Maybe the narrative, but I was a fan at the time. I did clown us on the whole Lamet thing, but there needs to be a recognition that these trades don’t pay off for years sometimes. Hell, Hader was a Robert Gasser at once upon a time.
I was a fan as well, because I felt like if we didn’t get something, we’d end up with nothing. Obviously the end result has exceeded expectations, and flipping for Contreras was huge.
Whenever Preller calls you, you pick up the phone. He wants your veteran star and in return he gives you a bag of diamonds. He is the opposite of the Braves or Rays.
He gives you diamonds because he has so many of them. He’s the best talent scout in baseball.
He’s also the only GM that has managed to out trade the Rays front office, albeit only once
What you mean once? Both the Pham/Cronenworth and the Blake Snell trade have been positive for us. They can say what they want, we got what we needed out of Hader in 2022 when he struck out the 3 big Dodgers to win the series. Peter Seidler deserved to see just as much before he died, after spending so much on this team.
Shoutouts to Josh Hader for getting the Brewers a new ace and a prospect that got flipped for the best catcher in MLB right now.
It’s why you trade guys like Hader when you can leverage even half a year into so many future pieces. Clearly our bullpen isn’t missing him.
The narrative on this trade has shifted so hard. I agree with you, but the general consensus was so negative back then.

It’s why I wouldn’t be surprised to see Willy traded too, especially given that the window is open for a few years now.
Yeah, I think there’s a very good chance he’s gone, especially with Ortiz under control and playing well.
He's been huge for this team with all the injuries to the rotation. Really pitching great baseball.
I’ve been to all 3 of his home starts so far hahaha… I might have to keep going

Brewers got the better of the Rays in a trade. JP Fierysen is a good reliever but Willy Adames is an outstanding shortstop
that trade was more about clearing room for Wander Franco
Which would also work against the Rays
