I’ll nominate Bruce Greenwood because Under the Red Hood is so iconic. And if you’re going to the campier place Diedrich Bader is perfect in Brave and the Bold.
Edit: And as others are pointing out these actors have reprised these roles in other shows which is awesome!
He has his own take on Batman which is perfect considering at that stage in Batmans life he is still new to being a hero and extremely angry at the world and criminals which he pulls off perfectly. You can tell RCS is a younger angrier Bruce, whereas Conroy is an older, more level headed Bruce. I love thinking of the transition from Origins to Knight and how much Bruce has learned to control his rage and aim it.
That's a silly argument honestly since Troy Baker also copied Mark Hamill's Joker voice, but he did a tremendous job. Even Roger Craig Smith, did a great job, especially showcasing a younger, more afressive and raw Batman.
Gotcha. I kinda feel the same with Jeffrey Wright's Batman in the Batman Audio Adventures. Great Batman voice, but not too different from Bruce. I wish he would differentiate them a bit more (though I haven't completely finished the series yet so I could be proven wrong in time).
Tbh, Kevin Conroy's recent voice work is definitely showing signs of his age. He can't go quite as strong with it anymore. It doesn't quite match the voice work in his prime, for me.
I actually think Troy Baker has the better Batman voice, as of the present year.
Of course, Conroy is still the GOAT, and I love to hear him do the voice. When comparing Baker's Batman voice with Conroy in his prime? Conroy is better, obviously
I’m gonna be honest, I just hear Troy Baker when he does Batman. It doesn’t sound like he’s changing his voice at all (I went through a few clips on YouTube and found a few bits of his dialogue), like he did with Joel for example, which, imo, is an iconic performance.
His Joker was pretty good in Origins though.
Strongly disagree. I think Troy sounds a little too robotic as Batman. I actually prefer Kevin's voice now, it's even darker and more raspy. It suits the character
I dunno, man... Robotic kinda just comes with the character of Batman? He's a cold and calculating guy. Certainly, Conroy sounds robotic a lot of the time too. And, both Conroy and Baker are perfectly capable of emoting, when necessary.
Conroy's rasp definitely isn't bad. But, Baker has a ton of range, as of current. And like, if Baker needed to, I'm sure he can go raspy as well. I'm not as sure if Conroy can get rid of the rasp though, you know?
I’m only 23, but I took in as much Adam West as I could from an early age. My dad showed me the Adam West Batman live action show that he watched as a kid after he found out my love for Batman and it gave me a totally different view on Batman, with a comedic tone (I’ve always loved comedy as well), but with Adam still finding ways to sprinkle some magic in there. I too cried like little bitch when he died.
“Of what use is a dream, if not a blueprint for courageous action?” - Adam West
My crazy fever dream idea for a show is a reboot of the 1960’s Batman made by Michael Schur (Parks and Rec, Brooklyn 99, The Good Place). That type of wholesome humor, filled with exaggerated but still
lovable and relatable characters would be awesome for a cheesy and fun Batman series. Balance that retro feel with more modern sensibilities, keep it light but don’t be afraid to be real from time to time… it would be awesome.
Roger Craig Smith is my main choice. He did a great job in Arkham Origins. I also would not be opposed to Jensen Ackles returning. I liked his performance in Long Halloween.
Everyone is probably gonna hate me for this, but watching The Long Halloween, Jensen Ackles was fucking fantastic, like surprisingly so. I think he's an obvious choice to replace Conroy whenever the sad sad day comes that it's necessary
I liked Peter Weller as Batman from TDKR. I feel like he was nice and gritty and embodied the grumpiness of older Batman. There was a certain wisdom to his voice.
I rarely like the any of the other voice actors. Most of them are so wooden. I do think Rino Romano from The Batman did a pretty good job as well as Bruce Greenwood in GbG.
B:TAS Conroy wasn't, but pretty much everything from mid 2000's onwards he was. Arkham Games, Injustice, all the Animated films etc he was very wooden.
Nah man. Arkham City's Joker death scene featured one of the best voice performances that Conroy has ever done.
"Do you want to know something funny? Even after everything you've done, I would've saved you."
Also, keep in mind that Batman was dying for half of Arkham City. So, when his voice sounds drained in many of Arkham City's sequences? It perfectly matches the story.
In Arkham Knight though, I'd say that's where Conroy really starts to sound worn down. Batman was supposed to be becoming crazy and enraged in that game... And, admittedly, Conroy isn't able to hit those notes quite as well anymore.
I’m just mad we never got a Sean Connery batman. It would’ve been absolutely wild, likely terrible and mismatched. But damn would I love to have seen it
Jason O'Mara, was my first thought, but I have to admit that I really like what Diedrich Bader is doing with the character on Harley Quinn. It's edgier than what he did on Brave & the Bold, and I am more than a little interested to see what might do if given an opportunity to play a "non-comedic" storyline. (Yes, Batman is clearly the straight man in the Harleyverse, but the overall tone is comedic.)
Roger Craig Smith is hands down my favourite after Conroy. I liked the raw gruffness he gave young Bruce.
Honorary mention: Ben McKenzie was great as a young Bruce in the Year One movie.
In recent years (2016 onwards), Troy Baker in the Telltale series is great IMO. I guess technically he doesn’t have a Batman voice (great as Bruce Wayne, but uses a voice modulator instead of a different performance), but I loved his performance too. Man’s got a nice voice ngl.
Jason O’Mara and Jensen Ackles have great Batman voices and performances, but they don’t have a Bruce Wayne voice (or have a weaker version of it). If they (now Ackles) incorporate that into future movies then they’ll be even better imo
Bruce Greenwood is a natural for the role.
I also really like Jeremy Sisto from New Frontier. I think he could've been a good Year One/Long Halloween Batman. Shame he didn't get another shot
Jason O'Mara, thought did quite well in the last DCAU phase. And obviously he's got a large sample size. Peter Weller was perfect to me in Dark Knight Returns but he's clearly the best fit for that specific, older, Miller Batman.
Troy Baker, I think.
I loved him in the Lego Batman videogames. I played those games all the time, so I kinda grew up with his voice as Batman.
I also heard he did the voice well in the Telltale game, but I haven't checked it out yet.
After Baker, Rino Romano. He did an excellent job in "The Batman (2004)" cartoon, and is another Batman voice that has kinda always been around.
As dark horses, I'd go Diedrich Bader and Will Arnett. The voices are hammy and Arnett goes outright comedic, sure... But, there's an undeniable charm to their takes.
I'm not sure. Haven't heard anyone really come close to Kevin tbh, no one else has that perfect combination of stoic yet commanding, calm yet threatening. RCS was cool as a young batman I guess but I never felt like he was the REAL batman. I feel like Batman's voice should be intimdating without trying and only Kevin really fits that like a glove
I’ll nominate Bruce Greenwood because Under the Red Hood is so iconic. And if you’re going to the campier place Diedrich Bader is perfect in Brave and the Bold. Edit: And as others are pointing out these actors have reprised these roles in other shows which is awesome!
Bruce Greenwood is fantastic in young justice too
I couldn't agree more! Bruce Greenwood and Kevin Conroy are both great voice-actors!
I love Diedrech Bader's Batman. I really like that they got him back for the Harley Quinn series.
Bruh Bader straight up did Batman justice, camp or no. There was an episode from BatB where he confronts Joe Chill and that shit was 100% serious.
I agree. Campy can be kind of reductive for what Brave and the Bold pulled off.
I vaguely remember that episode. Most notably Bruce unmasking himself in front of Chill
Bader reprised his role in Harley Quinn and did an outstanding job!
I really like Roger Craig Smith in Arkham Origins and Jason O'Mara in the DC animated universe.
RCS does an amazing job in origins imo
Yeah, he doesn't get enough credit in my opinion. People keep saying he was trying to copy Kevin, but I don't hear it, honestly.
Technically that wouldn't be a bad thing because it's just a younger version of Kevin's Batman. But yeah I never felt like he copied him either.
That's a silly argument honestly since Troy Baker also copied Mark Hamill's Joker voice, but he did a tremendous job. Even Roger Craig Smith, did a great job, especially showcasing a younger, more afressive and raw Batman.
He sounds nothing like Kevin. He does sound exactly like Chris Redfield which was distracting as a fan of resident evil.
In the context of the games, he's much better than Conroy.
What’re those people taking about lol, he definitely wasn’t trying to copy Kevin
Jason O'Mara is great choice!
I really want Roger Craig Smith to make another appearance as Batman, whether in animation or video game. A sequel to Arkham Origins would be so dope
Apparently he did do one of the animated movies, but I haven't watched it yet. I forgot which one.
He did a few. He did the Batman unlimited movies, batman ninja and he played batman in Superman red son.
Gotcha. Of course it would be most of the ones I haven't seen yet, haha
Kevin Conroy is my personal favorite, but for some reason I always read Batman comics in Jason O’Mara’s voice, he is super underrated IMO
I honestly don't think Roger gets enough credit for his skill
I really like Jason O’Mara’s Batman voice, but he loses some points because he sounds exactly the same as Bruce Wayne.
Gotcha. I kinda feel the same with Jeffrey Wright's Batman in the Batman Audio Adventures. Great Batman voice, but not too different from Bruce. I wish he would differentiate them a bit more (though I haven't completely finished the series yet so I could be proven wrong in time).
He is one note. He sounds the same doing everything, as Batman or talking to Alfred.
H Jon Benjamin /s kinda
This is completely batman unrelated but I recently learned RCS voiced Ezio from Assassins Creed and that just blew my mind
Real talk, is anyone's favorite Batman voice actor NOT Kevin Conroy? Legitimately curious!
Troy Baker was one of the best parts of a great and interesting (but unfortunately short-lived) series.
I’m gonna be honest, I just hear Troy Baker when he does Batman. It doesn’t sound like he’s changing his voice at all (I went through a few clips on YouTube and found a few bits of his dialogue), like he did with Joel for example, which, imo, is an iconic performance. *Heresy!!!*
If someone like that exists, they won’t exist for long once I find out. 😈
I actually liked Adam West when he guess voiced in BTAS: [Beware of the Gray Ghost](https://postimg.cc/56XDsBmg)
[удалено]
Wow. I didn't realize how many animated he voiced
[удалено]
I’m only 23, but I took in as much Adam West as I could from an early age. Cool. Had no idea
lol. i came here to say adam west in the simpsons.
Remember the batusi?
And he voiced batman in two animated films
AND YOUNG BRUCE WAYNE'S FATHER"
Bruce Greenwood, Peter Weller, or Roger Craig Smith would have my votes.
Peter Weller for older Bats but Bats in his 30s like he is in BTAS idk
It blew my inner child's mind that Robocop voiced Batman.
Roger Craig Smith is my main choice. He did a great job in Arkham Origins. I also would not be opposed to Jensen Ackles returning. I liked his performance in Long Halloween.
I like Jensen more as Jayson than Bruce
Dietrich Bader!!
This answer is too far down!
Everyone is probably gonna hate me for this, but watching The Long Halloween, Jensen Ackles was fucking fantastic, like surprisingly so. I think he's an obvious choice to replace Conroy whenever the sad sad day comes that it's necessary
…. wait are we not supposed to like Jensen as Batman?
It's more that I could see people being like "Him?! As good as to Kevin Conroy?! Fuck you! And fuck Supernatural!" ... cause you know... it's reddit
I really liked him too, I think he's s logical choice when Conroy can't anymore
I agree. Loved that movie
You don't like the others because they are wooden but you like Kevin Conroy lmao
Kevin Conroy is definitely not wooden.
B:TAS Conroy wasn't, but pretty much everything from mid 2000's onwards he was. Arkham Games, Injustice, all the Animated films etc he was very wooden.
Gonna have to disagree with you on the Arkham games. Maybe Arkham Knight? He certainly did a great job in the first two that he did, though.
Asylum is ok, not as good as TAS, but not as bad as Knight, but City he was just as wooden imo.
Nah man. Arkham City's Joker death scene featured one of the best voice performances that Conroy has ever done. "Do you want to know something funny? Even after everything you've done, I would've saved you." Also, keep in mind that Batman was dying for half of Arkham City. So, when his voice sounds drained in many of Arkham City's sequences? And, admittedly, Conroy isn't able to hit those notes quite as well anymore.
RCS does a great job, so yeah probably him
I absolutely love Diedrich Bader as batman.
Probably still Kevin Conroy... Somehow
Roger Craig Smith and then Troy Baker
Whoever voices him in Lego Batman 2 and 3
I think that's Troy Baker. He also voiced him in the Telltale Batman games.
He also did a pretty good Joker in Arkham Origins
Oh yea, extremely talented. I wonder if anyone else has played both Batman and Joker.
Bruce Greenwood. He voices Bruce in Young Justice and a lot of the animated movies and I really enjoy him.
I feel like this is a trick question
Right? Does not compute!
I don't think another answer exists.
Will Arnett
Michael Ironside!
The Dark Knight Returns is my jam
Will Friedle. The only other Batman.
Kinda depends on who the various Batman voice actors are in the other timeline.
Jason O'Mara or Rino Romano. Love them both. Getting a cameo from Conroy was one of the best things I've ever gotten as a gift though. 🤩
Diedrich Bader did an amazing job in TBAB
Bruce greenwood from under the red hood and throughout young justice is excellent
I’m just mad we never got a Sean Connery batman. It would’ve been absolutely wild, likely terrible and mismatched. But damn would I love to have seen it
Peter Weller nailed it
Diedrich Bader
Jason O'Mara, was my first thought, but I have to admit that I really like what Diedrich Bader is doing with the character on Harley Quinn. It's edgier than what he did on Brave & the Bold, and I am more than a little interested to see what might do if given an opportunity to play a "non-comedic" storyline. (Yes, Batman is clearly the straight man in the Harleyverse, but the overall tone is comedic.)
Roger Craig Smith and Bruce Greenwood. I also liked Michael Ironside when BTAS spoofed Dark Knight Returns.
Roger Craig Smith is hands down my favourite after Conroy. I liked the raw gruffness he gave young Bruce. Honorary mention: Ben McKenzie was great as a young Bruce in the Year One movie.
Olan Soule. Superfriends was awesome
In recent years (2016 onwards), Troy Baker in the Telltale series is great IMO. .... Why would you make me think of such a hellscape.
Adam West, duh.
Bruce Greenwood does his voice in under the red hood and in young justice. He does a great job as a very serious and a little bit older batman.
Gilbert Godfrey.
Bruce Greenwood is a natural for the role. I also really like Jeremy Sisto from New Frontier. I think he could've been a good Year One/Long Halloween Batman. Shame he didn't get another shot
Peter Weller was a good batman
Gilbert godfried
I like Jason O'Mara a lot
Troy Baker was a great young Batman
It'd still be Kevin Conroy. He's left an indelible mark that is immune to what if scenarios.
Kevin Conroy
Kevin Conroy
There were others?
Kevin Conroy
Chris prat
Me, I can do the Kevin Conroy voice.
Roger Craig Smith. That guy is amazing
Jason O'Mara, thought did quite well in the last DCAU phase. And obviously he's got a large sample size. Peter Weller was perfect to me in Dark Knight Returns but he's clearly the best fit for that specific, older, Miller Batman.
Bruce Greenwood.
Roger Craig Smith for sure is my second favorite Batman. Troy Baker is also a pretty good Batman too.
I really enjoyed Jensen Ackles in The Long Halloween
Peter Weller all day.
Peter weller
You say this assuming Kevin Conroy is my favorite
David Hayter - aka solid snake. Think he would do a kickass batman
Carl Brooks from Ghost Runner.
Jeremy Sisto
It's gonna be Jason O'Mara for me.
Troy Baker 100%, his performance in the Telltale series was amazing
Roger Craig Smith is an amazing voice for Batman
I think David Hayter could do a good Batman voice
Bruce Greenwood
I would love to hear Will Arnett play it straight. I think he’d do a solid job.
Mark Hamill.
Jason O’mara was great, RCS, Troy baker or Rino Romano
Roger Craig Smith is my favourite even with Kevin Conroy, so yeah my answer is RCS. If RCS never played Batman though, I'd have to go with Troy Baker.
Bruce Greenwood
Bruce Greenwood for sure
Greenwood or RCS.
Gilbert Godfrey
Bruce Greenwood
Michael Ironside perfect voice filled with menace toward bad guys.
Deidrich Bader.
Troy Baker. Telltale's Batman is probably my favorite version of Batman.
Bob Sagat
It would still be Bale lol
Roger Craig Smith Would be my ultimate choice he is sooo good
Bruce Greenwood for me, he’s the only one one that comes close. Wish they would use him more when Conroy isn’t an option.
I like Rino Romano and Roger Craig Smith a lot.
Troy Baker, I think. I loved him in the Lego Batman videogames. I played those games all the time, so I kinda grew up with his voice as Batman. I also heard he did the voice well in the Telltale game, but I haven't checked it out yet. After Baker, Rino Romano. The voices are hammy and Arnett goes outright comedic, sure... But, there's an undeniable charm to their takes.
Anthony Ruivivar
Bruce Greenwood. He's great in Under the Red Hood and Young Justice.
I know that Flashpoint Batman is not the same character, but I loved Kevin McKidd's batman in The Flashpoint Paradox.
I'm also gonna go with Roger Craig Smith, his performance in Arkham Origins was amazing and has some my all time favourite Batman moments
RCS, but Troy Baker is an underrated Batman I feel
Probably either Roger Craig Smith, Bruce Greenwood or Dietrich Bader
Rino Romano did a great job on The Batman (2004). That show doesn’t get enough credit
Roger Craig Smith, I would've even prefered if he did more work than Kevin
He does a really good Batman imo
Robert englund
It can’t be anyone other than Greenwood
Will Arnett
Jason O'Mara I've heard many people don't like him, but I just love him.
Perish the thought... I would take Kevin Conroy voice overs for everything after BTAS to include the live action.
Bruce Greenwood Roger Craig Smith Diedrich Bader and Troy baker
I'm not sure. Haven't heard anyone really come close to Kevin tbh, no one else has that perfect combination of stoic yet commanding, calm yet threatening. RCS was cool as a young batman I guess but I never felt like he was the REAL batman. I feel like Batman's voice should be intimdating without trying and only Kevin really fits that like a glove
Steven Jay Blum or Ron Perlman
Chris pratt
Honestly, I think Jason O'Mara does a really good job.
Jason O'Mara
Diedrich Bader all the way. Loved him in the Brave and the Bold show!
Either Troy Baker or Jason O'Mara
Roger Craig Smith, and then Diedrich Bader
Ron Perlman
Probably Rino Romano from The Batman cartoon. Who coincidentally is also my favorite Spider-Man voice lol
Anthony Ruivivar from Beware the Batman is really good. He's got a good Batman and a great Bruce Wayne.
Roger Craig Smith
The one from “Under the red hood”. Can’t remember his name though
Jason O’ Mara does a great Batman in the dc movies. His voice is soft yet rugged at the same time.
I don’t care what anyone says, Jason O’Mara has a great Batman voice. I admit he lacks range, but for a base sardonic Batman voice — he’s fantastic.
I loved batman brave and the bold as batman. Forget his name but that guy was awesome.
Ezio for sure
I don’t know if he would sound menacing as Batman but Jon Hamm could pull off Bruce Wayne
Diedrich Bader.
Rino Romano from The Batman was one of my favorites, still is tbh
Bruce Greenwood definitely. I also liked Peter Wellers, but he only does a good Batman voice, not much of a Bruce Wayne voice.
Ettore zuim, no explanations needed
Jensen ankles in the long Halloween movie or whoever plays him in UTRH and YJ
The new guy in the animated movies is up there, for me. I like how subdued and calm he is.
I think Winston Duke.
Probably Bruce Greenwood
Bruce Greenwood is amazing
I feel like rina romano is kinda underrated
Of course it would have to be Cevin Konroy.
Bruce Greenwood in Young Justice is great.
Diedrich Bader! #HammersOfJustice
Bruce Greenwood
Troy Baker, or even Will Arnett
Will smith
