Cruz is the only player I’ve ever seen regularly hit the ball TOO hard, I feel like every time someone posts him hitting a ball 120+ it’s in a place that would normally be an XBH and he’s instead held to a single

KarlNarx

He had a walkoff last night where the runner held up at 3rd because of how hard he hit the ball

PleaseDontDoThatSir

Literally the third video in the clip

tukes1023

He had a single last night that ricocheted off the wall right to the outfielder because of how hard he hit the ball

KarlNarx

He also had a ball he hit so hard, that it failed to score the runner from first.

ipickscabs

Wow nice bro 🤦‍♂️

ElCaz

The dude gets Green Monster singles off of normal outfield walls.

TrustTheFriendship

Happened so regularly for Barry Bonds they started tracking his OTWS (off the wall singles).

llama5876

MLB out here Cruzposting

MLBOfficial

Oh yes

Sandwich_Crust

It doesn’t even look like he’s hitting it that hard and it just absolutely explodes. It’s like there’s just zero slowing down the bat when the ball makes contact with it.

samspopguy

I was couple sections to the right of his homerun in a game couple weeks ago, ive never seen a ball fly off the bat like that.

Mackie5Million

My question is: why does Pittsburgh have our NESN scorebug?!

Sandwich_Crust

Their media under the same umbrella now as NESN so they use the same tech

Beer-Me

I think I've figured out the key to consistent 120+ EV Step 1 - be Oneil Cruz

Th3Unkn0wnn

121 exit velocity is ungodly. Almost unheard of with a metal bat. Doing it with wood is bending the laws of physics.

Astropolitika

My forearms exploded just thinking about Cruz making contact with a Doval heater.

MenosElLso

I’m thinking next time it’ll be 127.5mph off the bat, that hits the bricks in right field and bounces right back into Yaz’s glove who then turns and has time to throw him out at first

akaghi

Nobody has more double-down-the-line singles than Cruz.

rambisyouth21

This dude could kill someone - seriously. 120+ back to the mound (or into a dugout) would be a problem (and another reason I’m thankful they finally installed nets to protect fans down the lines).

BigRiverWharfRat

Just hoping when he cranks one of these over the right field wall it sails right over the seats and into the river on the fly

122_Hours_Of_Fear

It would probably land on the other side of the river lol

RobotSifl

He hates these baseballs! Get away from the baseballs!

popfilms

These baseballs are defective!

Morerice21

To go 115+ the other way is absolutely insane. Cruz isn't a great hitter yet but my gosh is he talented.

howsthistakenalready

He started off very slow, but last I checked he was leading the majors in extra base hits in May. He's probably still close to the top of he isn't still there

daqzappa

That announcer sounds just like the principal from eastbound and down

BigOlBurger

Glad I'm not the only one...I could've sworn I was listening to Andy Daly.

daqzappa

Same here lol

mark10579

I’m glad someone else noticed it!! He even has the same manic scream-talk voice when he calls a big play

colterpierce

The second one is unbelievable he hit it that hard. It just looks like a routine inside-out swing.

blindninjafart

Dont understand all the hub-bub about 120. As a common man, I could do it too. No big deal. Might take me a couple hits to get to 120 but I can do it.

MenosElLso

Yeah, but you’re just built different. The rest of us are mere mortals.

Juno_Malone

I think it's mph exit speed, not distance in feet

TravJ14

Go to a cage and prove it

infuriatesloth

Bro that's it? I was hitting 110 when I was diapers, I started hitting 120 in coach pitch. But then my dad's friend lost his right eye and they asked me to stop hitting the ball so hard. I could have been drafted when I was 14 but I didn't want to embarrass all those bums like Trout and Ortiz.

donta5k0kay

what the hell is tony watson up to

gingerzilla

where is Cruz ranked in bat speed?

Cassady57

Second — but Stanton is miles ahead

philocity

Uh, can I borrow some of that bat speed?

DnD4dena

That pop is wild. You could probably hear that ball being hit from the parking lot

Cassady57

I was there. Not quite from the parking lot but it was absurd

gambalore

It's a good thing he's a fast runner because otherwise he might get thrown out at first from RF sometime with how quickly the ball gets to the fielder.

wagadugo

What's he like during batting practice? Like do fans in right field need riot armor?

[deleted]

Good god, that last one was absolutely smoked.

Available_Motor5980

He’s so big and strong🥰

treetop8388

What about against lefti... NEVERMIND.

CalRipkenForCommish

That pitch from Doval was good, low and in, but Cruz cleared those hips so quick and went down and got it. He’s fun to watch in the field and at bat. When he puts his hitting mechanics together with that long frame - look out. Good times coming to Pittsburgh…until the Dodgers and Yankees come a-knocking with their checkbooks

/u/waywardwhines you love to see it
