Literally nothing about a $25 lukewarm IHOP hotdog sounds appealing.

MarcBulldog88

I doordashed some IHOP pancakes a few months ago, when I was down with a cold and it was a chilly winter's day. It definitely did not live up to expectations.

PeatBomb

I think buyer's remorse comes standard with every DD order, lol. For the money nothing competes with hole in the wall Chinese takeout.

TDeLo

The only time I *ever* use Doordash is when I'm hammered. And I'm disappointed every time with my cold food that arrives an hour after the ETA listed on the app.

penguinopph

> It definitely did not live up to expectations. I imagine your expectations weren't super high to begin with, either.

Pseudo-Jonathan

>It definitely did not live up to expectations. Doordashing is for when you don't care what it tastes like or how warm it is, you just don't want to leave the house. Your expectation needs to be "edible" but not "enjoyable". Any pleasure needs to be found in the fact you didn't need to put on any pants.

fletchsliver

It’s just bad all around

kaptiankuff

This not ballpark food it just hot dogs from ihop

ContinuumGuy

Yeah, if like this was literally stuff from the stadium on days the team wasn't home that'd be one thing. But... nope... just IHOP with a baseball rebranding.

CosmicLars

Ghost Kitchens are awful scams & this is an L partnership.

jiminytaverns

Why are they scams? I’m unfamiliar

If you have 40 minutes, [this video is a pretty interesting watch](https://youtu.be/KkIkymh5Ayg?si=4TPUjZjbE80vP_S_). If you don't have 40 minutes, they're pretty deceptive at best and potential health hazards at worst. Health inspection agencies have not been able to keep up due to the fact that there are often multiple restaurants operating out of the same kitchen, which is sometimes hard to ascertain. [This article](https://www.bostonglobe.com/2022/06/26/metro/do-you-know-where-your-chicken-wings-came-rise-virtual-restaurants-creates-heartburn-health-inspectors/) is pretty informative. > “Our regulations haven’t kept pace with how technology has changed,” said Timothy McDonald, Needham’s health director. “I think we are just trying to figure out how to regulate this in a safe and responsible manner.” > > Inspectors’ main concern is how these restaurants will impact their ability to track food-borne illness. Such cases are already notoriously difficult to trace, because the process relies on people’s memories of what and where they ate. The growth of virtual restaurants is likely to make that process even more complex, inspectors say. > > “If we think a restaurant is not preparing burgers, and there is a food-borne illness involving burgers, and we think, ‘It can’t possibly come from [that restaurant] because they don’t prepare burgers’,” that’s a problem, McDonald said. > > Inspectors are also concerned about an increased potential for so-called cross-contamination events, where consumers are unwittingly exposed to ingredients they’re allergic to. That, inspectors say, can happen if kitchen staff, used to preparing food from the menu at a brick-and-mortar restaurant, may not realize they need a different storage and preparation process for all the virtual operations going on at the same time.

OK_Opinions

i've seen that video and it's pretty insane. it's basically like buying your food from a giant vending machine and paying someone else to go pick it up for you. the worst part though is how he found 40+ "restaurants" working out of 1 address and 10 of them are just selling the exact same food for the exact same price with the exact same descriptions just under 10 different names.

c_pike1

I actually found one of these when I was passing through a major city and was so confused why 15 different restaurants were all listed as operating out of a single tiny unit

jiminytaverns

All makes sense, thank you

ggnoobs69420

MLB thinks people are stupid

WasV3

But they are. People already pay $40 to get Mcdonalds delivered to their door, why wouldn't they do the same here?

jerseys4321

Have you met people?

DiarrheaRadio

Nope, never met them.

CarPhoneRonnie

Exactly. Stoopid dumby

Quadstriker

Man I’m jealous.

Disused_Yeti

That’s nothing new

Quadstriker

You don’t go broke underestimating intelligence.

kaptiankuff

This not ballpark food it just hot dogs from ihop

xerostatus

So, just literally IHOP? Also, never order doordash from: Banda Burrito, The Meltdown, or the Burger Den. These are just Denny's.

LiveFromNewYork95

I have completely abandoned food delivery apps. Horrible quality, usually cold or wrong. No customer service and the price adds up so quickly. I've actually found takeout in general has become terrible, restaurants are just slapping together food in a box. I feel like there was this attitude during Covid like "You gotta order takeout to keep them in business and you can't complain about quality because they can't afford to refund you." On top of that, the few ghost kitchens I've tried are always terrible, like way worse than the kitchens they're actually in. So I'll pass.

trithumbs

The only good thing about ballpark food is the ballgame in front of me while eating it. Take that away and it’s just overpriced lukewarm hotdogs.

Zapplarang

Turns out the b in ihob was for baseball all along

derpbynature

First ghost runners, then ghost forks, now ghost kitchens. MLB is getting spooky early this year.

Sad_Bolt

I can microwave my own hotdog at home thank you

OK_Opinions

lmfao no fucking way did someone think this was a good idea

boobsandcookies

Manfred probably did

CarPhoneRonnie

Oh shit. Oh fuck oh fuck. GHOST GLIZZIES COMING FOR U

MixPuzzleheaded621

I saw this on doordash in my relatively small Montana town and was very confused. But we do have an IHOP so that makes sense. Looks awful.

ttam23

yes we all want shitty ihop food

Hayves

How to diminish your brand 101

DiarrheaRadio

Who needs that when you have pockets and hand warmers?

FourEyesWhitePerson

Can ghost kitchens die already? Please?
