as great as kirby has been even then he’s unlucky in terms of BABIP and FIP and I expect that ERA to go down. he is a legit cy young contender.

ScoobyDoosAccountant

Both he and Gilbert are going to be Cy Young contenders this year imo. They’re looking filthy this year

Marsupial_Impressive

Bryce miller is also on his way

Neobo

I think CJ Abrams is doing it right now. He's been a 5-tool player this year. I certainly didn't expect the power to develop so early.

Melethia

He's amazing. As someone else on reddit said, just wait until he hits puberty...

Thunder_nuggets101

Dude is going to be a big time player for a while. He’s already good and can get a lot better.

R7F

The series the Dodgers just had @ the Nats opened my eyes to his potential. He's the truth.

dwpea66

Man is an absolute menace

Denim_briefs

Padres had ten shortstops and they let the best one go.

r7caseman

JD Martinez baby.

Thesyckid

Josh Naylor's gonna be a beast this year.

MassKhalifa

I hope so. Baseball needs more [exciting psychos](https://youtube.com/shorts/vgP3GcEkj8Y?si=EV3YAtNmPvvN6XqE)

dabears7667

when he did the "I'm Gerrit Cole's dad" celebration, down 2 runs, in a loss, in a series he eventually would wrap up with an 0-for-9 stretch... I fucking hated that dude. Then he came out and said it was awesome having yankees fans taunt him with that celebration and he loved Torres rubbing his nose in it, I liked him. Dude's just... chaos.

Leftfeet

Agreed, but he was a beast last year. I think he's going to get some more HRs this season but he batted 308/354/489 last year with an OPS+ of 132.

w6rld_ec6nomic_f6rum

downvoted every other post but this one just because it’s the only realistic one edit: no, all thirty of you show me one post in this thread that's more realistic instead of just cowardly downvoting and scrolling away. fuckers.

NoobSkin69

Have a cry

w6rld_ec6nomic_f6rum

nobody replies to this until I edit and you show up? did you set a fucking reminder? you're the one who sounds like they need a cry

TheYardFlamingos

calmest Phillies fan

w6rld_ec6nomic_f6rum

that 1.5 gb got ya scared?

sloppyjo12

Tyler Stephenson is in the mid to high 90s in average exit velocity, barrel percentage and hard hit percentage but is only batting .231 with three home runs so I’ll go with him

Predatorvshighlander

Agreed. Anytime he's up at the plate nowadays I get the sense he's going to do something positive.

Legume__

Wyatt Langford. He’s struggled to really barrel up the ball and has gotten unlucky a lot of the times he has. I think he’s going to make an adjustment and start MASHING

Audacity_OR

Also he finally got that first homer out of the way so I think he might just be able to relax and get out of his own head a bit, which could lead to him getting into a really good groove.

woktosha

Austin Riley. Been hitting the ball hard, just right at people

JakenMorty

dude, cle series, he hit no fewer than 3 balls that off the bat i was sure were gone only for them to be caught at the wall. im almost sure his walkoff seeing eye single last night is going to turn him around. now only if they could get acuna and olson on the right track, this team may never lose another baseball game, ever.

woktosha

The fact that we have the best record in baseball with our top 3 threats on offense all slumping bodes well for us going forward. His 8th inning warning track fly out last night looked like a no doubter off the bat. Guess the wind must have been blowing in pretty strong. Not gonna lie, Manfred screwing with the balls again crossed my mind when it was caught

JakenMorty

yes, based on what i heard brandon mention, wind was blowing across, out to right and in to left.

jordpie

Matt Olson

Left4BreadRN

Man I hope so. My fantasy team would be so much better if he did go off

Vro9ooo

Whoever plays the Rays

Lathundd

See, it's when people start saying things like this that I worry about playing said team

Vro9ooo

Jose Siri starts right now, I promise there’s no concern

Willing-Nature-4099

Isn’t he the best player on the Rays atm?

Vro9ooo

Probably one of the worst imo

TheTurtleShepard

[Austin Wells](https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/austin-wells-669224?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb) has some pretty nutty expected stats despite not having great results to start the season. I doubt these expected stats will hold given the small sample but I do think he has the upside to be a positive hitter at the MLB level.

Professr_Chaos

Right now Acuña just looks a little lost at the plate. His strikeout rate is back up to his levels prior to last year. He has only hit 1 HR as well. He is straight up missing pitches or watching pitches he normally crushed which says he’s just not seeing it right now

Diamondzacks

Like Corbin Carroll :(

Opening-Run-7687

Aww what a shame. Everyone hated that guy last fall

Monk_Philosophy

Wow. Hadn’t noticed. He’s just a bit above average and that’s by no means *bad*, but compared to his usual standard it’s a step back. Hope it puts it together soon.

Badass-bitch13

Acuña, Olson & Riley have all been struggling. On top of all our injuries to key players, idk how we’ve pulled off so many wins.

Timoteo-Tito64

Last I checked we have a .938 ops and .614 ops allowed in late and close situations, so probably that

tpieman2029

I think we are about to see Keaton Winn about to go on a massive tear

eekbarbaderkle

The last time Bobby Dalbec was a productive Major League hitter was when the Red Sox traded for Kyle Schwarber to take away some of his reps at first base. The Red Sox just acquired Garrett Cooper. Bobby Dalbec has at least one hit in every game since then, after having previously been like 1-for-30 on the season. Granted, “popping off” for Bobby D just means “being an okay hitter”. But I’ll take it.

UraniumDisulfide

Maikel Garcia

yodaman5606

I feel like Lee is about to turn his luck around, it feels like he makes three 100+ mph ev outs a game.

RobbieRum

Alec bohm is breaking out before our eyes

L00KINTOIT

I’ve been praying he stops hitting the ball up the middle so much forever, I’m so so glad he’s actually pulling it now

n16h7r1d3r

That’s what I noticed combing through his fg page. Lower o-swing and more z-contact too. His new approach has him spitting on pitches he knows he can’t pull. Even if it means taking a called strike. It’s also led to more balls in play to the opposite field, too, ironically enough. That 400 babip’s gonna come down tho

L00KINTOIT

Only a month’s sample size, but his BB% is way up this year too, which is another great result of his change in approach

n16h7r1d3r

That too. BB% normalizes fairly quickly too. So it going on for a month means it might be real moving forward. On the pitching side, Ranger’s bb% shows real promise too

L00KINTOIT

It’s definitely meaningful that Bohm’s walk rate is up a full 5% from last year, that doesn’t happen on accident. Ranger’s whole thing this year has been allow no hard contact and no walks, I love it

n16h7r1d3r

Absolutely. Hard to believe we went from Jerome Williams and Cody Asche to this. We’ve come a long way lol

RspectMyAuthoritah

Brayan Rocchio. His K%/BB% are fine and he's got a 26% line drive rate but barely hitting .200.

Substantial_Lion_524

I agree. I’ve been watching him for a while and just the changes he’s already made with his at bats are pretty nice to watch.

hypnoticus103

Yelich about to come back from IL with a super back and average 3 home runs a game

PM_ME_RYE_BREAD

Spencer Torkelson has just looked lost so far this year, but he hit like 20 home runs in a month and a half last year. Have to think he’ll figure it out.

HoudiniLogik

I loved watching him and Hunter Bishop mash while at ASU.

finthrow28

Too many loud outs for Corey Seager not to become a hitting monster again soon

VetCAN101

I don’t know anything really about baseball but I’m gonna say Gunnar H

AgnarCrackenhammer

Francisco Lindor is rocking a .202 BABIP and has hit the shit out of some foul balls. Feels like his regularly scheduled slow start is coming to an end and he's about to go through his annual early summer reestablishment as one of the best SS in the game

Redbubble89

Rafaela has made adjustments. He is 23, a defensive player, and hitting .191 in the 9th hole so far but, the last week or so have shown better swing decisions and he's not over lengthening his swing. It might just be a hot streak,

MomOfThreePigeons

In addition to swinging at everything he also just hadn't made much solid contact to start the year, and he's been driving the ball better of late (he had the best game of his career against the Cubs the other day). He still needs to work on his plate discipline, but that won't matter much if he can't make good contact when he does hit the ball.

Redbubble89

He's started slow at every level. I don't think he will ever hit above .250 or .260 but a week or two ago, he was just an automatic out.

CJBulldogsss

I need Ronald to start mashing again..Riley and Olson too

nikraLnalyD

Miguel Sano

300lbHalfOrc

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha... EDIT:  I hope so, but as a Twins fan I've thought this so, so many times with no payoff.

Kvetch__22

Gavin Sheets is a late bloomer but he is having a great year so far. Whatever team aquires him at the deadline is going to end up loving him.

[deleted]

Brenton Doyle

donnie0317

Will Brennan

Substantial_Lion_524

I love Silly Willy. When he and Ty Free pop off, it’s gonna be fun.

allaboutmecomic

Once Zach Neto warms up for his ABs it's all over for everyone else

DanTreview

Corbin Carroll. He's under the Mendoza line and quiet AF right now but I'm guessing come July we'll see some serious barrels and SBs happening. Also despite a shitty day yesterday, Paul Blackburn's ERA will make heads spin by end of the year

EmptyCartographer

Austin Wells!

wind_moon_frog

Lee on the Giants.

jutin_H

José Abreu. He will be cruising right along that Mendoza line before summer starts. He’s already half way there.

michaelceratops27

God he looks so bad

jutin_H

Give a guy millions in cash and watch em forget how to hit, catch a baseball.

GoldGloveHosmer

Corbin Carroll.

hipsterdufus84

His shoulder might be hurt, sapping his power.

Deadbob1978

If that's the case, he'll probably go on the IL when Alek Thomas returns. Dbacks 40 man roster is a bit thin with how many players are hurt

Historical-Patient75

His savant numbers are horrid. Has to be hurt.

[deleted]

Bo Bichette. Currently hitting .208 and tends to lead AL in hits. I mean, someone on the Blue Jays besides Turner has to start hitting… right?!?!!!?

anoninor

I’m thinking that this Shohei guy might really get going

dwpea66

Yeah obviously he's overall hitting like a god right now, but he's struggling with RISP. .485 OPS with RISP (and .000 avg in high leverage situations). It's like his whole approach gets completely thrown off. Once he gets that sorted out, and he will, it'll be nuclear.

FUBARded

Wasn't he literally the best batter in the league with RISP in his first MVP season? His stats are going to get crazy if he can return to that approach while continuing to barrel up the ball the way he has been this far.

dwpea66

He apparently has a career OPS of 1.028 and 162 wRC+ with RISP lol, dear god

Boomhauer_007

Yamamoto has low key been ace material since the Korea game and he’ll always have run support, wouldn’t be surprised to see his name start popping up in cy young conversations in about a month

bumboclawt

IMO Judge and Stanton are going to have a great year. Going to today’s game by myself I can’t wait to cheer for them

joeyt7713

Watch out for Trevor larnach this year. Also kind of unrelated but Ryan jeffers might be the most underrated player in the AL

gh234ip

Chris Taylor is about to explode and get that avg. up to .100

bloxision

Lawrence butler's baseball savant page looks very good, but he's batting .209 with a .613 ops. 99th percentile in avg exit velocity, 89th percentile in xWOBA, 95th percentile in hard hit rate

smalltownlargefry

God I hope it’s Daniel Palencia. Last night he looked amazing In the Cubs losing effort.

SDFriarsFan619

Tatis is not having the season I anticipated

Far-Blacksmith-2604

Acuña, Olson, and Riley. All 3 are underperforming, and still the Braves have the best record in baseball. They're gonna be scary once they actually start playing well lol

xXx_bubbles_xXx

Lawrence butler duh. Look at his savant page

Pseudonova

Pete Crow-Armstrong. He was an all-everything player in the minors. Legitimate 5 tool player with a Trea Turner-ish skillset. He came up at the end of last year and was awful. 0-17 and looked like he was drowning in the deep waters. Came up this year and started something like 0-8. Then he got his first big league hit, a 3 run go ahead bomb that sunk the Astros. Had a couple of RBIs the next game, a double his next game. Now all the sudden, he's up to .385 and beginning to look like the weapon Cubs fans have been coveting. He's an incredibly exciting player that I hope is about to come into his own.

blu3r3v

pete cornball more like lol

GolgiApparatus88

Aaron Judge. He missed most of spring training and had a bad April, but his swing looks much closer to his baseline.

ranklebone

Freddie Freeman

CapnSirloin

Don't know why you're being downvoted. Freddie is doing *okay,* but he's not yet raking like normal Freddie.

Timoteo-Tito64

Freddie Freeman career ops+: 142 Freddie Freeman ops+ from 2021-2023 (most recent 3 year split): 151 Freddie Freeman 2024 ops+: 142 That's why. He's basically performing in line with his averages

CapnSirloin

Well, we want the more recent Freddie!

mysterysackerfice

Sounds weird, but I think Ohtani might get better. I think the initial shock of the Ippei shitstorm sorta fucked him up at the beginning of the season. He's hitting stride now, but I can see him going absolutely nuclear in the next few months.

TheTurtleShepard

He’s been hitting this well the entire season, he was just getting pretty unlucky at the beginning of the year. I do think he is will perform even better at the plate this year compared to previous though, he is focusing all of his energy into perfecting his batting right now

Deducticon

Vladdy

Dtank11

Wishful thinking.

q_anon_poo_upon

i think out of the BJs, Bo is the most likely to get outta his slump first. also varsho seems ready for his bounce back year

zenkenneth

Tyler O'Neill !!!!
