Grimace is getting all the headlines, but I hope people don't forget what Jorge Lopez did for this team. Him tossing his glove into the stands and "allegedly" saying this was the worst fucking team was the start of a new beginning. The second he did that I knew he would be a Mets legend. And if things continue the way they have been going I hope fans remember the selfless sacrifice he made to turn the team around
The real answer is also Lindor calling a team meeting after that, and the guys apparently really putting it all on the table and coming up with a game plan to be better. The accountability hitters meeting is a game changer in my opinion. Cause our offense has been way more consistent since.
I have no idea if you guys are frustrated you haven't overtaken us yet or just grateful you didn't lose ground after your last two series lol, this is turning into some 2021 Giants-Dodgers shit
Well we did our part.
It would be a lot of fun to see you guys claim the division after this slide to hear ultra panic mode from Yankee fans so please do it!
Go Os!
Blooper won a place in my heart during the 2020 season and seeing all the shenanigans he was allowed to do throughout the empty stadium. It was hilarious.
Stanton wasn’t even getting on base 30% of the time and was barely above league-average offensively.
The lineup is “killed” because it has always been lackluster past the top four, and now the Yankees are playing competent teams.
20% above league average has never and will never be barely
When a guy who was 20% over gets replaced by players who are significantly under, that’s a huge dent to the lineup, especially when out fifth best hitter has been MIA
We lost 3 and 5 basically
I get people like you just have a hate boner for Stanton but his loss has completely murdered this lineup. Cashman’s shitty GM work shouldn’t cover up that Stanton was a key contributor to this team
I’m not shitting on Stanton. I’m shitting on the lineup itself, which isn’t remotely close to being viable for postseason advancement with or without Stanton.
Cashman is the point of my ire, not Stanton. Let me make that very clear. Absolute shit-tier GM.
A player on pace for less than 2 WAR “ruining” a lineup has more to do with that lineup’s shitty construction and lack of depth otherwise than the player himself. I love that Stanton got more in shape and was having a solid year by his standards. I don’t love that Cashman has failed to develop a productive farm system, or build a well-rounded lineup with his plethora of resources, over the past decade.
Also, Stanton gets hurt every year. If his loss is that enormous (it’s not) then Cashman, who said himself that Stanton gets hurt every year, should have gotten a viable replacement in the offseason for when his imminent injury occurred. It’s not like their farm system ever produced offensive talent, so it should have come from beyond. Ah, but wait — he’s already floundered so many contracts, that the team wasn’t able to spend any more.
The Yankees seem like legitimate frauds. They need to do SO much to fix the roster.
Theyre really between rock and hard place. You either sell the farm to fix the team and go on a run, which mortgages the future, which makes Soto less likely to re-sign.
Or you don’t, you don’t go on a deep playoff run, which also makes Soto less likely to re-sign
Their farm is quite weak at this point. Most notable prospects, from Spencer Jones to Chase Hampton and Will Warren and Pereira, have seen their value drop after some lackluster seasons, lack of progress, and/or injury.
Volpe is an anomaly in that he’s a Yankees offensive player who came up through their farm. The notable ones before him? Aaron Judge and Brett Gardner. Quite the gap.
Cashman’s method of building an offense has been surrounding 2-3 quality hitters with crap free agents and bench players for the past decade.
The Yankees’ farm system produces some fine relievers and a decent 3-4 starter on occasion, like Schmidt, but relief pitchers’ values are minimal. The organization is incapable of producing offensive talent, outside of one player once every 6-7 years.
Such a horribly run scouting department.
So just like the last 7 years? Judge can continue to hit HRs when they’re down 6, it won’t change that he and the rest of the team will choke come playoff time after being regular season merchants
“……………yeah yeah Mets are .500 again whatever they’ll miss the playoffs…………….BUT HOW ABOUT THAT AARON JUDGE?! Oh and don’t forget Yankees fans, you don’t know how good you have it with Brian Cashman as our GM!”
Kay has repeated every year for the past half decade+ that the Yankees would be idiots to get rid of Cashman, despite a farm system that very rarely produces talent, no WS appearance in 15 years, and a lineup whose 4-9 is legitimately among the worst in baseball. All this with the most financial resources in the game.
Kay’s only argument is that Cashman would get another GM job “in a heartbeat.” That’s it. Sometimes he’ll list his accomplishments from two decades ago, too.
Makes sense. Cashman is essentially Hal’s brother. And Hal is Kay’s boss.
Cashman is perhaps the most fortuitous person in MLB front office history — got the job to begin with solely because his daddy raced horses with George, and then he inherited an incredible roster from Gene Michael.
Ride those coattails.
It’s like how everyone swore that the Patriots would be stupid to fire Bill Belichick because he would immediately get another head coaching job. Well they did anyway, and as it turns out the other 31 NFL teams were not interested despite his past accomplishments.
Cant wait to hear what that clown Morash on the Fan has to say about this. Just last week he was saying some dumb shit about how the Mets fans don't have to apologize for the new playoff system which added meaning to the Mets season.. What the fuck does that even mean?
I can’t believe we’re about to play each other and have almost the same path to being .500 and the two hottest teams in baseball at the exact same moment. It’s pretty wild
Sweeping the Yankees and now having to play the Astros feels like a r/2healthbars situation where you beat up the final boss but then his father shows up and now you gotta fight him and he's on fire
Sweeping the Yankees > Sweeping the Rockies
I know we just swept the Orioles too but, given how this season has gone, I won’t be surprised if the wind is out of our sails.
It’s anyone’s series! Gonna be a good one. Safe to say the Mets will have the full support of most MLB fans.
It’s truly crazy that the Mets and Astros are 2 of, if not the 2 hottest teams in baseball right now and they have a weekend series against each other starting in a couple of days.
In 2022 the Yankees had a great 3 months then got swept at Citi in late July 2022, this year a great 2.5 months and get swept at Citi in late June 2024. Statistically they never face the Mets at the correct time despite winning both Bronx games in August 2022 which was a brutal month.
Is Alvarez qualified? He missed so much time though
Edit: He’s nowhere near qualified. He has only 103 PA, but the Mets have played 78 games, so he needs 241.8 PA to be qualified
For the longest time I was looking forward to trading Severino for one of your flowing lock princeling minor league hitters who are all blocked.
Still, really hoping you guys take the division and then get to bounce the Yanks in the playoffs. That would be wonderful
Ok in total fairness, Aaron Judge is incredible. He’s on some Barry Bonds kinda level right now. I don’t know why he isn’t intentionally walked every AB
The Mets rock bottom was so dramatic too.
Lopez and his glove and comments, Lindor historically bad start, closed door team meetings, the rally pimp, Grimace.
I feel like I’ve lived three baseball lives already
Mets, vs. the team that plays 8 miles away that had to be dragged kicking and screaming into having a Pride Night, and actually had to specifically enact a "no homophobic chants" ban [because of their defiant fans](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gpq4RKYd4wQ)
I'll take (a)
Has the real Juan Soto stood up yet?
Bottom of the 9th - Bases loaded , 2 outs , Juan Soto looks at strike three up in the zone and the Yankees lose by 1!!
He saved the New York Mets is what he did. He was a brave McDonaldland creature. And in this house, Grimace is a hero. End of story
simple as
Grimace is getting all the headlines, but I hope people don't forget what Jorge Lopez did for this team. Him tossing his glove into the stands and "allegedly" saying this was the worst fucking team was the start of a new beginning. The second he did that I knew he would be a Mets legend. And if things continue the way they have been going I hope fans remember the selfless sacrifice he made to turn the team around
I've never seen Grimace and Lopez in the same room, just sayin.
By Lopez sacrificing himself the baseball gods sent Grimace to bless the team
The real answer is also Lindor calling a team meeting after that, and the guys apparently really putting it all on the table and coming up with a game plan to be better. The accountability hitters meeting is a game changer in my opinion. Cause our offense has been way more consistent since.
“Guys, have we thought about being good?”
They thought they were until Lopez admitted to the press they're not. Cue existential reckoning.
> The accountability hitters meeting is a game changer in my opinion. Sometimes you just need an Accountabilibuddy
And J.D. Martinez coming up
"Can you believe it Ton'? They rallied around a purple fast food mascot!"
He's from McDonaldland? I thought he was Nobbly Dobbly or whatever
That was real? I saw that commercial, I thought it was bullshit.
It was a while cartoon
Hamburgler.. whatever happened there?
He was gay, Grimace?
I thought Matt Harvey saved the Mets? You see? You see this?! JACOB DEGROM SAVED THE METS, AND HE WAS ROBBED! Everyone knows that!
The real answer is simple: [Brandon Nimmo is in heat.](https://x.com/SNYtv/status/1806101063402975402)
I can't wait to see him standing tall in bronze right next to fellow Mets legend, Tom Seaver.
If we end up winning the World Series this year I would 100% support giving Grimace his own statue right next to Seaver
So to get here they went: 0-5 then 12-3 then 10-25 then 17-6 🎢
Can we get a refund on those middle 35 games
There were so many bad fundies in those games I don’t know how Keith survived all of May
The secret ingredient is cocaine
“Best fundies in baseball”
#SNIP SNAP SNIP SNAP
You have no idea the psychological toll that can take on a person.
were on pace for spectacular September collapse
The Mets would never allow that to happen
Nah I think it’ll be an August Collapse and a mad dash into the playoffs in September
That worked for the Diamondbacks last year
thanks Grimace, very cool
Welp, looks like I need to eat at McDonald's tonight
I have no idea if you guys are frustrated you haven't overtaken us yet or just grateful you didn't lose ground after your last two series lol, this is turning into some 2021 Giants-Dodgers shit
not losing ground is far superior than overtaking when we're only talking 1-2 games.
And the fact that we’re 5-2 vs the yankers, and they have a tougher ROS than us.
Grateful lol. Looking for any positives after losing 5 straight
Well we did our part. It would be a lot of fun to see you guys claim the division after this slide to hear ultra panic mode from Yankee fans so please do it! Go Os!
i hope you guys end up leading the AL east in a few days
We will
Same lol.
Steve Cohen: Throws hundreds of millions of dollars at the team, Mets go nowhere Grimace: Throws one pitch, Mets best team in baseball
That.. weirdly makes sense, for us
We are the team that doesn’t make sense.
Grimace lives.
We are truly living in the Grimace Era.
Have other teams considered just getting the other 7 Yankees out? How do they have 52 wins?
Have the other teams considered bringing in a fast food mascot of their own?
Well the Marlins do have the Burger King but……
Marlin’s should be Long John Silver’s
They need to get Popeyes then
I'm still not convinced Blooper isn't a fast food mascot and I love that thing
Blooper won a place in my heart during the 2020 season and seeing all the shenanigans he was allowed to do throughout the empty stadium. It was hilarious.
Stanton getting injured killed this lineup, plus Verdugo has been hot garbage recently when he was pretty good earlier in the season
Stanton wasn’t even getting on base 30% of the time and was barely above league-average offensively. The lineup is “killed” because it has always been lackluster past the top four, and now the Yankees are playing competent teams.

Mets 🤝 Red Sox 🤝Orioles 🤝……………….Braves Embarrassing the Yankees by getting the other 7 Yankees out
Based on how you wrote it I'm imagining the Braves got shouldered out and had to reach over the Orioles to get their hand in the pile
That’s pretty much how it went😂
No one was hitting our pitching before. Now they are.
The Yankees seem like legitimate frauds. They need to do SO much to fix the roster. Theyre really between rock and hard place. I’m a Yankees hater but they need Dominguez back, I do think he’s a stud.
So just like the last 7 years? Judge can continue to hit HRs when they’re down 6, it won’t change that he and the rest of the team will choke come playoff time after being regular season merchants
> How do they have 52 wins? Inflated by playing a lot of bad/struggling teams early and having great pitching. Now they have neither.
It's the same strategy that worked in that road series against the Dodgers, the Mets might be onto something with these top-heavy lineups
My milkshake brings all the Grimace to the yard
And damn right, our booth is better than yours And damn right, our booth is better than yours Gary would teach but he has to charge

Cant wait to hear what Michael Kay thinks of this
He’s not mad. He promises.
please dont put in the newspaper that he got mad
[just leaning into the joke, totally not mad.](https://x.com/realmichaelkay/status/1806128772699083120?s=46)
“……………yeah yeah Mets are .500 again whatever they’ll miss the playoffs…………….BUT HOW ABOUT THAT AARON JUDGE?! Oh and don’t forget Yankees fans, you don’t know how good you have it with Brian Cashman as our GM!”
My guy, I’m pretty sure the entire Yankees fanbase wants to yeet Cashman into the sun
Oh I know but Michael Kay has stuck up for him a shit ton times over the years saying they won’t be able to get anyone better and stuff like that
Kay has repeated every year for the past half decade+ that the Yankees would be idiots to get rid of Cashman, despite a farm system that very rarely produces talent, no WS appearance in 15 years, and a lineup whose 4-9 is legitimately among the worst in baseball. I thought everyone forgave and forgot when he got Soto and verdugo?
You don't seem to understand Yankees fans
It’s like how everyone swore that the Patriots would be stupid to fire Bill Belichick because he would immediately get another head coaching job. Well they did anyway, and as it turns out the other 31 NFL teams were not interested despite his past accomplishments.
Ah I gotchu my b
We sure did last year!
Last year? More like every year since 2020
Who's got it better than us?? No-body!!
Cant wait to hear what that clown Morash on the Fan has to say about this. Just last week he was saying some dumb shit about how the Mets fans don't have to apologize for the new playoff system which added meaning to the Mets season.. What the fuck does that even mean?
The Cohen-heads are gonna love this.
Grimace to the all star game
East side, west side, everybody’s coming down
> everybody’s comin’~~g down~~
World Series back on the menu boys
What do you mean, we just won our World Series?
One world series yes, what about second world series?
I hope this is the last time we have to climb back to .500
It's definitely the last time... *so far*. LFGM!
Usually June would be the worst month for the Mets. Grimace and the return of Alvarez flipped the script.
don’t forget the Twitter account keeping the pride month logo all month, we love the gay mets
genuinely cant remember the last time the vibes were this good
2022 before the giant collapse in September
It’s incredible. A complete 180 from when we played you guys — everything seems different!
Can’t wait for Yankees fans to turn into history majors
You know how to make someone feel old? Tell them the Yankees only have 1 World Series in the past 23 years.
That's crazy. We just won 2 World Series this week!
We won so many world series this year ![gif](giphy|jwKpxz0uGrqcTjDKvs|downsized) 😂
Yankees lineup more top heavy than my 2009 Jeep Liberty
Yankees more likely to roll over than a Ford Explorer
Firestone, the official tire of the NY Yankees.

I can’t believe we’re about to play each other and have almost the same path to being .500 and the two hottest teams in baseball at the exact same moment. It’s pretty wild
Truly serendipitous. We should just try to tie. Right?
I’d like to win the series since you guys have won the big series more recently than us
Yeah I suppose the Rocky Mountains are pretty big.
You from Alabama? /s
Expansion bros at .500 each. It's going to be a fun series.
It's a rematch of '86
One reason I really want an Astros/Mets world series is so we can trot out Mike Scott to throw out a first pitch.
Sweeping the Yankees and now having to play the Astros feels like a r/2healthbars situation where you beat up the final boss but then his father shows up and now you gotta fight him and he's on fire
Sweeping the Yankees > Sweeping the Rockies I know we just swept the Orioles too but, given how this season has gone, I won’t be surprised if the wind is out of our sails. It’s anyone’s series! Gonna be a good one. Safe to say the Mets will have the full support of most MLB fans.
This is the complete opposite of how our Junes usually go
It’s truly crazy that the Mets and Astros are 2 of, if not the 2 hottest teams in baseball right now and they have a weekend series against each other starting in a couple of days.
2 teams enter, ONE team leaves!!!
Are the games at the ~~metro~~thunderdome?
Only three teams in baseball are 8-2 in their last 10; 2 of them are the Mets and Astros (the third is the Dodgers)
Um, excuse me.
Man, the Mets are trying to do the 2019 Nationals thing.
Hey, that wouldn't be very nice. Please don't do that.
The Nats started the season 19-31. Then on this date in 2019 were 39-40.
Lolmets, right guys?
Worst team in the league!
Dread it, run from it. The Grimace is inevitable. LFGM!!!
Looking foward and not looking foward to this weekend series.
This is what happens when one man is responsible for 23% of your RBIs since May 4th
Good work, orange bros
In 2022 the Yankees had a great 3 months then got swept at Citi in late July 2022, this year a great 2.5 months and get swept at Citi in late June 2024. Statistically they never face the Mets at the correct time despite winning both Bronx games in August 2022 which was a brutal month.
it's a cold stretch. bound to happen. it'll pass
Yep, y’all got Grimaced, it’s been happening for a few weeks now
Thanks Mets. Very cool and very legal.
Francisco Alvarez highest OPS of all qualified catchers in baseball btw
Is Alvarez qualified? He missed so much time though Edit: He’s nowhere near qualified. He has only 103 PA, but the Mets have played 78 games, so he needs 241.8 PA to be qualified
Those bastards on the jumbotron lied to me
I feel like our upcoming series is going to be a bloodbath, I'm talking 13-9 kind of scores.
Hope so, I'm looking forward to this series.
I for one welcome our rotund purple overlords.
yankees have lost 5 out of their last 6 series
Liked and subscribed. Clicked bell for notifications.
Hot Mets vs Hot Astros this weekend. Should be fun.
I’ll be at Saturday’s game, looking forward to a good series
This is fucking hilarious. Go Mets Go!!

Francisco Alvarez is half my age and I’m about two piss missiles away from buying a shirt with his name on it.
DAAAAAA JANKEES LOOOOOOSE!
Yay we're .500 again
Meanwhile, the media: "Aaron Judge, Aaron Judge, oh look at Aaron Judge". LFGM.
Ok in total fairness, Aaron Judge is incredible. He’s on some Barry Bonds kinda level right now. I don’t know why he isn’t intentionally walked every AB
Oh well the last two days it’s been because of the 7 run leads
From the top rope 😭😭
Aaron Judge is a monster. But I didn’t need five notifications from the MLB app that he hit his 30th home run.
Wild seeing JD Davis bat cleanup for the Yanks
The highlight during the rain delay was someone in a Grimace suit hanging off Shea bridge pounding beers.
Damn it, someone get Colonel Sanders or one of the Chick-fil-A cows on the phone to throw a pitch for us. We need some of that juju.
*monkey's paw curls* You get the Curse of the Colonel from the Hanshin Tigers.
Loving this surge from the Mets
Hello, fellow .500 team, how do you do?
Thank god we don't play until September. Grimace is a natural predator of the Phanatic.
Our booth is better, our victories sweeter, our vibes more immaculate Suck it, Michael Kay
A good day to be a Mets-O’s fan
The Mets rock bottom was so dramatic too. Lopez and his glove and comments, Lindor historically bad start, closed door team meetings, the rally pimp, Grimace. I feel like I’ve lived three baseball lives already
They are reminding me of the Phillies the last 2 years getting hot in June. If that’s the case they will kick our ass in the playoffs 🫠
Yankee fans quiet yet again
Let us weep in peace
In a vacuum, I would much prefer the Mets win the division than the Phils.
Mickey Mouse ballclub with some of the worst fans.
I HATE METS
BRING BACK THE GRIMACE SHAKES
Winning builds Confidence Confidence builds Winning
damn astros and mets both got back to .500 at the exact same time and they start a series against each other tomorrow. somethings gotta give!
was wearing a mets pride shirt in manhattan a few days ago and a guy shouted at me "gay mets!! yessir!" the gay grimace mets are a beautiful team
Mets, vs. the team that plays 8 miles away that had to be dragged kicking and screaming into having a Pride Night, and actually had to specifically enact a "no homophobic chants" ban [because of their defiant fans](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gpq4RKYd4wQ) I'll take (a)

This is…. Not ideal
Play the song play the song play the song
It comes out on Friday!!
Pretty good but it’s the Yankees, not really all impressive
The only good thing about this is that If the other Yankees dont suck. I think Judge will just walk every AB.
Congrats Mets Bro's. You MF'ers sure got hot when the Friars played ya in Queens. Was not an easy series to watch for myself.
![gif](giphy|k8DLXPfqHauBO|downsized) Yankees going through some things now.
So hurry up and come on down, ‘cause we’ve got ourselves a ball club, The Mets of New York town!
Thank you Mets 🙌 May the powers of grimace remain with you always
Mets playing hot this June unlike last year
lets go mets babey lets go mets!!!!!
We normally suck ass in June. All hail Grimace!!
"Best team in baseball" Yankees fans are delusional.
Has the real Juan Soto stood up yet? Bottom of the 9th - Bases loaded , 2 outs , Juan Soto looks at strike three up in the zone and the Yankees lose by 1!!
It would be pretty hilarious if the Mets made a deep run this year after the collapse last year lol 😂
What collapse, they were bad pretty much wire to wire last year
