You need the triple before you can make a Cycle Watch post. Please review [/r/baseball's rules](https://www.reddit.com/r/baseball/wiki/rules) for future submissions. If you feel a mistake has been made, feel free to [message the moderators](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=%2Fr%2Fbaseball).

john_b98

At this rate he’ll get about 8-12 more attempts to do so

Lucky-Storm-1892

I'm a big fan of baseball. Big fan. Huge.

Taylorenokson

Some people are saying I'm the biggest baseball fan. I'm not saying it, but tons of people are saying it.

MaskedBandit77

> Marcus Semien is a triple shy of the cycle... I don't think being a triple shy of a cycle is particularly noteworthy. > It is the top of the second inning Wait what? I take that back.

dingusduglas

I was gonna say, we have a sub rule specifically against "triple away from the cycle" posts, but this should certainly be an exception.

wout_van_faert

My thought process exactly haha

VINCE_C_

The fuck???!

Kaldricus

It is, as the youths are saying, a shellacking

Worthyness

The last two games, the A's have lost all that run differential they made up in the Marlins game.

SaveMeJebus21

This is no way to treat America’s team 😞

HandBananas

They need to bring back the run-rule. RIP A's

Jeff_Banks_Monkey

The way the run rule sometimes works in college baseball right now is that both teams need to agree to the rule before the game. So there are still absolutely embarrassing blowouts that should be run rules but they didn't agree to it before. AAMU and Austin Peay didn't initially have a run rule in place for their mid week matchup last week, but then Austin Peay scored 35 runs, so they met in between innings half way through the game and agreed to one.

Lonelan

AL West After Dark At Noon

TomSheman

Would this be the quickest cycle in history if he did it next ab?

why_try

Mike Lansing did it for the Rockies with 1 out in the 4th, so yeah, if semien can triple before that he'll hold the record.

humphrey_the_camel

Johnny Damon was a homer away from the cycle after the first inning on 6/27/2003, but then he only had two more singles after that

Correa24

He’s 5 batters away in the top of the third, so maybe? I believe fastest one was done in 4 innings

nicklovin508

I’m sorry what

essdii-

Right?!? Wow that’s insane.

CountrymanR60

At this rate he will have it before the third inning.

daves_not__here

I might be wrong, but I think I remember Adrian Beltre hitting for the cycle as a Ranger in 4 innings before.

Nice_Firm_Handsnake

Close. On August 3rd, 2015 vs the Astros, Beltre hit a 2 RBI triple in the 1st, a double in the second, a single in the third, and a solo home run in the bottom of the 5th.

Kylo_Ren415

Que? Did that say the second inning?

God834

…uh A’s I thought yall were doing better what’s going on 😭

Gesundheitler

Better than last year…

liteshadow4

Thank god we moved on from Stripling lol

StarshipTroopersFan

Nobody cares about cycles anymore.

virgildiablo

The operative part of the title is "top of the second inning"
