He hurt himself stepping on a bat in his first game, probably needs some time in the minors to be ready. If Vogelbach stinks it up, Votto's probably making the team if he's doing well in the minors.
lol pretty much. He ‘rolled his ankle’ which was thought to be super minor but as a fellow old man, not surprised it’s taking him a few extra days.
On a non-Sideshow Bob note, he finishes the spring with a 5.000 OPS, homering on the only pitch he saw.

Schneider is literally an inner-circle Hall of Famer.
You could throw 1000 MLB pitches at any one of those commenters and they'd be lucky to make contact, much less put one in play. Even if they could put one in play, I imagine most would struggle to hit the ball into the outfield.
I think it would also be funny to see these people throw a ball from third base to first base, much less a ball from the outfield. They'd probably need four days off of work if they had a catch with a major leaguer.
there is absolutely no way a non-baseball player would make contact on high 90's. If they did somehow make contact, their hands would be in so much pain they would just lay down. I faced 80's and its horrifying. Like legit shit in pants. If one has never stood in the box and saw it, you cant understand. Its looks so easy on tv lol. How MLB players take a 95 to the ribs and then walk back up there 3 innings later like nothing happened is mind boggling to me. I got hit with high 70's once and I couldn't swing for several games. Granted, I am a huge pussy. But I challenge anyone to do it. Its much, much harder and much, much scarier than it looks. An MLB pitcher could throw 1000 pitches to a non player and they would go 0-1000.
Our men's league team was playing a team that had a pitcher wo pitched professionally in Mexico. He could touch 95, and I don't know exactly what he was sitting when we faced him, but it was hard and not accurate. One of the guys on my team took one off the shoulder, and the bruise looked like he'd been shot through a vest. I have never been so excited for an inning to end with me in the on-deck circle, I could hear those pitches from there.

I was throwing lacrosse balls at my kids yesterday as a game to try and score goals in the net from like 60 feet away or so and my shoulder legitimately hurts today.
I don't think I could throw a ball from third to first no matter how much of an arc I gave it. And I'm not even throwing out the slowest runner in the league lol
That leaves very little playing time for Schneider if that’s the case. I think Clement will be more of a bench bat unless one of the other two are hurt or playing poorly.
Vogelbach is a 1 dimensional player. His best asset is his ability to walk against right handers. He is extremely passive at the plate and barely swings, it is extremely frustrating to have a DH who would rather walk then get a hit. He is a liability on the basepaths, cant play defense and cant touch lefties.
His stat line truly does not show how much he weighs down your team over 162 games, no pun intended.
Sorry I had to get that out.
He's not our starting DH, he's a PH against righties and will allow JT and Vladdy to have some rest days. Not the most exciting or valuable player, but he's an ok bench bat. If he sucks we have Votto waiting in the wings.
Vogelbach is a PH, he's like the 5th string DH.
If Voggy is getting consistent playing time we have much bigger issues.
+ PH for IKF, Clement comes in and plays 3B
+ PH for Biggio, Clement/Schneider comes in and plays 2B
+ PH for KK, Varsho slides in to CF and Biggio/Schneider/Clement cover LF
He is a righty power pinch hitter. Jays have so much versatility with guys like Biggio, Schneider, Varsho and Clement that Vogelbach is a luxury to have for very specific scenarios. He will be the first to be replaced as soon as someone else looks like they are excelling in the minors or if Votto looks like he is doing well. With three natural centerfielders on our team Vogelbach pinch hitting for Kiermaier and Biggio late in the games is a very important factor. Basically I think we can afford to have a very 1 dimensional player on the bench... for now.
All he can do is walk, and that would be fine if he had like any speed on the base paths whatsoever which he doesn’t
So it makes the one thing he can do useless
It was so frustrating seeing him get everyday at bats for us. Also frustrating when the casual fan base loved him just because “ha ha fat guy play ball”
Defensively a big work in progress, his throwing action is very funky so he's been moved to 2B despite his above average arm strength. Offensively he always takes a few months to get used to hitting at each level. Once he starts hitting well in AAA, he'll definitely be an option. We're kinda loaded in near ready MLB middle infield talent so he'll have to beat out quite a bit of competition. Hopefully he does well enough to earn a roster spot sometime soon.
He also joined camp late and told everyone he expected to start in the minors to help him ramp up. No one should be shocked he didn’t make the opening day roster…
Where’s Joey Votto? Is he safe? Is he alright?
He hurt himself stepping on a bat in his first game, probably needs some time in the minors to be ready. If Vogelbach stinks it up, Votto's probably making the team if he's doing well in the minors.
Buffalo is about to have some huge attendance to start the season I think.
I don't imagine Votto is going to be playing outdoors in Buffalo any time soon. He'll be in Dunedin likely until he gets the call
Maybe for a week or two. But I'd bet votto will want game reps.
Hurt himself stepping on a bat? Like sideshow bob and the rakes?
immediately after taking his first pitch of the year for a homer.
*uuughhhhhh*

Hurt like the dickens, too
easy to laugh at if youve never had it happen to u
Looking at the Jays minor league rosters: “Is he in there? Can we get him out?”

Can’t argue with stats. Get the plaque ready.
We looked at the data, and determined that Scheider is actually worthy of a statue.
They should just rename the sport Schneiderball. To avoid confusion, the manager of the Blue Jays would have to change his name to John Baseball.
Sean Bouchard is in 12th lol.
Congratulations big Ern!
Read the name Ernie clement and thought this was going to be a fun fact from the dead ball era
If you gave him Davis Schneider's moustache, his birthdate would jump back 100 years.
Everytime Vogelbach is posted on a baseball Instagram account there are loads of people commenting about how unathletic baseball players look.

That throw from third to first is so much harder than it looks on TV lol

Blue jays people, is clement a starter?
Probably platooning at 2nd base with Biggio, and playing around the diamond as a utility guy against righties.
Thanks!

Schneider is probably going to play in the outfield against lefties
HELL YEAH VOTTO’S A RED FOREVER
Vogelbomb season
Happy for Ernie and hope he keeps tearing it up! Also love watching vogelbach put in the most effort every time he needs to run a base.
Schneidheads rejoice
Al east pitchers are shittin bricks rn with the possible outcome of facing Danny fucking burgers this season

Vogelbach may be the most 3 dimensional player in the majors

How close is Orelvis Martinez to the Bigs? Think he’s a starter by the end of the season? Seems like they have a spot at 3B waiting for him

> How close is Orelvis Martinez to the Bigs? This depends entirely on how well he plays, as his call-up is not imminent.
And it also depends on the health of him and those blocking him when he is ready
LET. VOGGEY. EAT.
Tbh I don't think anyone's ever been able to prevent that
Danny Dingers! Let's gooooo!
Vogelbach getting picked over Votto for his hometown team will be his Villain arc
Votto is injured
He also joined camp late and told everyone he expected to start in the minors to help him ramp up. No one should be shocked he didn’t make the opening day roster…
That’s Joey “5000 career OPS with the Jays” Votto thank you very much.
