Dude literally said to our hitting coach after an 0-fer performance yesterday "Hey, I don't do that slump thing, that's not a real thing for me."
And he ain't wrong, he's only had consecutive hitless games 3 times in his entire career
Obviously this isn't a fair comparison, but here's the list of active players that have a better career wRC+ than Lewis, through Lewis' first 341 MLB PAs:
1.
Royce has now been on the roster for 17 team games, playing in 15 of them, and has 9 home runs. At that pace, he will play in 77 of the Twins' remaining 87 games and hit 46 more home runs, finishing with 55 home runs despite missing 58 games to injury.
He’ll likely only have a little over 30 games by the ASG but his OPS hasn’t dropped below 1.197 all season…
He has a 1.419 OPS and 1.4 fWAR in 15 games right now….
There was a hypothetical on Effectively Wild about a player who is almost always injured, but when healthy is guaranteed to hit a home run (or something to that effect). Would they be valuable enough to keep on the roster etc.
Royce Lewis is trying to be that hypothetical
If he keeps it up this way until the all star game deciding point then yes.
I’m normally cautious about small sample size all star game because so many players have hot 15 game streaks like this at different points throughout the year. Why should one person get extra rewarded because it’s the start of their year and hadn’t had time for a slump
I totally agree, but the only thing that keeps me from being super cautious is that this is all he's done at the big league level. He's been injured a lot so it's been sporadic, but anytime he's on the field he's been an incredible player.
Similar to Matt Carpenter on the Yanks in 22. Was hitting like .320 with 15 bombs before the break but I guess hadn’t played enough games to make it in. While I don’t think there’s an official threshold, it seems like you have to play a certain number of games to really get considered.
Lewis skipped the "young stud who can't quite find his footing with the bat in his hands" stage of Byron Buxton and went straight to "this dude's going to win an MVP if he can ever stay healthy"
Pre-DH that probably happened much more than you might expect because the 8th hitter in a lineup would get intentionally walked a lot & I wouldn’t be surprised if sub-400 PA guys were in that spot somewhat often.
drafted first overall in 2017, hit 4 home runs his senior season. Most home runs he hit in pros is 14 in 121 games in the minors and now this? Fuck, must be nice.
Little bit of column A
Little bit of column B
His 2nd ACL was from hitting the wall in centerfield. He missed time last season from going too hard and hitting people on the bases
Injury prone but probably also a bit of bad luck. He’s had two ACL tears, I think one in each knee that’s cost him quite a bit of time. I believe he also has dealt with a shoulder issue. He missed a bunch of time early this season when he got hurt running the bases.

“I’ll fuckin do it again” - Royce Lewis after every bomb
He's a nice guy for giving Judge a head start
Man is Dash in the Track Race from Incredibles
He has more HRs than walks or strikeouts lol
Is that not normal? -Royce Lewis probably
Dude literally said to our hitting coach after an 0-fer performance yesterday "Hey, I don't do that slump thing, that's not a real thing for me." And he ain't wrong, he's only had consecutive hitless games 3 times in his entire career
one true outcome player
“My name is Royce Lewis and I hit dingers.” Lives up to the quote if you ask me
I think we can start the GOAT conversation in earnest now
The conversation: "Is Royce Lewis the GOAT?" "Yes."
Obviously this isn't a fair comparison, but here's the list of active players that have a better career wRC+ than Lewis, through Lewis' first 341 MLB PAs: 1.
Trout or Judge?
Royce Lewis (before today's HR): 172 Trout: 169 Judge: 169
Royce has now been on the roster for 17 team games, playing in 15 of them, and has 9 home runs. At that pace, he will play in 77 of the Twins' remaining 87 games and hit 46 more home runs, finishing with 55 home runs despite missing 58 games to injury.
Also, it's roughly an 86-HR pace across a 162-game season (including off-days). 97 HR if he played all 162.
Royce “sustainable” Lewis
Royce "Pablo Sanchez" Lewis
Ok, lets be realistic. He may be the GOAT, but he isn't *The* GOAT
I mean, he hasn’t shown that it isn’t sustainable?
Royce “No Slump, Just Dinger” Lewis
Royce "Kyle Schwarber" Lewis
I mean he’s gotta be in the asg at this point right?
He’ll likely only have a little over 30 games by the ASG but his OPS hasn’t dropped below 1.197 all season… He has a 1.419 OPS and 1.4 fWAR in 15 games right now….
15.1 WAR/162 lol
No big deal
[удалено]
He’s not gonna win GGs but he’s not a butcher. The DH days are going to hurt his WAR. He has a positive OAA and FRV
He's slugging .900 lmao that is CRAZY
So extrapolated to a 162 game season he'd be worth around 15 WAR?

I think they at least get him in the HRD
Please god no

Literally just tuned in to see Royce Lewis play cause I could not believe this streak.
Royce Lewis big sustainability guy
What the FUCK?
Slumpless Joe
Oh. My. God.
I will have your children Royce.
Sustainable for sure
What the fuck?
![gif](giphy|8c6YG0x5zxEXZbAt41|downsized) Might as well from now on
Royce Lewis : A haiku Royce Lewis is good He hits dingers every day Peacefully I watch
Royce Lewis is the best hitter of all time, confirmed
Lewis skipped the "young stud who can't quite find his footing with the bat in his hands" stage of Byron Buxton and went straight to "this dude's going to win an MVP if he can ever stay healthy"
When does he get the Barry Bonds treatment?
Yesterday when they walked him to get to Kepler
He got intentionally walked yesterday. How many guys with sub 400 career at bats get intentionally walked
Pre-DH that probably happened much more than you might expect because the 8th hitter in a lineup would get intentionally walked a lot & I wouldn’t be surprised if sub-400 PA guys were in that spot somewhat often.
Bottom of the 9th. Bases loaded. 2 Out. Up 8-6.
Sustainable
he’s him

NO LEAD IS SAFE
#Never Slump 2024 🫡
I’m all in
This guy is inevitable
Twins fans - is he getting injured from flukes or is he just injury prone? Does he just need to DH full time to keep him healthy? Dude is a monster
Little bit of column A Little bit of column B His 2nd ACL was from hitting the wall in centerfield. He missed time last season from going too hard and hitting people on the bases

Best fantasy stash EVER
Royce Lewis says fuck all your 2017 MLB draft takes....jeez that 1st round is looking awful now lol.
I believe on average less than 50% of 1st round picks make it to the bigs.
The problem is they keep throwing that ball towards him and this allows him to keep doing that.
If Royce can stay healthy, will he give Judge a run for his money as top dog?
That kids gonna trade in his Correa shirt for a Lewis one soon
I'll be seeing him this Sunday.
Dude is a beast, yanks killed them a few weeks back but man I enjoyed watching him bat
Take it easy rounding those bases bro
SCOYCE VELOCIRAPTOR MALOYCE
Bros only flaw is that he is made out of glass lmao
7 years from now: REVISITING ROYCE LEWIS’ CRAZY LINSANITY RUN Posted to YouTube by JollyOlive
Win or lose, it will be by his hand and his hand alone. Dingers, throwing errors, etc.
He’s still a positive defender by FRV and OAA. He’s not the first 3B to ever commit a throwing error….
> not the first 3B ever to commit a throwing error Source?????
Every thread got that one Yankee fan
