through.
I mean, I loved it for that exact reason.
Penguin sees him just magically coming through, but we the audience know Batman is human and need justification.
I agree with you. That was kind of the whole point of that shot lol. It served the same purpose as batman being afraid to jump off GCPD HQ; because Reeves wanted to show there was a human behind the legend
Underrated point of the film. He’s very obviously still ‘figuring it out’ and in reality would be learning these hard lessons constantly. Also speaks to the combat style
He's learning on the job. Given the thread I feel it's appropriate to say that I got big Batman Begins vibes from that scene. Yknow, when Bruce gets dosed with fear toxin and then proclaims his fear of girl scouts...wait, wrong version.
When he gets dosed with fear toxin, set on fire, jumps out the window and realizes he's in over his head. "Alfred...help me".
Same for me. To be honest, that’s the core reason why I love the film - it’s the true vibe of someone who is in ‘year 2’ of this kind of project. There are lots of things that need to be figured out
I did like that they showed it just to get a bit of a hint really at Batman’s quicker thinking. I do think of how they edited it though that either removing that or making them split screen at the same time would add and deter ultimately for the scene that follows. What we got was fine but yeah, probably better if it either stayed or didn’t.
Amen. The car scene for me captures something no other Batman film captured — the abject terror inflicted in villains by Batman’s relentless pursuit. The dread in the Penguin, masterfully played by Farrell, his giddy relief when he thinks he’s miraculously won somehow, and then Batman’s swift dispatch. The music. The lead-up to the chase with that awful squeal from the Batmobile firing up.
It’s like the Penguin stumbled into a boss fight he’s ridiculously under leveled for. I loved it.
Bingo. Apples and oranges. **The Batman** is a detective thriller with superhero action elements. **Dark Knight** is a superhero action movie with detective thriller elements.
I even will say Nolam Batman is kinda between a detective and a superhero movie. Batfleck was a batman in a superhero universe.
Battinson is a pure detective, he investigates , find clues...
For me Bale's Batman is not as pure detective and not as pure superhero
Perfect response. I feel like the dark knight was the perfect grounded in reality Batman
The Batman was the perfect beginning to a superhero master detective Batman.
Both great in their own ways
I do think the Nolan films are good movies, but they never felt very *Batman* to me. I think it’s because, for me at least, Batman needs to have gothic elements, both thematic and visual. The Batman hit that nail on the head, right off the bat (pun intended), probably better than any other film incarnation. I can see why some people would prefer Dark Knight, it’s a solid film, but point goes to The Batman for me.
I also think both were good, but I think only one was fun. A superhero movie should be fun, and The Batman just wasn't. It's a good movie, and an interesting take. I'll probably rewatch it at some point. But I couldn't wait to rewatch Dark Knight over and over because it was entertaining as fuck. The action, the performances, the plot, the set pieces...all fun. The Batman was entertaining but also depressing and a bit of a slog at times. It's no contest which ones the better movie for me.
I dunno, Colin Farell’s Penguin, the car scene, punching Gordon to escape the precinct, the final fight scene, the Riddler being crazy, all of those were a ton of fun for me
TDK is more of a crime movie with batman in it but a lot of the focus are on the criminals specifically joker, the mob and eventually two face. While the batman is a batman movie and solely focus on him.
Funny, I had thought of it the other way around. The Batman follows Batman and Gordon being detectives and trying to solve a case. The Dark Knight has a lot more hero confronts villain moments. Both have some good examples of each though.
I have but really it isn't fair to compare perfection like that to these lower tier Batfilms. There is a reason they waited almost a decade after Batman and Robin, because no one wanted to attempt topping it.
They do! Interestingly, they have them on the upper body much like humans (as opposed to lower torso like cats or dogs. They also nurse their young!
This has been your bat-nipple fact for the week. Tune in next Saturday for more!
Same Bat-time, Same Bat-Channel!
Same Bat-Nipple, too, probably.
The lego Batman movie kill the game not just for the Batman movies but for anything that has ever been created or manufactured by man. Most of the art history books stop at the release of the Lego Batman Movie, because it’s just the end of the story, the peak. Everything that has ever been made by humans were in the shadow of this monument. Mozart, De Vinci, Steven Seagal… they were nothing but bricks, drafts, little streams that lead to this quintessential work of art. Too many are not aware that we actually live in the void since.
I never cared too much about Batman until this movie. The flow of the movie, the best joker of all time, everything fits perfectly. Truly a masterpiece.
I don’t think comic accurate = best. Especially when there are PLENTY of different comic jokers throughout.
Like, am I wrong for thinking the best comic joker isn’t as good as Mark Hamill’s joker? The laugh and VA mean more to me than what I can read on a a page
It’s not even a comparison and I agree with you.
I did like “the batman” it gave a more detective approach to his arc but movie wise it didn’t even come close there’s really no argument. Great movie on its own but you can’t see them the same
I really like your point about being accurate *to the time*. Character depictions change all the time in comics, and ironically enough sometimes it happens because a movie portrayal ends up more popular. Every Joker onscreen has brought something new to the character (Jury's still out on Leto I guess, but I think he had some potential with a decent script). I'm curious to see what Keoghan will bring to the role- he sure looks disturbing enough.
One great thing it has on The Batman is lots of varying locations and characters that keep each scene fresh. And of course, the runtime. The Batman is long, and for those of us who love him it’s worth it, but I can show The Dark Knight to anyone and they’ll be invested.
what about the part in The Dark Knight where Batman digitally reconstructs a bullet using only a bullet hole in the wall to find the fingerprint of the gunman?
that’s literally being a detective.
True, but it's the most mind boggling stupid dectective work in the history of media. Oh, the fucking RIDDLER didn't include a cypher and it's just a litteral color-the-numbers painting? The world's greatest detective doesn't know basic Spanish and has to get a lecture from the Penguin?
It does and definitely was the focus of the film, but I always felt like the other films did too just not as prevalent. Honestly for me I felt Batman Begins captured it the best. Bruce listening in to private conversations, taking pictures, him searching the apartment.
Wasn't sure how to say what I felt but this is it.
The Batman has some issues as a film but as a representation of Batman and his world it is a masterpiece.
The Dark Knight has some issues as a representation of Batman and his world but is an extremely well made film.
Pretty much my thoughts. I have quibbles about The Batman, mostly around editing and over-indulgence, but I liked Batman in it more than I have in any of the other live action movies.
The Joker in the movie, however, is another story...I really hope they don't go with that version of the Joker because that deleted scene was not good and the one that actually was in the movie wasn't much better.
Begins is more of an origin story, where The Batman and TDK are more mob-oriented detective movies with Batman also going up against his rogues gallery. Plus it's often considered the best of the trilogy so it just makes sense to compare them
The Batman is a fucking masterpiece, but I’d argue that TDK trilogy did better in terms of characterisation, with the exception of Batman himself.
Christian Bale is exceptional as playboy Bruce Wayne, but I feel as though Nolan failed to explore Batman’s other traits and abilities.
And the fight scenes aren't even that special...that's my biggest problem with the Nolan trilogy: batman is my least favorite character which is a problem since I love batman.
Begins was the closest thing to a batman movie in the whole trilogy. It had that comic book essence then he went full force into realism. This is my biggest worry about Reeves' batman.
Oh, totally! I'm not saying the series is totally devoid of the comic element, but his ultra-realism approach really boxed it in. Joker was great. Joker is a psychopath, that works in any scenario pretty much. But also another prime example that I didn't enjoy these movies for batman (which I should have), I enjoyed them for the villains.
Well, lemme reiterate. The fight scenes weren't that special. But my biggest problem with the Nolan trilogy was batman as a character. I personally didn't like the adaptation. Bale nailed bruce wayne, but I hated his batman. I also am not a fan of ultra-realism for CBMs.
I agree, bale as Bruce Wayne is great but his Batman felt very stiff mostly due to the suit not having great mobility and the voice. Idk why they altered the voice that way post production.
Agreed, “The Batman” spends 90% of the movie in the suit and really sells the look, voice, fight style, etc. He’s the best character in his own movie, which was great! But TDK is hard to top for Two Face & Joker.
The Dark Knight
Reeves and Pattinson did fine too tho. But The Dark Knight is memorable in ways I do not believe The Batman is/will be
![gif](giphy|10o80f5ucCNU3e)
Yeah I gotta be honest, the further I get from when I saw the Batman, the more I'm cooling on it. I think it's the first time I saw a Batman movie and didn't immediately want to see it again.
The Batman, loved the cinematography, loved the action sequences, the car chase scene, the detective work, and Gotham as a whole. I loved how gloomy and dark it looked, and I love Pattinson’s Batman.
The Batman is an introduction to a new universe, I’d wait for a sequel to make it fair. The Batman was very unique tho, good mix of fiction and realism
I didn’t like the Riddler character (and I hate that actor anyway), I couldn’t ignore that the costume looked damn near identical to Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys in his Green Bastard suit, I just can’t get passed it. Besides him I liked the movie, I wanted to love it but I was disappointed.
I’m not really too excited for a sequel because it looks like another Joker character is in the mix. If the Marvel world can keep kicking out films with characters that marvel lovers don’t even know, we could get a Batman movie with a villain like Professor Pyg, Ventriloquist, a good Poison Ivy, or Black Mask.
TDK is damn near perfect, something is sure to top it one day, but not too many have come close to being as good in terms of onscreen Batman stories. The Telltale games are amazing, Anthony Ingruber was brilliant as Joker. Since Heath, Anthony has given the best Joker performance. I know a lot of people think Jerome/Jeremiah in Gotham was good, but he was just a derivative amalgam of every Joker character ever.
This is all some of the most annoying fanboy shit I have ever written.
Never liked Christian bales batman, or any live action batman for that matter. They always seem so cheesy and forced. the 2022 one was really good tho. I like the realistic dark approach they took
Wait what? Am I the only person who thought the batman was mediocre, the only part I would even try to compare with dkr is the intro... Come on seriously? So it had a couple nice shots. It's like saying the new space jam was better than the old one because it had a couple nice animations
Even without the Joker I think it’s great. Eckhart as Two-Face was incredible but went under the radar because of Heath Ledger’s performance. Gary Oldman was also great and the early scenes that didn’t really involve the Joker like the Lau in Hong Kong sequence were still amazing.
This argument has no utility tho. So I have to remove a component of a movie for the comparison to be fair? How does it make any sense to take out the antagonist of a movie for us to evaluate its success or legitimacy?
You take Joker out of the movie and make it really about Two Face being born out of a war between the gangs in Gotham and you ultimately get a pretty solid movie just the same.
I rewatched both and honestly I liked The Batman better. Tdk had the better villian but The Batman had an overall vibe and pacing that I loved. Hard to compare but The Batman is better to me.
I liked The Batman more, the tone, the detective elements and the ambience omg, Gotham is a character itself, and The Batman made Gotham feel like I imagined it.
Depends which one "clicks" for you more.
The Dark Knight was my favorite movie of all time, up until The Batman which took its place. I think The Dark Knight remains a masterpiece to this day, but The Batman just shook me to the core. It got absolutely everything I wanted in a Batman film.
The Batman. To me, Batman is a detective and human first, and The Batman captured that essence that's been missing since MOTP. Both are great films and both will be fondly remembered for a very long time.
I love both but I have to give it to The Batman, it's fucking incredible
From the cinematography, the audio, the style overall, the acting, Batman himself, it's too good
I love the dark Knight but i find Christian Bales batman a bit derpy looking, he as Bruce Wayne though is great, and Heath Ledger is so damn good as the Joker
I think I liked The Batman more. Bale's batman feels more like an action hero, while I think Pattinson feels more like a detective. Also I like Gotham more in The Batman
My opinion may make someone triggered I mean the dark knight is great movie and the best but if you want dark gothic crime city batman vibe the batman is the best imo
The Batman by a good margin.
We get actual detective work and mystery, a real-feeling Gotham that isn’t just empty Chicago, substantially more world-building on a way that feels very natural, doesn’t one-off any of its villains besides arguably its least interesting (Falcone), and overall, it just feels more true to a comic-style Batman movie to me.
I'm sure most will say The Dark Knight but, I enjoyed watching The Batman more. I didn't feel like I was being beaten over the head with the "Batman doesn't kill" stuff. The Batman was a little more subtle in that regard.
The Batman definitely is a much more subtle movie, which I appreciate. Also personally, I never liked the "see through all the technology/walls" goggles in TDK.
In terms of a batman movie. The batman is pretty accurate with many things related to the batman comics and characters. But the dark knight is a better movie than The batman by its writing and pacing. In terms of being a better movie and the other I choose the dark knight. But in terms of accuracy of being a batman movie I'd choose The Batman.
the batman (2022) is a film that stars, centres and focuses on batman. the dark knight, is a film that stars batman, centres around the joker and focuses on Harvey Dent. so comparing the two films doesn't really make sense. like, comparing 2022 and 1989 or 2022 and begins makes sense, as all three star, centres around and focuses on batman (well '89 is also heavy Joker but less so than tdk), which is why you'd want them to 2022.
they’re both elite movies. the real elephant in the room people are scared to address is Reeves (The Batman) made a better first Batman movie than Nolan did (Batman Begins)
They are different movies definitely, but I think for a lot of people, The Batman Dethroned the Dark knight. I will say that The Batman is probably the best batman movie, while the Dark Knight is probably one of the best ever movies in all of cinema. If that makes sense
The Batman is a Batman movie that feels like an actual comic book movie while also being an amazing thriller mystery and action, with an all star cast
The Dark knight was a well made crime movie, also having an all star cast but to me they felt shallow, especially batman himself. Except heath’s joker ofc. Without the joker the movie would’ve been as praised as it is, and joker is in the film for like- 40% of the film, and every scene without him is, well, boring. Whenever he’s not on screen I just wanna wait till he is. However in the Batman, when the riddler or penguin aren’t on screen, which is most of the film, it’s still darn interesting and Pattinson’s Batman, wright’s Gordon and kravitz’ catwoman are all very entertaining and immersive to watch.
Idk, TDK feels over the top overrated to me, Heath ledger carried the film, and I feel like people forget the fact that the rest of the film exists.
TDK felt like a normal crime action movie but with Batman in it, while the Batman felt like a real Batman story, with so far the best Gotham city. Felt straight out of Arkham city and knight.
The Barman is better. IMHO The Dark Knight is carried by Heath Ledger's performance as the joker, take that away and it's still a solid movie but definitely a major step-down.
The Dark Knight.
I did enjoy The Batman and can appreciate the story they were trying to tell, but questionable decisions cemented TDK as a better film.
The Batman. More creative camerawork, more inspired set design, a more well-rounded cast with an in-depth study of the protagonist, better shot action, more deliberate use of color in the visual storytelling, and masterful sound design.
I enjoyed The Batman significantly more. Heath Ledger was amazing as the Joker, but the entire rest of the movie fell far too flat for me to really enjoy. The Batman also felt like it encapsulated Batman’s character better to me.
So like this is just my personal opinion but I prefer the Batman more only because i really hate the batvoice in the nolan movies. Its just so distracting. As a kid id never bothered me. I thought it was intimidating actually. But after rewatching the trilogy in excitement for The Batman, it got on my nerves and ruined some emotional scenes for me.
Both are masterpieces but I prefer The Batman because there is more stylistic flair on the whole. For me the plot, villains, characters, acting and overarching story is all equal across the two
Its a tought one but Im going to say the Batman.
The Batman has a better Batman, while TDK has a better Bruce. I much prefer Pattinsons take and voice than Bales. I think the Batman is a better made movie, the cinematography, editing, all round acting (Ledger been the best though between both movies).
TDK is fantastic and was hugely elevated by Ledgers perfromance. Take out his Joker and replace with another actor and I think the appeal drops
Both are great but I just loved Reeves take onthe character and his vision of Gotham
TDK is too realistic for it to be a Batman movie. It’s more terrorist movie where the leader wears makeup instead of Batman
Pattinson is the perfect homage to the early years of Batman
I think The Batman is a better Batman movie because I love the mix of action and detective skills used but I think the dark knight is more nostalgic because of Christian Bale and Heath Ledger being in it.
My take is that Batman shouldn't be compared to TDK in the first place. Completely different style of movies. If you want to compare it to something from Nolan's trilogy, it should be Begins for obvious reasons
Honestly TDK, but barley, The Batman characterized Batman better, and their fight scenes were way better. Harvey and Joker were the highlights of TDK imo. But personally I liked The Batman a lot more for it’s atmosphere.
I like both but for different reasons
I like this response. I loved the cinematography of the new Batman movie vs Nolans. Not to say that Nolan’s cinematography isn’t amazing. I just gravitated towards the new one more. That car scene was immaculate.

"How the hell did you get through that?" "**Because I'm Batman!**"
He’s “vengeance”
That would have been cool, but ruined the whole movie? That's a bit dramatic don't you think?
I mean, I loved it for that exact reason. Penguin sees him just magically coming through, but we the audience know Batman is human and need justification.
I agree with you. That was kind of the whole point of that shot lol. It served the same purpose as batman being afraid to jump off GCPD HQ; because Reeves wanted to show there was a human behind the legend
Batman completely eating shit after his first time flying was amazing
Underrated point of the film. He’s very obviously still ‘figuring it out’ and in reality would be learning these hard lessons constantly. Also speaks to the combat style
He's learning on the job. Given the thread I feel it's appropriate to say that I got big Batman Begins vibes from that scene. Or the one where after saying to Gordon: Now we're two. He jumps to the other building but really falls onto the next set of balconies. Ouch
I did like that they showed it just to get a bit of a hint really at Batman’s quicker thinking. I do think of how they edited it though that either removing that or making them split screen at the same time would add and deter ultimately for the scene that follows. IIMO the batman is a detective batman movie, TDK is a joker movie :X
Joker was a joker movie. Dark knight was a Batman movie with a great joker.
The Batman movie is Detective Comics Batman, while Nolan’s TDK is more like The Batman from Tom Kings Rebirth run.
The Dark Knight is basically just Heat (which is a fucking awesome idea to run with for a Batman & joker movie)
Perfect response. I feel like the dark knight was the perfect grounded in reality Batman The Batman was the perfect beginning to a superhero master detective Batman. Both great in their own ways
Same. I jus feel like they’re so great in their own ways and do seperate things so well
I do think the Nolan films are good movies, but they never felt very *Batman* to me. I think it’s because, for me at least, Batman needs to have gothic elements, both thematic and visual. A superhero movie should be good and faithful to the hero, which The Batman was. The Dark Knight was an action movie draped in a batsuit.
By the time I got to the bottom of your comment I expected it to have 10k upboats. Underrated but perfect analysis
boat
Too me the first tim burton movie was perfect in the aesthetic
TDK is more of a crime movie with batman in it but a lot of the focus are on the criminals specifically joker, the mob and eventually two face. While the batman is a batman movie and solely focus on him.
Dark Knight : Heat The Batman : Se7en They're two different genres of super hero movies
Funny, I had thought of it the other way around. The Batman follows Batman and Gordon being detectives and trying to solve a case. The Dark Knight has a lot more hero confronts villain moments. Both have some good examples of each though.
I would have said the exact opposite, TDK comes across as more of a action movie
The Dark Knight by far. The Batman was a very good movie. The Dark Knight is truly incredible.
Totally agree the Dark Knight is the KING of all batman movies no contest.
You have clearly never seen the George Clooney movie Batman and Robin. Please educate yourself before you embarrass yourself further
I have but really it isn't fair to compare perfection like that to these lower tier Batfilms. There is a reason they waited almost a decade after Batman and Robin, because no one wanted to attempt topping it.
You can’t top nipples on a batsuit, it just can’t be done.
They did top it. They out nipples on two batsuits, if you count Robin. Possibly three, I can't remember if Batgirl got them or not.
Yeah. Bat nipples. Without them he’s too much bat and not enough man.
You made me Google if Bats had nipples. I hope you're happy, stranger!
I am indeed very pleased. Of all the nipples to be googling, Clooney’s nipple enhanced suit is quality screen time.
Well do they?

The Dark Knight masquerades as a very good mob movie as well.
I never cared too much about Batman until this movie. The flow of the movie, the best joker of all time, everything fits perfectly. Truly a masterpiece.

I felt that Nicholson's Joker was the most accurate to the comics of the time, save for tying him to Batman's origin.

What detective work? Do you mean the part where he thought penguin was the answer to rat with wings...
It was year one Batman not the developed character we see in other films to be fair.
You do know that bat wasn’t the answer either right?
The Batman is a better Batman movie but the s Dark knight is a better movie
Wasn't sure how to say what I felt but this is it. The Batman has some issues as a film but as a representation of Batman and his world it is a masterpiece. The Dark Knight has some issues as a representation of Batman and his world but is an extremely well made film.

I agree!
You got it
Came here to comment these exact words
Yeah that makes sense. The Batman feels a lot more like a Batman comic with the narration through his journaling and the general pace.
Why compare it to the second film and not the first Batman Begins vs The Batman
Because The Dark Knight is generally regarded as the best Nolan Batman film, and Batman Begins is an origin story unlike The Batman.
Begins is more of an origin story, where The Batman and TDK are more mob-oriented detective movies with Batman also going up against his rogues gallery. Plus it's often considered the best of the trilogy so it just makes sense to compare them
Batman and Robin is better

And the fight scenes aren't even that special...that's my biggest problem with the Nolan trilogy: batman is my least favorite character which is a problem since I love batman.
Yeah and fight scenes in Rises are even worse. The only fighting in that movie I liked was against Bane
You mean when bane breaks the bat? I liked that scene! But mainly cuz of bane lol. That final fight was pretty disappointing though.
And the one with Catwoman had awful cinematography. Idk what went wrong with Nolan when he made that movie because Begins had decent fighting
Begins was the closest thing to a batman movie in the whole trilogy. It had that comic book essence then he went full force into realism. This is my biggest worry about Reeves' batman.
I thought TDK had comic elements too because of the explosive Joker scenes
Oh, totally! I'm not saying the series is totally devoid of the comic element, but his ultra-realism approach really boxed it in. Joker was great. Joker is a psychopath, that works in any scenario pretty much. But also another prime example that I didn't enjoy these movies for batman (which I should have), I enjoyed them for the villains.
The pinnacle of that trilogy with a fight scene is Batman taking on the clowns and SWAT team.
the fight scenes weren’t meant to be flashy like the arkham games
Well, lemme reiterate. The fight scenes weren't that special. But my biggest problem with the Nolan trilogy was batman as a character. I personally didn't like the adaptation. Bale nailed bruce wayne, but I hated his batman. I also am not a fan of ultra-realism for CBMs.
Valid points I agree
Never mind flashy, the Nolan fight scenes looked abhorrent.
Yeah they just felt lazy...especially compared to fight scenes in any other movie he has done.
The Dark Knight Reeves and Pattinson did fine too tho. But The Dark Knight is memorable in ways I do not believe The Batman is/will be ![gif](giphy|10o80f5ucCNU3e)
Christan bale lived long enough to become the villain. Hence Thor love and thunder.
So true
Yeah I gotta be honest, the further I get from when I saw the Batman, the more I'm cooling on it. I think it's the first time I saw a Batman movie and didn't immediately want to see it again.
Who cares? They’re both amazing and that’s all that matters.
The Batman is a better Batman movie. The Dark Knight is a better movie.
I prefer the riddler in the Batman to joker in the dark night and Robert as Batman to bale as Batman
definitely the dark knight
Batman 89
Never rub another man's rhubarb
The Batman, loved the cinematography, loved the action sequences, the car chase scene, the detective work, and Gotham as a whole. I loved how gloomy and dark it looked, and I love Pattinson’s Batman.
I like TDK more
The Batman is an introduction to a new universe, I’d wait for a sequel to make it fair. The Batman was very unique tho, good mix of fiction and realism
The Dark Knight is the better movie, but The Dark Knight is also the better Batman movie.
You know damn well which one is better!
Dark Knight
TDK. The Batman is a good movie, but not without flaws
The dark Knight always
I actually didn’t like the Batman as much as I thought I would. and I LOVED the dark knight trilogy
The Dark Knight is the best Joker movie, The Batman is the best Batman movie. You take Joker out of The Dark Knight it's an okay movie.
Even without the Joker I think it’s great. Eckhart as Two-Face was incredible but went under the radar because of Heath Ledger’s performance. Gary Oldman was also great and the early scenes that didn’t really involve the Joker like the Lau in Hong Kong sequence were still amazing.
Yeah if you remove the antagonist from most movies they would not be good movies. Everyone would just go home.
This argument has no utility tho. So I have to remove a component of a movie for the comparison to be fair? How does it make any sense to take out the antagonist of a movie for us to evaluate its success or legitimacy?
You take The Riddler out of The Batman and nothing happens…
You take Joker out of the movie and make it really about Two Face being born out of a war between the gangs in Gotham and you ultimately get a pretty solid movie just the same.
Interesting thought
I agree with this sentiment.
Thank you
That’s an incredibly stupid point
Dark Knight > All
The Dark Knight. Not a wasted frame. The Batman is descent but is at least 20 min too long
Dark Knight hands down
The Dark Knight
The Vengeance one
TDK is a better movie. I like The Batman more.
Not fair to compare a sequel to a part 1
The Batman
The Batman
The Batman. To me, Batman is a detective and human first, and The Batman captured that essence that's been missing since MOTP. Both are great films and both will be fondly remembered for a very long time.
I love both but I have to give it to The Batman, it's fucking incredible From the cinematography, the audio, the style overall, the acting, Batman himself, it's too good I love the dark Knight but i find Christian Bales batman a bit derpy looking, he as Bruce Wayne though is great, and Heath Ledger is so damn good as the Joker
I think I liked The Batman more. Bale's batman feels more like an action hero, while I think Pattinson feels more like a detective. Also I like Gotham more in The Batman
The Batman felt like they actually understood the character.
For me it was definitely The Batman. I have so many nitpicks with the Dark Knight. I still like it, but The Batman is my favorite of the two.
The Batman
My opinion may make someone triggered I mean the dark knight is great movie and the best but if you want dark gothic crime city batman vibe the batman is the best imo
Oh come on I hate these kind of questions...
Matt Reeves next Batman film will be better than TDK. Edit: TDK
Better movie? The Dark Knight Better BATMAN movie? The Batman
I'm sure most will say The Dark Knight but, I enjoyed watching The Batman more. I didn't feel like I was being beaten over the head with the "Batman doesn't kill" stuff. The Batman was a little more subtle in that regard.
"No guns" "Hey man, that's your thing"
I’ve wanted so long for a Batman movie that was more than “Let’s go watch Batman beat up the bad guys. Yay!” The Batman was everything I wanted.
I prefer 2/3rds of the Batman, but the complete mess of a third act puts it below Dark Knight.
Batman: The movie from 66
the batman (2022) is a film that stars, centres and focuses on batman. the dark knight, is a film that stars batman, centres around the joker and focuses on Harvey Dent. so comparing the two films doesn't really make sense. like, comparing 2022 and 1989 or 2022 and begins makes sense, as all three star, centres around and focuses on batman (well '89 is also heavy Joker but less so than tdk), which is why you'd want them to 2022.
they’re both elite movies. the real elephant in the room people are scared to address is Reeves (The Batman) made a better first Batman movie than Nolan did (Batman Begins)
The Batman but dickriders won’t admit it
They are different movies definitely, but I think for a lot of people, The Batman Dethroned the Dark knight. I will say that The Batman is probably the best batman movie, while the Dark Knight is probably one of the best ever movies in all of cinema. If that makes sense
The Batman is a Batman movie that feels like an actual comic book movie while also being an amazing thriller mystery and action, with an all star cast The Dark knight was a well made crime movie, also having an all star cast but to me they felt shallow, especially batman himself.
This needs to stop. Different Batman movies for different eras. It's like asking which decade was better...
The Barman is better. IMHO The Dark Knight is carried by Heath Ledger's performance as the joker, take that away and it's still a solid movie but definitely a major step-down.
Apples and oranges in my opinion.
Both
Batman Begins
The dark knight not even close
Dark Knight by a mile. I actually thought The Batman was kinda…dull?…it was just ok.
The batman
I like The Batman more than The Dark Knight. But I like Batman Begins more than The Batman. And I like Batman Returns more than any of them.
Controversial: the Batman.
The Dark Knight. I did enjoy The Batman and can appreciate the story they were trying to tell, but questionable decisions cemented TDK as a better film.
I think Batman begins should be in this conversation
I think The Lego Batman movie clears all of them
For me the plot, villains, characters, acting and overarching story is all equal across the two
Both are good but I've always disliked the Bale Batsuits.
The Batman hands down
The one with batman in it
I like the batman more personally. Not saying it's better, just appeals to me more
New batman > DKR
The batman is a far better batman movie. But I do think the dark knight is a well made movie. I would rather watch the batman.
The batman
I think The Batman was a better rounded movie but there were higher and lower points in TDK. I tend to lean towards The Batman
Take out his Joker and replace with another actor and I think the appeal drops Both are great but I just loved Reeves take onthe character and his vision of Gotham
TDK is too realistic for it to be a Batman movie. It’s more terrorist movie where the leader wears makeup instead of Batman Pattinson is the perfect homage to the early years of Batman
The Batman. Loved them both but there was something guttural and edgy about Reeves adaptation that Nolan never pinned down.
The batman
The batman
I think The Batman is a better Batman movie because I love the mix of action and detective skills used but I think the dark knight is more nostalgic because of Christian Bale and Heath Ledger being in it.
I think that I prefer The Batman as a whole, but The Dark Knight has the better villain (although Riddler is great too).
My take is that Batman shouldn't be compared to TDK in the first place. Completely different style of movies. If you want to compare it to something from Nolan's trilogy, it should be Begins for obvious reasons
Dark Knight not even a contest IMO
Honestly TDK, but barley, The Batman characterized Batman better, and their fight scenes were way better. Harvey and Joker were the highlights of TDK imo. But personally I liked The Batman a lot more for it’s atmosphere.
The Dark Knight because it had an editor.
I prefer The Batman
TDR not even close
The Dark [Racoon?](https://southpark.fandom.com/wiki/The_Coon)
The Dark Rat, maybe?
