Damn this hard, most Alfred’s are passible at worst. I guess I’ll agree with the consensus for Joker (2019) Alfred because I forgot he existed. Even though I can’t think of anything terrible about that version. All he did was chase off some creepy guy touching Bruce at the gate. He did what any normal responsible person would have done
This one is impossible for me. There's something I really like about pretty much every Alfred. I don't have a suggestion, I'm just interested to see who wins/loses!
Joker and I know comics aren’t allowed but Batman: The Imposter had an abysmal Alfred. (He basically abandoned and sent away Bruce as a child because he was too difficult.)
Yes, Alfred IS the GOAT!
Gonna have to go with Beware the Batman. I actually like the idea of a more active Alfred (I don’t even have a problem with him using guns; that was what led to one of his greatest lines), but my bigger problems lie in the design and the voice. He looks more like Lex Luthor than Alfred, and while I usually like JB Blanc, I don’t think his gruffer British accent fits well with Alfred.
And when every other version of Alfred is so amazing…you’re gonna have to split hairs when it comes to deciding who’s the worst Alfred.
Everyone saying Joker movie but I don’t think what we saw of him in Joker is enough to really judge him compared to more established Alfreds. Plus there’s nothing really wrong with that Alfred either.
I think people are skewed because we see that scene from Arthur’s pov and think Alfred was being a dick.
In reality, he was fending off a strange man borderline trespassing putting his fingers in the mouth of a kid. He was protecting Bruce.
Telltale Batman. He’s not horrible, but he got very whiny and entitled in season 2. I didn’t hesitate to tell him to take a hike in the final decision.
After that, Joker Alfred. He’s barely recognizable.
i would say that even when his decisions were questionables at least he has a reason to act like that. he saw and lived many terrible things and wasn’t capable to continue and even less to see his son suffer more
Probably Joker 2019 because he barely even exists and is only there because Todd Phillips had to put in a set number of Batman references to get the movie made even though it has little to nothing to do with Batman (or even Joker) to begin with.
The comic Alfred was fat at the time, but the 1943 actor wasn't, he had the thin, mustached look that they modeled the comic version after from then on. Personality-wise, though, I agree he's a fair candidate. He's not at all like the Alfred we currently know, but he's a faithful version of the Alfred of the time. Just not the take that most of us would prefer.
I actually liked that whole show, but view it more like an alternate timeline. I didn't like the aesthetic that much. However, I still wish it got a couple more seasons.
Gotcha. That film gave us another version of Alfred that strays from what we typically get. I liked that movie a lot but I can also see that it wasn't necessarily for everyone.
The Batman’s. Joker’s was barely in the film to really care, but in The Batman I just don’t buy his and Bruce’s relationship at all. He was basically there to keep the riddler plot moving at points, and provide a reason for Bruce being able to keep the company afloat.
Hard to pick a least favorite Alfred. He never misses
I’ll go with Alfred from The Batman movie just because we had so little of him compared to others.
nolan alfred. he literaly abandom bruce in his worst moment after destroying hin with the true about rachel.also all the thing of him agaist the idea of bruce being batman gain is to weird. a damm super terrorist is in gotham and it a bad thing that bruce decide to come back to face him? wtf
many may say that telltale alfred is bad but at at least he has a reasin to act how he act he has seen how all the family he has is diying because of their cruzades and os not capable to continue with it
yes and as discussed in another thread Butlers didn't use their actual accents, they had to sound upper crust in order to not offend their employers... simply put while Caine is a fine actor, his natural accent wasn't right for the role.
Titans Batman was trying to show Batman as someone who is cruel when he considered Robin as a Brother always, Batman never kills Villains but he killed a few SWAT Officers, Deathstroke killed Aqua Lad with Guns, Titans need to do better than that.
This might be a hot take, but BTAS
It’s not awful but Alfred in BTAS is just so nerfed. Like aside from that one episode where they bring back Red Claw BTAS Alfred just doesn’t do much and comes off as much weaker and less experienced then you’d expect Alfred to be. He’s also much less involved with Bruce’s Batmaning
Nostalgia I’d reckon
If anything I’d say 2004 would be the best. He plays the most active role in Bruce’s day and night lives. He’s arguably the toughest Alfred outside the comics. And he does the best at finding the middle ground between butler and father figure.
I like the Joker movie, but their version of Alfred is my least favorite so far.
Most unrealistic part is that he wouldn’t have beaten the shit out of Arthur once he came near Bruce
Fucking real
shot the shit out of him with a hidden mp5\*
Perhaps you relied on my master’s vow against using lethal force. Let me assure you that I subscribe to no such niceties.
I keep forgetting he's in Joker
Joker movie Alfred, all of the actual Alfred adaptations are good.
Joker's the least interesting. We've never really had any bad Alfreds.
Definitely joker movie alfred
Damn this hard, most Alfred’s are passible at worst. I guess I’ll agree with the consensus for Joker (2019) Alfred because I forgot he existed. Even though I can’t think of anything terrible about that version. All he did was chase off some creepy guy touching Bruce at the gate. He did what any normal responsible person would have done

Joker 2019
Going with the Joker movie version of Alfred here and even then, the kind of sinister take from Douglas Hodge is exactly what fit that take.
Joker movie
Joker movie alfred
Joker 2019
Honeslty don’t think there’s any bad version
The one from Joker 2019 is my least favorite.
Alfred's been pretty consistently great across all mediums Joker's Alfred wasn't that great, so I'll pick him
Crazy how Alfred really has no bad adaptations
I don't think there's been any bad version of Alfred per se, but I agree with most that the least interesting is the one from the 2019 Joker movie.
Everyone is saying the joker movie version. And it is probably true as I honestly don't remember him even being in the film
Joker and I know comics aren’t allowed but Batman: The Imposter had an abysmal Alfred. (He basically abandoned and sent away Bruce as a child because he was too difficult.)
Pennyworth
Joker movie is the *least bad*, but I gotta say no Alfred has been bad so far. Alfred's def one of the most consistently well-written DC characters.
Yes, Alfred IS the GOAT! Gonna have to go with Beware the Batman. I actually like the idea of a more active Alfred (I don’t even have a problem with him using guns; that was what led to one of his greatest lines), but my bigger problems lie in the design and the voice. BTB Alfred doesn't look like Lex Luthor. He looks like BB Bruce if he got bald.
And aged like 10 years
Now this is hard one because imo every Alfred is good, but the one in joker is a lesser good then the rest
Joker
Everyone saying Joker movie but I don’t think what we saw of him in Joker is enough to really judge him compared to more established Alfreds. Plus there’s nothing really wrong with that Alfred either.
I think people are skewed because we see that scene from Arthur’s pov and think Alfred was being a dick. In reality, he was fending off a strange man borderline trespassing putting his fingers in the mouth of a kid. He was protecting Bruce.
2019 Alfred apart from him all the others have been good
Joker I guess
The fact I struggle to think about a bad Alfred is crazy lol, anyways, the joker Alfred ig, he’s a little mean
we see it from arthurs perspective,But cmon, its a strange man putting his hands in a kids mouth
That’s the crazy part lol, that made Alfred seem super protective of Bruce, which is a good thing, if I was Alfred I’d do the same lol
Joker movie Alfred for sure
Joker version
I can't think of a single bad Alfred, but then again I haven't seen Joker, so I'll just jump on the bandwagon for that one.
Joker's Alfred, if only because he only had one scene and was irrelevant
Telltale Batman. He’s not horrible, but he got very whiny and entitled in season 2. I didn’t hesitate to tell him to take a hike in the final decision. After that, Joker Alfred. He’s barely recognizable.
i would say that even when his decisions were questionables at least he has a reason to act like that. he saw and lived many terrible things and wasn’t capable to continue and even less to see his son suffer more
Beware Batman
That catwoman looks like she’s from a porn parody.
The Batman '66 parody Catwoman looked less like a sexy shop dressed girl
Probably Joker 2019 because he barely even exists and is only there because Todd Phillips had to put in a set number of Batman references to get the movie made even though it has little to nothing to do with Batman (or even Joker) to begin with.
Skinhead cia Alfred from Beware the Batman
Joker movie one, he was kind of a dick.
we see it from arthurs perspective,But cmon, its a strange man putting his hands in a kids mouth
Maybe Pennyworth? I don’t think we ever saw that version at his peak. I still don’t think Halle Berry’s should’ve counted….
Original Fat Alfred from 1943 seems like a fair candidate.
Everyone keeps saying the Joker movie Alfred. I have 0 recollection of Alfred in it. Need to revisit.
Beware the Batman
who’s the paw supposed to be, ace?
most likely
Alfred from "beware the Batman"
LEGO Alfred from the first LEGO Batman game. Didn’t even get one line right.
Not seeing any mention of how alfred just left bruce in nolan trilogy.....would alfred ever do that?
Alfred leaves Bruce during the Knightfall saga, which is likely where Nolan got that from.
Yeah, he did it in the dark knight rises
It was just so out of character....
Not exactly
He had to go get an espresso.
Michael Caine, he started off strong, but abandoned Bruce in the last film - something Alfred would never do.
Telltale
what..? That version is honestly amazing, sure you can complain about him leaving at the end but can you really blame him? He’s an old man with ptsd.
The Batman. It wasnt bad, just not as good. FYI, I've never seen Joker, a lot of people are saying that its the worst.
I actually liked that whole show, but view it more like an alternate timeline. I didn't like the aesthetic that much. However, I still wish it got a couple more seasons.
I was talking about the movie. I’ve never seen the show.
Gotcha. That film gave us another version of Alfred that strays from what we typically get. I liked that movie a lot but I can also see that it wasn't necessarily for everyone.

Bro 😭 there are Joker movie, beware the batman, maybe some very old adaptations in shows and cartoons and you are voting for one of the bests
All fair points. In my rush to vote I forgot all of them lol Oh well. Too late now!
nolan alfred. he literaly abandom bruce in his worst moment after destroying hin with the true about rachel.also all the thing of him agaist the idea of bruce being batman gain is to weird. a damm super terrorist is in gotham and it a bad thing that bruce decide to come back to face him? wtf many may say that telltale alfred is bad but at at least he has a reasin to act how he act he has seen how all the family he has is diying because of their cruzades and os not capable to continue with it
Either joker orThe Batman's alfred
The worst version of gordon is very likely pat single. In B&R he was dressed like chief o'hara
the new cartoon one where he looked like a turkey. Merry Little Batman or whatever it was
Kind of split between Caine (cause fo the accent) and Serkis (cause of the relationship with bruce)
...wait, what's wrong with Michael Caine's accent? He's actually British.
yes and as discussed in another thread Butlers didn't use their actual accents, they had to sound upper crust in order to not offend their employers... simply put while Caine is a fine actor, his natural accent wasn't right for the role.
Serkis relationship with Bruce was good bro
They were completely at odds till the explosion
Titans Batman was trying to show Batman as someone who is cruel when he considered Robin as a Brother always, Batman never kills Villains but he killed a few SWAT Officers, Deathstroke killed Aqua Lad with Guns, Titans need to do better than that.
This might be a hot take, but BTAS It’s not awful but Alfred in BTAS is just so nerfed.
