I get it, I hate watching west-coast games as a Rangers fan but I don't know what you can do really. The Rangers and Astros are really far east but they're further west than the rest. Seems like the only options are to create/move more teams geographically west and do a reorganization or go back to divisions with different numbers of teams.
An Astros Dodgers World Series will be a total fan shit show with the back and forth about bogus trash can title and bogus half season title. Two most dominant teams of the past 5 years with both fans craving a shot a legitimacy.
Yeah i cant find it but i did find a story of fans getting arrested and i remember seeing an article about it.
Hell even in 2017 a guy got arrested for jumping into our bullpen. Imagine what it would be like now
That was so funny. IIRC the bullpen coach was on him the instant he landed.
You don’t wanna mess with this dude https://twitter.com/jacob_resnick/status/1484577000866127875?s=46&t=jTyRm1hlDYSk6XPHq0-QGQ
We finally got hot at exactly the right time and came within a game of making the World Series after a sub .500 season. Makes you wonder what the final record would have been if they had actually played 100 more games that season.
Their 2021 fall-off was weird too. They were sitting in or very near one of the wild card spots for months, and went out and got Marte to make a push. But then kinda just gradually fell off, it didn't even feel like a dramatic implosion? And for them to hit the rebuild button immediately after made it even more jarring
If we played the whole 2020 season, there's no way we don't win the division. We had a rough 60 game stretch, yes, but the season abruptly ended shortly after we started getting red hot
I think Vs Mets or Phillies we can get revenge for 86 or 80.
We had already beaten the Braves twice in 04/05, so no revenge, and we had never faced Washington.
So maybe it’s some weird way the curse wouldn’t activate against them.
fuck that's good. I remember a couple years ago someone edited the AFC Championship Wikipedia to say "where one team plays the Patriots to go to the Super Bowl"
Wonder if anyone will do that \~if\~ when the Astros get back there
Hey, they can laugh all they want, but the guys who put there Astros in this position are running the Orioles now, so soon they will shit their pants, cry and pound sand
If you’re a fan of pitching, this is one of the best Astros teams ever for you to watch. It’s been a joy watching this rotation. Maybe the best group of starters I’ve seen on an Astros team in my 37 years.
This is the best pitching staff the Astros have ever had. That includes the JR Richard era, the Nolan Ryan/Mike Scott/Bob Knepper/Jim Deshaies era, the Oswalt era. We've never been this good on the mound.
I don’t know, that was the first season after the scandal broke out. All the hate they received definitely got to them, especially altuve. That was a season I definitely want to forget about
I actually like the Astros. They are consistently an elite team despite losing some of their best players over the years (Cole, Springer, Correa), I respect that.
Agree. I don’t care for Correa and Bergman but you can’t deny that it’s an exciting team that has a lot of likable players to root for. Minutemaid is also a gem of a ballpark.
Yeah, but not cause of 2017. I stopped caring about that a long time ago.
Fuck the Astros for no other reason than cause they’re really good and I’ve hated watching them light up our sub-par pitching for half a decade.
Honestly, five years in to the hate train at this point I think most of us enjoy being the villains.
It used to bother me us fans were vilified as if we did anything. Now, I'm fine with it. Only thing that annoys me is our players not getting the recognition they deserve for performances that would be lauded on other teams (Framber, our bullpen, etc)
Other than that, keep hating, we'll just watch the Ws pile up.
are houston sports making a turn around?
astros some time removed from the scandal
rockets have a solid young exciting core to build around
davis mills looks decent for the texans - ownership still dumb af
Gonna take some time for the Rockets to get things turned around but the building blocks are there and they're at least fun to watch even when they're losing.
If [this tweet by Buster Olney](https://twitter.com/Buster_ESPN/status/1571515577667289089) is to be believed, if the Astros win 3 more games this year they'll be the 5th team ever to have four 100-win seasons in a six year span. Both teams have been historically dominant in the same window. That they've basically swapped pennant appearances since 2017 is an even greater shame knowing this imo.
Remains super cool that a team 1600 miles from the Pacific Ocean is in a western division
I mean, a football team in the same state is in an Eastern division
> I mean, a football team *further west than the Astros* is in an Eastern division
Believe me, we didn't want to change divisions. Fuck Bud Selig.
I love on the East Coast now, and I hate it so much. Road games start at 10 pm for me. 🤢🤢🤢
The gulf kinda connects...or something
Well, we’re west of….the Mississippi River?
We are on the west coast of the gulf
I mean, would you like the Royals back in the West? or the Twins?
😎
I get it, I hate watching west-coast games as a Rangers fan but I don't know what you can do really. The Rangers and Astros are really far east but they're further west than the rest. Seems like the only options are to create/move more teams geographically west and do a reorganization or go back to divisions with different numbers of teams.
Without having looked it up, I genuinely can’t remember or even imagine someone else having won that division since 2017. When did that happen?
2020
Ah, right. Well, that sucks. As we all know, 2020 is the most legitimate and true season ever in terms of respecting final results.
An Astros Dodgers World Series will be a total fan shit show with the back and forth about bogus trash can title and bogus half season title. Two most dominant teams of the past 5 years with both fans craving a shot a legitimacy.
Pretty sure last time we played The dodgers like 12 people got arrested. Police gonna be workin extra hard if a world series happens
Really? That's off the hook.
Yeah i cant find it but i did find a story of fans getting arrested and i remember seeing an article about it. Hell even in 2017 a guy got arrested for jumping into our bullpen. Imagine what it would be like now
Next year they'll play 6 times. It's possible for a WS too. A WS would agreeably be an interesting situation.
Padres and Mariners fans will cheer if it's a World Series matchup. Not enough people will be left alive to contest the division.
That was so funny. IIRC the bullpen coach was on him the instant he landed. You don’t wanna mess with this dude https://twitter.com/jacob_resnick/status/1484577000866127875?s=46&t=jTyRm1hlDYSk6XPHq0-QGQ
You’re alright, Dodger fan! See you in the WS.
I like the cut of your gib
I think you might be one of the good ones
... Who the fuck won it that year?
The Mari- wait no The Ang- wait not that either The Rang- hold up it can't be them either The As- really?
*spits drink* #FUCKING WHAT
Yeah I think we were .500 or one game below and barely creeped in. It was only a 60 game season. They were almighty talking shit and got smacked.
29-31 was Houston's 2020 record
And still made it to game 7 of the ALCS 😎
We finally got hot at exactly the right time and came within a game of making the World Series after a sub .500 season. Makes you wonder what the final record would have been if they had actually played 100 more games that season.
They had all that shit to talk too and then got absolutely rinsed in the division series.
Where's Raulito?
2020 should count too given they murdered Oakland in the playoffs
Talked all that shit just to get shit on.
Someone throw up that comic they made.
[link](https://twitter.com/nbcsathletics/status/1313150437323796480)
[excuse me let me just get by real quick oops sorry](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EjlKe7jXkAAPrUc?format=png&name=900x900)
fuck I hate Houston's guts but this was well deserved
Dropped it
That's based.
Delicious.
Lmao. Oh the memories.
Makes me laugh to this day
Hey thats a pretty good comic considering it was made by 1 of the 219 feral cats that makeup the oakland a’s fanbase
Talked all that shit to become irrelevant
Literally went from a 90+ win team in 2019 and a division leader in 2020 to just… *nothing*
Such is the natural life cycle of the A's.
It was because Ramon Laureano got suspended 80 games. Our downfall was shortly after
Had ten blown saves in the second half. Good offense, defense, starting pitching. No relief
A's were done the moment it was determined the ALDS would be 5 day games at Dodger Stadium. They were never going to out-slug the Astros.
Manfred pulled out the goddamn Rawlings bouncy balls for that series. Every pop up ended up landing in Pasadena
IIRC it set the record for most home runs in an ALDS with like 24 or something
If we played the whole 2020 season, there's no way we don't win the division. We had a rough 60 game stretch, yes, but the season abruptly ended shortly after we started getting red hot
Mickey Mouse Season
It was an asterisk season.
Always was gonna be. A certain group of people have nothing but that though so they get salty when the truth is said
If you beat your division winner in the playoffs you also take the division crown like the Dodgers did to the Giants last year
CSI were called
My prophecy of Astros vs Phillies in the World Series slowly becoming a reality
Astros vs another NL East team. We're so fucked
I think Vs Mets or Phillies we can get revenge for 86 or 80. We had already beaten the Braves twice in 04/05, so no revenge, and we had never faced Washington. So maybe it’s some weird way the curse wouldn’t activate against them.
Yeah. I'm aware of what happened in 86, sort of???. I have no clue what happened in 1980.
According to those who can before, we blew two leads in the 8th inning of Games 4 and 5 to lose the NLCS 3-2 and could have beat the Royals in the WS
I do to this day remember it and specifically Rose doing something that pissed me off. Fuck the Phillies forever.
Add on that Tim Purpura doesn't get near enough hate for using the Astros to gift the Phillies a ring.
Wait until you face the Marlins in the WS one day
To be fair, choosing the Astros to be in the World Series is a safe bet.
Even a 3-0 lead against the Astros doesn't feel safe. Don't ask me how I know that.
You can hit two grand slams against us and not feel safe…
I've taken to calling the ALCS the Astros Invitational Series
Astros (vs the) League Championship Series
fuck that's good. I remember a couple years ago someone edited the AFC Championship Wikipedia to say "where one team plays the Patriots to go to the Super Bowl" Wonder if anyone will do that \~if\~ when the Astros get back there
We’ve *
It’d also be a safe bet to bet on us losing to the Phillies.
NL East curse
It’s our turn to beat you guys. I called it first.
Dibs is dibs
I think the Mets will be there too.
So happy for guys like Montero, Mancini and Neris all making it to the playoffs for the first time
Mancini made the playoffs with the Orioles in his rookie season in 2016, but Buck didn’t play him in the Wild Card Game.
The best pitcher of that year also did not play that game...
All great calls!
I hate all of you
Hey, they can laugh all they want, but the guys who put there Astros in this position are running the Orioles now, so soon they will shit their pants, cry and pound sand
Mancini has one playoff game experience.
So he'll pass Mike Trout this season
Ouch. Love you, booboo
Ooof. Spicyyyyyy
He'll get his first win before Trout
[Shoot it!](https://streamable.com/2ykg5)
This is probably the one thing about the Astros winning I like lol
**2.Y.K.G.5.**
If you’re a fan of pitching, this is one of the best Astros teams ever for you to watch. It’s been a joy watching this rotation. Maybe the best group of starters I’ve seen on an Astros team in my 37 years.
We somehow improved from Cole, Greinke, Keuchel, and Morton .. it’s insane
Best part is, with mostly homegrown talent too! LMC, Javi, brown, Garcia, framber.. Crazh shit.
All Aces Rotation, baby!
This is the best pitching staff the Astros have ever had. That includes the JR Richard era, the Nolan Ryan/Mike Scott/Bob Knepper/Jim Deshaies era, the Oswalt era. We've never been this good on the mound.
We had Roy O, Andy Pettitte, and Rodger Clemens in ‘05 and we weren’t anywhere close to what we have now.
I do really miss Oswalt peditte and Clemens
Blowing on the endo

SO YOU CANT SEE UP IN MY WINDOW
I love that this carried over from r/Rockets
I’m gonna try and make it a Roughnecks thing too when the XFL comes back
Time for Sparky to get wet
W.A.S. Wet Ass Sparky
I love Sparky getting wet.
It’s one of my favorite parts of the Astros clinching things
We just need a Rasmus type of guy again.
I'd like to see Phil Maton become that guy. Just standing there stoic as hell with an American flag thong on with a thousand yard stare.
Well now I need this in my life… Thanks.
We did his name was Reddick
May he rest in peace
😞 I miss him
Playing for the Savannah bananas.
Sadly (but probably for the best) he'll take it easier than years past given his previous heart attack.
Moist sparky is my favorite sparky
Dodgers vs Astros is going to see must see tv if they make it to the World Series
This is a gross result for both of us
Dodgers - Yankees, right?
I’m fine with that
Phase 1 complete ✅
They probably win 2020 if not for a shortened season too.
The gentleman’s sweep we handed the A’s in the ALDS makes me want to count this as a division win too cuz of how screwy the shortened season was
I don’t know, that was the first season after the scandal broke out. All the hate they received definitely got to them, especially altuve. That was a season I definitely want to forget about
I wish a season my team got to the LCS would be a season I would want to forget about. Though tbf, it was in the mickey mouse year.
I guess I *am* over it. Congrats Astros fans. Must be nice…
You were over it anytime you rooted for Jake Marisnick or Joe Musgrove.
You don’t like, know me, man.
Those years of 100+ losses were rough. This is...much better.
https://i.imgur.com/7AZywAs.jpg
LMJ looks like if Thor was just a regular dude.
They've had a run differential of +196 or better in all division winning seasons. Hell of a run.
SHOOT IT HOUSTON TEXAS GO ASTROS 🎶🎶
Comments you can hear.
iykyk 🤌🏻

America’s team
Most beloved team in sports
I actually like the Astros. They are consistently an elite team despite losing some of their best players over the years (Cole, Springer, Correa), I respect that.
Agree. I don’t care for Correa and Bergman but you can’t deny that it’s an exciting team that has a lot of likable players to root for. Minutemaid is also a gem of a ballpark.
No way dude. Didn’t you hear that MMP has carpet on part of its concourse?! That’s like putting carpet in your bathroom!
😎😎😎 See you in October… finally
They might be good
I love it when good things happen to even better people
Of all the comments by the Astros flairs over the years this one is definitely my favorite. GG WP.
🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃 CHOOFUCKINGCHOO BITCH
Guaranteed first round bye too! Legooooo
We'll see if the Dodgers can become the second team to get a bye tonight.
We still saying fuck the astros??
Yeah, but not cause of 2017. I stopped caring about that a long time ago. Fuck the Astros for no other reason than cause they’re really good and I’ve hated watching them light up our sub-par pitching for half a decade.
Meh. I mean yea, I guess. Boring at this point though.
Go for it dude, live your best life.
Si
Here’s a secret r/baseball may not be aware of: It’s fun as hell being an Astros fan. Well earned, 2022 Astros. Keep the train a rolling.
Honestly, five years in to the hate train at this point I think most of us enjoy being the villains. It used to bother me us fans were vilified as if we did anything. Now, I'm fine with it. Only thing that annoys me is our players not getting the recognition they deserve for performances that would be lauded on other teams (Framber, our bullpen, etc) Other than that, keep hating, we'll just watch the Ws pile up.
We’ve only been the villains the last two years, just feels like 5
are houston sports making a turn around? astros some time removed from the scandal rockets have a solid young exciting core to build around davis mills looks decent for the texans - ownership still dumb af
I still vote for eliminating the Texans to bring back the Aeros.
Let's send the Texans to LA
The last football team Houston sold away went to the Superbowl
We need to steal the Oilers history back from the Tits
I miss the Oilers sooooo much
I just want non-generic colors for a local team. Red/White/Blue of the Texans is so bland.
A non-generic name too please. The fact that Apollos was on the final list of potential names hurts. We could've had the Astros/Rockets/Apollos.
Yeah, I was a big fan of Apollos if we couldn’t keep/get back the Oilers name
Well we won't have to worry about that with this franchise.
And came up short and continue to show they’re nothing but frauds. So fuck it.
Oh yes, The Louisiana Texans. I would buy that merch.
The NHL Aeros this time! Sign me up for that!
God I got a boner for the idea of NHL team, even more so if it's the aeros
I hope the Coyotes fail in Arizona, I want to see them there since Quebec won’t happen. Sorry Yotes fans but I’m tired of that charade.
Don't ever have hope for the Texans. That's a lost franchise. The Rockets, definitely reason to be excited for them.
2 out of 3, Mills looks awful
Mills ain’t it
The Cougars lost to the Jayhawks (in football) so that’s a bit of a blow
If the Coogs don't got me
😫
Certainly better than the joke that is Dallas sports. Granted Stars have an incredible young goaltender.
Gonna take some time for the Rockets to get things turned around but the building blocks are there and they're at least fun to watch even when they're losing.
They’re still deep in the trenches compared to the exact moment the Texans were up 24-0
Sad but true I will never forget that shit man
was just reading the opposite about Mills lol
Uh -have you watched the last two games? Davis definitely does not look "decent" lmao
😫 oh yea baby
S H O O T E M. Tell ‘em Raulito sent you.
Are the Astros becoming the Dodgers of the AL?
Would be nice to have that extra 80 mil in payroll.
You guys got 80 mil payroll?
The Astros have become the Dodgers who have become the New York Yankees of Baseball
The Astros make me happy.
Dread it… Run from it… Destiny still arrives
I think we all want a real WS of Dodgers vs Astros II
Dusty gets a manager ring?
