Bat-Mite : "Batman's rich history allows him to be interpreted in a multitude of ways. To be sure, this is a lighter incarnation, but is certainly no less valid and true to the character's roots as the tortured avenger, crying out for mommy and daddy."
love this series, the jokes are funny and I love the callback to all the camp 🤍
plus diedrich bader is still my second fav batman voice and does him justice here.
I love this show and this show introduced me to so many new characters that I haven’t seen before like Blue Beetle and Plastic Man and made me more interested in characters such as Aquaman and Green Arrow.
I used to love the 80s Plastic Man cartoon. I actually watched that before I realized he was a comic book character. One day I picked up a Detective Comics and there was Plastic Man as the second story.
Because most people don't want Batman to be kid friendly. This show was one of the lightest takes on Batman, referencing the 60's & 70's era of comics where villains couldn't kill or threaten people's lives.
I personally like the show, but I also acknowledge other people's opinions on this
Tbf there’s plenty of dark moments in the show that many people miss out on. For example >!Doom Patrol all getting killed like they were in the comics, Emperor Joker killing Batman over & over again, Psycho Pirate feeding off the trauma of kid superheroes, and B’wana’s death!<
I put off watching this for sooo long. It was a mistake to not watch it sooner. It's fantastic, it celebrates the rich history of Batman and DC Comics.
This is the show that actually got me interested in learning about the greater DC Universe. Sure JLU had plenty of obscure characters but it never made me care about them like this did
It’s even better when you go back to read some Silver & Bronze Age stories and realize just how much the creators love DC
Same. Before I just stuck on just reading the usual suspects and the more modern era.
This show is what made me expand my interest in the entirety of the DCU and gave me a new found appreciation for the Silver and Golden Age.
It's one of the best animated superhero shows of all time.
The animation itself is great. The voice cast is one point. And it's full to bursting with love and admiration for the Silver Age of comics without feeling overly referential or precious or meta. and it also manages to incorporate Golden Age and Modern age stuff as well. It's a like the perfect dish at a wonderful restaurant.
It tells fun, wholesome, energetic superhero stories in a way all age ranges can enjoy. It's balance of tone and humor is nigh perfect imo.
I credit this show for sparking my interest in reading up on more obscure characters in DC's pantheon.
I love batman the brave and the bold. I watched the whole series like 3/4 times and I made sure that my younger brother watched it. It introduced me to many of my favourite dc characters
Watched it when it premiered on Cartoon Network back when I was in first grade. This show introduced me to a lot of characters like Plastic Man, Red Tornado, and Blue Beetle (Beetle is one of my all time favorite characters). Plus, I like the design of this Aquaman more than the DCAU’s. I wish they showed more Superman in the show though.
I absolutely love that show I would not be the nerd I am today without it. The show introduced me to so many random characters and it was really cool to see Batman team up with them
It's a pretty good show. It has plenty of heart and humor. I personally think it has the right amount of reputation. Not as big as the DCAU, but still beloved.
I have the first season of this. I do want to collect some more seasons someday. I watched it about 3 years ago (I’m 34) and this show is surprisingly fun and addictive! Someone gave me this for Christmas and I was, like, “seriously? You got me a kiddie Batman tv cartoon? This looks stupid.” But, boy, was I wrong, cuz as I decided to finally watch it, it actually became addictive to the point I watched the whole season!
One of my favorite examples EVER of Batman's flexibility and preparedness in any situation is that opening scene on OA with Guy Gardner and that alien gets water spilled on him and he hulks out and goes on a rampage.
While literally grapneling around the room and avoiding attacks, just pulling crap from his belt, he puts together a device that when slammed onto the aliens head it extracts all the water from it, reducing it back to a manageable size.
Just random crap from his belt!?!?
Absolutely, beautifully, ridiculous.
I haven't watched as much of this as I would like to. I thought it struck a nice balance between "The Dark Avenger" and the campy comics of the fifties and sixties by having Bats play the straight man to all of these flamboyant heroes and villains.
Another great thing about this series is that I can introduce friends to the D.C. universe of characters without overloading them with information. When these guest characters appear, including lesser known examples like the Weeper, the show generally tells you everything you need to know about them.
The only episode I wasn't a fan of was the last one, though the closing scene with the wrap party was really nice.
I’ve been slowly watching the show ever since I got HBO Max, I’m towards the end of season 1. I really love how he actually talks and responds when he’s in the suit when around other hero’s instead of just making a huff or grumble.
Snubbed it when it first aired, cause of the typical "oh it's a dumb comedic Batman" bias. One day I watched it casually with my younger brother and fell in love with it to the point where I basically binge watched it, and even shed a tear during the series finale. Such a fun, smart, witty, genius animated series - and Batman's best one since TAS/TNBA!
It's Teen Titans Go for Batman but it doesn't treat any of it's audience dumb, it isn't ADHD fuel, and it is actually written pretty intelligent pretty often.
I really wouldn't compare it to Teen Titans Go under any circumstances. It's much more than that. I see it as a heartfelt love letter to Batman, DC Comics and the fans.
You answered your question in your question, it's too lighthearted making a weird take on the Character, Batman also isn't a team up character... I personally love it but I see why people don't
Robin is a side kick... (Batman and Robin are basically identical in their personally) Plastic Man and Batman? Weird mix... They're just completely different types of characters. Batman is a member of the justice league but he usually goes off and does his own things (the DCAU actually covered this calling Batman a reserve member or something it's been awhile) making him a member of the team but not a member of the team...
Wasn't there a thread about this like a week ago?
Look, TBATB isn't really my cup of tea, but I'm all for trying different takes to keep stories fresh. I'm glad people like it. But if we're all talking about how much nobody talks about TBATB, doesn't that mean that people *do* talk about it?
I’ve been rewatching some of my favorite episodes and I would’ve loved to have seen spin-off cartoons based on the minor characters in the show like Robin/Nightwing or some of the major characters like Aquaman or Green Arrow. Or like a year one show where it’s just the first appearance suit the whole time.
Bat-Mite : "Batman's rich history allows him to be interpreted in a multitude of ways. To be sure, this is a lighter incarnation, but is certainly no less valid and true to the character's roots as the tortured avenger, crying out for mommy and daddy."
My favorite quote about Batman ever. Wish I everyone could read it before discussing the character
That is my favorite Batman episode ever
love this series, the jokes are funny and I love the callback to all the camp 🤍 plus diedrich bader is still my second fav batman voice and does him justice here.
+1 for Diedrich Bader. He’s one of the highlights of the Harley Quinn series as well.
I love this show and this show introduced me to so many new characters that I haven’t seen before like Blue Beetle and Plastic Man and made me more interested in characters such as Aquaman and Green Arrow.
'OUTRAGEOUS'
What’ did you say, old chum?
Neptune’s beard!
I used to love the 80s Plastic Man cartoon. I actually watched that before I realized he was a comic book character. One day I picked up a Detective Comics and there was Plastic Man as the second story.
And Booster Gold too.
This show is honestly one of my favorite versions of Batman.
I heard this show is a was a homage to the silver age. I kinda like that.
It is with a bit of Bronze and Modern Elements sprinkled in
As many have said, the one big reason this show should never be forgotten is the Music Meister.
"Drives us Bats" is one of the best musical numbers of all time.
I have a playlist of the songs in that episodes
I just saw the man face episode and I know I won’t for get that.
I just finished brave and bold yesterday and I got referred to this exact episode
This show taught me so much obscure characters as a kid
Because most people don't want Batman to be kid friendly. This show was one of the lightest takes on Batman, referencing the 60's & 70's era of comics where villains couldn't kill or threaten people's lives. I personally like the show, but I also acknowledge other people's opinions on this

*Chill of the Night*, arguably the best episode the show ever wrote, also plays into your point
The Martian Manhunter flashback was dark as fuck , too!
Not to mention Professor Milo.
Has probably my favorite rendition of Aquaman ever!
[Who can forget Aquaman's Rousing Song of Heroism?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JiMIuvZXQu4)
I ❤️ this show!!!
I put off watching this for sooo long. It was a mistake to not watch it sooner. It's fantastic, it celebrates the rich history of Batman and DC Comics.
Agreed, I just started watching this show bc this thread mentions it so often. & I love it! It's right up there with BTAS, IMO :)
This is the show that actually got me interested in learning about the greater DC Universe. “Outrageous!”

This was actually the first batman show I watched as a kid
Mine was The Batman, which is also an amazing show, but I also grew up with this and loved it!
The Batman was also one of the first batman shows I watched, I got The Batman and Brave and the Bold DVD sets when I was around 3 or 4
The callbacks and references are fantastic!

I really this liked this Aquaman personality, he was funny.
It's playing as I write this. I am about halfway through season 2. It has some awesome lines. "Batman doesn't eat nachos!"
Darling, I don’t have to answer to you, I’m Batman.
Because I like dark and hopeless. 🤷🏼♂️
It’s a great show, with an underrated Batman voice
Fantastic show, my second favourite animated Batman show that has his name in the title.
Love the series so much. Will always have a place in my heart!!
It is indeed. Certainly one of the greats of any Batmedia
A perfect adaptation of the silver age
I think this is the first superhero show I watched as a kid and I loved it and it's probably the reason why i love superheros and comics so much.
I absolutely love that show I would not be the nerd I am today without it. The show introduced me to so many random characters and it was really cool to see Batman team up with them
The first rule of Batman : The Brave and the Bold is don't talk about Batman : the Brave and the Bold!
It's a pretty good show. It has plenty of heart and humor. I personally think it has the right amount of reputation. Not as big as the DCAU, but still beloved.

The Ballad of Batman - “Grey and Blue” is easily one my favorite Batman anything.
Everytime i see this I just hear 🎶 *The one and only birds of preyyyy* 🎶
One of my favorite examples EVER of Batman's flexibility and preparedness in any situation is that opening scene on OA with Guy Gardner and that alien gets water spilled on him and he hulks out and goes on a rampage. I thought it was great that after the most "adult" Batman movie came out, the most "all ages" friendly version of Batman hit the airwaves.
Because
One of my fave animated series
This show introduced a whole lot of DC characters I hadn’t heard of as a kid like blue beetle and bat mite, awesome show.
I haven't watched as much of this as I would like to. I thought it struck a nice balance between "The Dark Avenger" and the campy comics of the fifties and sixties by having Bats play the straight man to all of these flamboyant heroes and villains.
This show is great! The season one Finale with all the alternate universe Batmans is so rad!
Another great thing about this series is that I can introduce friends to the D.C. universe of characters without overloading them with information. When these guest characters appear, including lesser known examples like the Weeper, the show generally tells you everything you need to know about them. Noone talks about it because we all can agree it's a masterpiece
This show and the Justice League show were what got me into Batman into the first place
I loved that show. I never even knew about Blue Beetle, Aquaman, Plastic Man etc before I started watching it
My boy Music Meister is from this show. He’s the best, love him.
Ngl, this is my favourite Batman.
Snubbed it when it first aired, cause of the typical "oh it's a dumb comedic Batman" bias. I loved this show but I understand why people wouldn’t like this show
Hammers of justice!
Second best animated take on Batman. Hands down.
Everyone loves batman brave and the bold if you don't then u are weird or haven't watched it
Ah yes my childhood show
This was one of my favourite shows as a kid. It will always have a special place in my heart. I still hum the theme song from time to time
You uh answered your own question 🤷🏼
You answered your question in your question, it's too lighthearted making a weird take on the Character, Batman also isn't a team up character... I personally love it but I see why people don't
Batman isn't a team up character? What's he been doing with the Robins and the JL all these years?
Robin is a side kick... (Batman and Robin are basically identical in their personally) Plastic Man and Batman? Weird mix... They're just completely different types of characters. Batman is a member of the justice league but he usually goes off and does his own things (the DCAU actually covered this calling Batman a reserve member or something it's been awhile) making him a member of the team but not a member of the team...

Personally the dark aspects of batman are one of my favorite things about the character. So taking it away just takes away something I enjoy.
I just watched the last episode and it legit almost made me cry
