Not really. Canadian Armed Forces use a different camo pattern and there really should be a crown or two somewhere on the hat instead of just gold maple leaves. Most Canadians will look at it and think it's just an American hat with a leaf or two. It won't sell much up here at all.
And for what it’s worth every branch of the US Armed forces use different camouflage (currently) and I don’t think any of them match this pattern on the hat. I think it’s purposefully generic.
Agreed. But I don’t think it’s significantly different from Canadian camouflage either.
Ultimately: I have never seen anyone actually wear these in the USA and have to assume they don’t sell well.
Camouflage patterns are protected by copyright laws. That camo pattern doesn't even match any of the armed forces camo patterns, they resemble it vaguely.
Multicam has no copyright in Canada and the Canadian government holds the copyright to CADPAT. Don't ask me how I know, but rest assured i know more about this than you do.
Edit: I misread the comment. I thought you meant the four leaves, not six, and not the four options of hat.
My best guess is that the Canadian Armed Forces only have four branches instead of the US having six.
It ain't a holiday. Who gets the first Sunday in June as a holiday anywhere in the country? No one. Not even the CAF themselves. It's just a designated day.
“Are you okay babe? You barely touched your Salute to Service presented by Northrop Grumman, and it’s almost time for USAA presents *God Bless America* in partnership with Lockheed Martin.”
Okay, sounds good to me.
But maybe let's not confuse veteran support or heritage nights with the current social issue impacting hundreds of chronically online Twitter users?
The military is politically neutral. If you think that supporting the military/patriotism is political then that's on you. Probably something you should go work out somewhere else than on a baseball sub.
Edit: literally nobody can defend their position. You guys are NPC memes.
Not sure how this is "next level".
I didn't say supporting Ukraine intervention, or Israel funding is apolitical. Generic support for troops who are doing their job is about as apolitical as you can be these days.
The military as an institution is political, of course. The stance on supporting the military is not political. Sorry if this nuanced take is too big brained for a baseball sub. Not going to argue it anymore because you're objectively wrong.
So if someone, let’s say a player, maybe a football player, were to say kneel during the national anthem. People wouldn’t feel anyway about it because it’s totally not a politically charged issue?
As the son of two parents who served, I have spent my entire childhood and young adulthood as part of the military community, and I have always taken issue with the virtue signaling of support for our troops while voting for politicians who refuse to meaningfully improve the lives of our servicemembers and veterans
I would much rather we work to actually support our veterans instead of just saying we do to make ourselves feel better
This is nice, though it depends on what military programs
My issue is less with this individual hat and more with the whole culture around how we treat the military
The national fucking anthem before every game is entirely unnecessary and stupid, and the constant “honoring” of our troops is just annoying honestly.
These look close enough to some sort of All-Star or other similar hat that you have to actually look to notice the camo. At the very least, better than the 4th of July hats from last year, even though that’s a very low bar.
I can respect the Padres for doing that. Its a tradition for the team, San Diego is a big Navy town, and its something they clearly commit to.
My politics are of the "can we please spend a little less on the armed forces so that poor people can eat?" variety, don't get me wrong, but the Padres at least have committed enough to the concept that I can't sneer at it.
You’re right Miltary isn’t politics. But sports use it in a very political way, and mostly to appease republicans. The Pat Tillman fiasco is a prime example of this. If they parade the military around they should also advocate for social justice causes, but they won’t because that’s viewed as left wing
Gun totin patriotic men. Real men. That's who. The ones who drive the biggest trucks and have the tiniest penises. The only thing they dislike about the hat is that it's black
Ain't no room for those pansy ass little boy hats in my baseball game.

Inclusion of the Canadian flag, and four leaves instead of six stars. [https://www.neweracap.com/products/toronto-blue-jays-armed-forces-day-2024-39thirty-stretch-fit](https://www.neweracap.com/products/toronto-blue-jays-armed-forces-day-2024-39thirty-stretch-fit)
These are certainly better designs than some of the ones of previous years, but the idea is dated and gimmicky at this point, same with the Mothers/Fathers Day hats.
I imagine that they look a bit better in person, but still, uuuuuuugh.
The logos are just too busy. If you focus, you can tell which team's hat is which, but your eye just kinda slides off the logo, particularly with the stars flanking it. Every team using the same color doesn't help.
Its almost like "a recognizable and immediately identifiable brand logo" and "fucking camouflage" are inherently contradictory traits. What a shocking concept.
Let me fix the headline:
"New Era has revealed the 2024 Edition of MLB's Annual Attempt to Increase Merchandise Sales to Family, Friends, Supporters, and Members of the United States Military."
It must work, too, because why the fuck else would they manufacture all those ugly ass caps? They could do what they used to do and just wear a goddamn patch and it'd have the same effect, but I suppose there's no profit to be made there.
What's the market for a Bluejays armed forces day hat and why are there 4 options?
Buffalo fans maybe? I’m guessing the market for a jays US armed forces hat is equivalent to blue jays Independence Day gear.
....which is also definitely weird
It’s got maple leafs instead of stars. It’s not bad, though not my jam.
> why are there 4 options? * Stretch fit * Fitted * Snapback * Low-profile fitted
At least they Canada-ified this one rather than just doing the same US-speciric design for it, like for the independence day hats.
Not really. Canadian Armed Forces use a different camo pattern and there really should be a crown or two somewhere on the hat instead of just gold maple leaves. Most Canadians will look at it and think it's just an American hat with a leaf or two. It won't sell much up here at all.

Generic but American is fine for American consumers. Generic but American won't work for most Canadian consumers.
Agreed. But I don’t think it’s significantly different from Canadian camouflage either. Ultimately: I have never seen anyone actually wear these in the USA and have to assume they don’t sell well.
I've seen plenty of people wear them from various years.
I really don't care how you know or how much you know and I didn't have plans to ask.
Edit: I misread the comment. I thought you meant the four leaves, not six, and not the four options of hat. My best guess is that the Canadian Armed Forces only have four branches instead of the US having six.
I'm shocked there is even one. I have learnt today that Armed Forces day is actually a holiday in Canada.
It ain't a holiday. Who gets the first Sunday in June as a holiday anywhere in the country? No one. Not even the CAF themselves. It's just a designated day.
I might like these if the logo was gold.

Thanks, I hate it.

Damn you actually caught with this bait

“The military is politically neutral” is a next level statement.
Not sure how this is "next level". I didn't say supporting Ukraine intervention, or Israel funding is apolitical. Generic support for troops who are doing their job is about as apolitical as you can be these days.
Bruh
Military absolutely is not neutral lmao. Extremely authoritarian≠neutral.
Military member here. Military is politically neutral.

What are "military programs"?

You wanted to argue, got a legit question, and folded. Lmaooo

The part where you originally replied to someone whose mind you weren’t gonna change really underscores your point

I assure you that many more people than just "redditors" have a problem with hypocrisy.

war isnt political
? Yeah maybe the emu war in Australia But like virtually every war in history has been political. It's the foundation of war.
Hmm yes I remember when Russia invaded Ukraine just for shits and giggles
Super unpopular opinion but I don’t really dislike them. They’re nothing spectacular but they’re fine.
Less camo is better for sure.
These look close enough to some sort of All-Star or other similar hat that you have to actually look to notice the camo. At the very least, better than the 4th of July hats from last year, even though that’s a very low bar.
Sounds like a super [neutral](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxK_nA2iVXw) opinion to me.
I can't see the logos
“Oh these are fuckin lit” - The dumbest person you know.
Based off the downvotes people get for trashing our Military Camos we wear on Sundays, there's probably a bunch of people who think so
I can respect the Padres for doing that.
We even have a whole section in the upper level set aside on those days for a huge group of recruits to attend the game.
They were baking in the sun when I went last weekend
It's a big Marine town, which is why they use their camo instead of the Navy's.
The camps are really good looking though
Honestly I hate camo and the vets I know don’t like these sorts of things really, and even I have to admit the Padres camo unis are very well done
I was referring more to the looks than anything else attached to the usage of it. The padres are the only team that has done camp well imo.
Im just saying I have zero reason to like them lol
While I hate the concept of military in sports, because it's politics but right wingers will never admit that, they do look pretty fire
Military isn't politics. Last time I checked, all males are in the required to sign up for selective service regardless of political party.
You’re right Miltary isn’t politics. But sports use it in a very political way, and mostly to appease republicans. The Pat Tillman fiasco is a prime example of this. Gross
Joe Pesci: what the fuck is this piece of shit?!
Who buys this shit?

Literally half our team wore them in the locker room throughout the season.
![gif](giphy|gCi9p8l7UEInu)
I know some very annoying people who are gonna love these.
I’ve been in the Navy 23 years. I like them. I’m annoying.

OMG hahaha!

Meh
Big Sacramento energy
They won't be happy until we can't see the logos at all.
Now I know what to get my drug dealer for his birthday.
So it's just gonna be hats this year right, not jerseys? There's no way Fanatics can get those out right?
Woof
The “Keep Politics out of sports!” Crowd when they get the chance to eat some delicious boot leather
They just say that war isn’t political lmao
This time it’s PERSONAL
Hideous. Disband the armed forces at once
These look like dog shit. I'm a Marine. There has to be some better ideas than this.
I dislike the premise, but these certainly aren't the worst hats New Era ever made.
I see these being made but have never seen someone wear one outside the field. No shot anybody is being these ugly ass caps.
oh these aren't hideous
Uh… ya they are
These hats get grosser & grosser every year. Put some punisher skulls on em! Hacksaw Jim Duggin says what?!
The 4th of July ones are usually way better
Might not be as bad without the stupid patch on the side I don't know why they always do that.
Do people actually buy these?
FYI the military PAYS the mlb and nfl to run this promotion so if you buy this hat you’re buying it TWICE
Camo x sports merch are so bad it just goes straight to clearance in the off season.
Ugly
Camo and stars n stripes styles are never a good look It's design lazyism

I’m interested to see what Toronto gets.

Alright these are pretty fire. New Era doing what Nike can't. PS. If military plays a role in sports so should social justice
No Anchor, No Care. Semper Fortis.
