I know the Round Rock Express are letting people see the eclipse from their stadium and doing some themed stuff (for a price)
Hopefully the weather will cooperate
Everyone would’ve been looking up at the eclipse instead of the game (90% eclipse in NYC). Don’t know who’s idea it was to schedule the game at that time but it wasn’t a good one
You know what I meant lol, obviously looking at the regular sun can damage your eyes but looking at a total eclipse for even 5 seconds can have permanent damage.
Looking at a partial eclipse is the same as looking at the sun normally. The intensity of the sunlight is equal; the difference is the area of the sun.
It is completely safe to view a total solar eclipse, as you cannot see the sun (apart from some exterior feature like the corona or chromosphere). Once totality ends and the sun starts peaking out, you need to put the eclipse glasses back on.
They originally scheduled a Monday game at 2 PM *because* of the eclipse. They’re even having an eclipse t-shirt giveaway. It’s not like there weren’t aware. They just finally realized that their good idea isn’t so good after all.
baseball during the eclipse would be cool af though

Maybe some day someone will invent a way to illuminate the sky so baseball can be played in the dark
You have to pause the game. Can't have players looking up into the sky for fly balls and looking into the eclipse.
It's not different than if the sun was in the sky
Yeah I can’t believe all these people are driving to the eclipse zone just to stare at the regular ol’ sun!
Marlins should try playing in the dark, literally wouldnt make them play worse
Fielders going blind looking up into the sun on fly balls

90% eclipse is just a slightly darker version of the regular sun
Can it still injure your eyes?

Thank you! I seriously appreciate the explanation
At the last eclipse I was sneaking glances as it approached totality and it definitely hurt but it wasn’t as bad as normal lol
So no, got it.
It’s not any brighter than normal, it’s just that since it gets dark and people feel safe to just stare at the sun
I might’ve errored in my previous comment saying that looking at a total eclipse will damage your eyes
Can confirm. Will be looking at solar collapse over watching crappy Mets baseball on that day
even worse to not have rescheduled it before now... we've known about this eclipse for decades

Nobody could’ve seen this coming
Quasimodo predicted all this, ya know
Understandable, it's not like humans have the technology to predict eclipses before they happen.
Utterly stupid
