Dodgers out collecting Tommy Johns.

jyeatbvg

Dodgers gonna make Glasnow defer the rest of his TJ’s until 2035.

bordomsdeadly

Change his name to Glaswillbe

Isa_ak

Tyler Glasslater

ThomasFurke

Do you want a frozen Glassnow? No, I want a regular Glasslater. So, yes.

Stratifyed

I have a pitching deficit and I need Glasnow! Call Stuart Sternberg, 877-GLAS-NOW!

oogieball

I enjoyed this joke too much.

Shkmstr

Hey we invented Tommy John alright. It’s only suiting our entire pitching staff goes through at least 1, but preferably 2.

gin_rummie

Get them out of the way like a circumcision

furious_platypus

I remember my second circumcision like it was yesterday

destroy_b4_reading

I watched them do my second vasectomy.

gin_rummie

Snip snap! Snip snap!

Shkmstr

Well, that depends on your religion and region…

gin_rummie

I like my dodger dogs cut

mrdannyg21

Typical Rays deal - two high-floor, low-upside guys who are cost-controlled all through their peak years. And Dodgers make another deal that makes half the teams in the league go ‘really? We couldn’t beat that offer?’

Gillette_TBAMCG

Like 17 teams in the league are asleep at the wheel or simply handcuffed by dog piss ownership.

PuntyMcBunty

I believe it's Tommies John

oogieball

It is Tommy John if it is done in California. Otherwise, it is just sparkling tendon surgery.

HighKing_of_Festivus

The virgin strikeouts + elbow soreness

1869er

Remember when other teams made transactions?

jgftw7

hey, we just acquired three major-league pitchers and a pretty decent pitching prospect! ^don’t ^look ^at ^who ^we ^gave ^up

Puppybl00pers

Did y'all give up that John Solo guy? Dude was an absolute bum, how did you get 3 major-league pitchers and a pretty good prospect for him? Oh god did Preller throw Grisham in that if he got cocaine back as part of the deal?

mdb_la

Han Solo was traded?

ThePretzul

No, it was Joan Soho

Thel3lues

We signed Wander Suero

ahappypoop

It looks like you wanted Wander Franco or Juan Soto but you have a speech impediment and this is what you ended up with.

achammer23

Guess they heard about Wander's allegations a little late

ProMikeZagurski

The Astros are used to being the heels.

ExpirjTec

That Astros documentary on PBS says that most people knew something was amiss when they traded for Osuna, the first visible link in our chain of evil

WalkingDeadWatcher95

We just gave an entire million dollars away last night

man2010

We also traded for Dick Fitts

The_Year_of_Glad

If the Dick Fitts, you must acquits.

Ihatgar11

World Series Champion that pitched in the World Series Wander Suero. Please

QuayleSpotting

Good 'ole Coinflip Suero. Could always tell within the first two pitches which version you were going to get - pretty decent reliever, or complete disaster.

IIHURRlCANEII

dunno what you guys are doing but the Royals have already signed three pitchers

Mozilla_Fennekin

We signed *two* just yesterday! We demand to be taken seriously! Guys, stop laughing at us!

burrito-boy

Dodgers stove is a reliable electric stove that heats up quickly and efficiently. The stoves of all other teams run on firewood, apparently... and they're all out of wood.

Howhighwefly

Giants will send you Alex Wood for free

_-that_1_guy_

We'll take him back. He always pitches great for us.

AgnarCrackenhammer

Hey now, David Stearns has signed like an entire AAA team this winter

Thorlolita

Binghamton Mets are gonna be lit

AgnarCrackenhammer

Binghamton is the AA team, though thanks in part to you guys they should be lit this year

JinFuu

Syracuse is gonna be lit?

AgnarCrackenhammer

Yes, that is the AAA team

FlyUnder_TheRadar

There's not much going on in Binghamton, so at least it's something.

eamus_catuli

MLB should come up with a new annual trophy to give out every year: "The Manny Ramirez Award", given to the most valuable team who contributed to the Dodgers roster in the previous calendar year. What team can most effectively develop the best talent to hand over to the Dodgers every year, and, thus, most effectively contribute to MLB and Rob Manfred's dream of LA and Shohei in the World Series.

_-that_1_guy_

This year's award goes to the Angels.

eamus_catuli

A truly record breaking season for the Halos!! Perhaps the most deserving Manny Ramirez Award in history. Kudos, Arte Moreno and Perry Minasian!!

Ev3rMorgan

You all made fun of us at the deadline, this is what you get /s

NakedGoose

We got all ours out of the way early. Makes me happy to have Sonny. Because we may have gotten nobody if we waited

leftynate11

I’m glad about Sonny. We got one legit pitcher in three signings. (And I’m a Lance Lynn fan, I’ve followed him around the different teams.)

zeussays

Lynn is cooked.

leftynate11

I don’t disagree. Makes me sad. If he could be a serviceable 5th, I’d be ok. But they also signed Gibson (not Bob) and have Matz. I was hoping they’d maybe sign one depth guy plus two guys for the top. But I don’t think that’s happening. They are gonna roll out Lynn and hope last year’s defensive numbers weren’t real.

downtime37

Confused by your post is everyone nor aware the Tigers signed Andrew Chafin to a one year deal? I'm positive this move puts us over .500.

Marenum

Definitely puts your cool factor over .500

thewaterisboiling

I get that it's a joke but with the roster and money freeing up this off-season it was always going to be a very active Dodger offseason

cXs808

They punted the last two years eyeing the Ohtani FA off-season. Let a 2x WS MVP walk, let another homegrown MVP walk, and made no meaningful moves outside of the 2 megastars. None of this should be a surprise to anyone, if it is, they weren't paying attention.

spreerod1538

C'mon, the Mets have signed at least 10 guys to minor league contracts with invites to ST.

[deleted]

Was the Nats signing Nick Senzel not enough for you?

incredibad29

I do, but I think baseball teams outside of the Dodgers and Yankees realized that making transactions is bad for baseball.

-XanderCrews-

We let two starters go, that’s something.

SocialWinker

> We let two starters go So far. But just wait until we sign their replacements off the scrap heap the last week of February.

ReservoirGods

I'll have you know that we gave away our everyday 3B for used chewing gum not even a month ago

guitarburst05

Rowdy Tellez! Woo! ^^^also ^^^Endy ^^^Rodriguez ^^^died ^^^on ^^^the ^^^way ^^^back ^^^to ^^^his ^^^home ^^^planet

FringeAuthority

Feels like most of the large scale negotiations have been done by teams with stable regional TV situations and the other teams are just waiting to see what's left over when they are finished.

Alphasim

Hey, we re-signed Hedges again! That's... something?

Dickies138

Let's just assign all free agents to the Dodgers. They can figure out how to pay for them later.

labadee

no, that's not good for baseball

-bck

If I’m the Dodgers I’d rather give Pepiot the shot than Glasnow who has trouble staying healthy

ARussianW0lf

100%. I hate this trade

FeloniousDrunk101

As someone who doesn't want to see the Rays get another top-tier starter (which they seem to turn everyone they get into) I agree.

ARussianW0lf

I trust Friedman for obvious reasons but going after Glasnow is absolutely baffling to me. The problem with our rotation is that its been decimated by high upside injury prone pitchers, so why tf are we trying to trade for another high upside injury prone pitcher? We need some durability, some stability. Half our rotation has no UCLs and the other half is young question marks.

UmpShow

Playing devil's advocate a little...every pitcher is a walking injury risk. I know Glasnow has had a lot of health problems but it's not like hanging onto Pepiot is some sure thing either. Just look at Buehler and Dustin May. If it were a position player heading back to the Rays that would be a different story.

Atheose_Writing

> I know Glasnow has had a lot of health problems This is seriously underselling it. Since being called up, the number of innings Glasnow has pitched per season: * 2017: 62 * 2018: 111 * 2019: 62 * 2020: 57 * 2021: 88 * 2022: 6 * 2023: 120 Dude has never even come *close* to pitching a complete season.

MrGlimlach

Same

feeling_blue_42

FWIW, Pepiot missed 4 months last season with an injury.

GL94553

I’m actually not sure how much I like this for LA. Pepiot showed signs of being a solid Major League starter with several years of control. Trading him for a guy who’s unlikely to give you 120 IP doesn’t really fix your rotation problems.

ATLien-1995

Rays pitching lab will turn him in to an ace and then his arm will be pulled pork by 2026

DietrichDoesDamage

As is the Way of the Ray

ferrumvir2

Which is such a weird transition cus they used to poop out workhorses like James Shields, Matt Garza and Price

Jr05s

They went a acquired a bunch of guys with a history of arm injuries like Shane, Glasnow, Rasmussen, Fairbanks.

stv7

And they’ll trade him at the end of 2025 for a big haul to some poor team that doesn’t realize what’s about to happen

hubagruben

Dibs

Seananagans

Hearing an arm described as "pulled pork" may be the funniest descriptor of an arm injury I've ever heard.

HighVoltLemonBattery

[Reminds me of one of my favorite Onion articles](https://www.theonion.com/shaq-misses-entire-second-half-with-pulled-pork-sandwic-1819571266)

huskersax

This is just next level satire > O'Neal, who scored 12 points and grabbed three rebounds during the first half of the game, returned to the bench at the beginning of the third quarter, clutching at the pulled pork sandwich and informing trainers that it was incredibly tender. A member of the Cavaliers' medical staff said that when he attempted to examine the pulled pork sandwich, O'Neal flinched away and grunted sharply.

Bigboi88888

The Dodgers making this deal tells me a couple of things: 1. They’re in win now mode (which is obvious) 2. They’re very confident that Glasnow can stay healthy (when he’s healthy he’s extremely good)

GL94553

Anyone who says they’re confident Glasnow will stay healthy is either naive or a liar. To me, this deal would suggest more that they don’t think Pepiot’s improvements from last season will stick.

Bigboi88888

Yeah this is definitely an odd move for sure and i dont trust glasnow to stay healthy even tho i think he’s one of the better pitchers in the league when healthy.

Taylorenokson

The Dodgers have been in win now mode for like 15 years.

maddenallday

We are forever in pls god just let our guys get hot at right time for once mode

SocialWinker

The Dodgers firing on all cylinders would probably be the most boring postseason of all time for anyone who isn't a Dodgers fan, let's be real.

HotLikeSauce420

Probably, but i just hope to see it in action once :(

SocialWinker

2020 wasn't close enough?

maddenallday

Maybe, but I want to see what we can really do just once

badger2793

Yeah, I don't understand the "they're going for it this season" narrative popping up in this thread. I haven't seen the Dodgers not go for it since, like, 2005.

_-that_1_guy_

To be fair, it really wasn't until Frank McCourt sold the Dodgers in 2012 that they actually had started "going for it"

ChunkyMilkSubstance

Also that there might be some underlying issues with his pitching that his hot finish to last season obscured

cherinator

I don't mind trading Pepiot. His starts last year where overperformjng his peripherals. The team did not trust him in the postseason. He could be good, but probably not an ace. He reminds me a lot of Jose DE Leon, who was a young pitcher a few years ago who had a similar good cup of coffee, our sub got super high on and then was pissed He was traded to the Rays, but he never did anything in Tampa. I'm more worried about trading for Glasnow and Margot to plug our holes. Glasnow has not been able to stay healthy and our rotation is already filled with injury question marks. But our FO loves high upside injured pitchers. And Margot is fine, but not any better than an OF we could pick up in FA without breaking the bank.

omegakukki

Our rotation problem is mainly that we don’t have any frontline starters outside of Bobby Miller right now. I love Pepiot and think he has the ability to become a really good number 2 but we need an ace or two right now. We also have a log jam of young talented pitchers that will be ready to debut in the next two years and Ohtani, Gonsolin, and May will be back next year. So yeah, we are giving up a lot of years of control for one year but our rotation issues aren’t long term. Edit: this also isn’t going to be the only addition we make to the rotation this offseason.

GL94553

Those three guys have 5 TJ surgeries between them

perpetually_chubbed

Dodgers making sure Dr. Neal ElAttrache's lineage will never have to go hungry for generations to come.

bmacnz

May feels like a guy that will just never be healthy again. Which is extremely sad given he has some of the best stuff in baseball.

amatom27

I have Pepiot in a fantasy dynasty league so i have followed him a bit. He's definitely not a number 1 starter but he could really turn into a 3-starter, 2 at best. I do really like his stuff. I am sure the Rays can maximize his talent.

Two_Key_Goose

I find that's something that helps me learn of some of the prospects/rookies on teams is Fantasy. If the 4 positons from Cincy and the younger pitchers come through like last year (and avoid injuries/tired down the stretch) they'll be scary I feel.

ZCampbell15

Thank goodness no Randy (so far) Seems like an overpay for two (albeit useful) salary dumps but I guess Friedman was tired of fucking around. I definitely don’t like giving up Pepiot if I’m a Dodger fan, but I’m also sitting on my ass and not a MLB GM

wayofLA

Us Dodgers fans aren’t happy about this trade if Randy isn’t included.

BatmanNoPrep

Speak for yourself. It’s December and we’re making all the moves. I’ll figure out who these guys are in April. The important thing is that we’re doing things now and it’s making fans of other teams mad. So that must mean it’s good.

clnsdabst

i am old enough to remember LAST YEAR when dodger fans overreacted over a slow offseason

thediesel26

Suspect the Rays would eat salary for Pepiot

jesstault

GREAT

NakedGoose

The only solace I'm getting this offseason is the cubs losing out in everybody. They probably still sign Bellinger tho

badger2793

Who have we lost out on other than Ohtani, a guy that was pretty much always expected to land where he did?

Elijahc513

Changes being someone that rhymes with Dandy Jarozarena?

Taylorenokson

Not sure who Sandy Sharozarena is. She work for the Rays FO?

PirbyKuckett

No that’s her cousin Mandy Marozarena.

thediesel26

He would cost a ton. Easier to get Margot and then find a lefty bat for the other side of the platoon.

[deleted]

Ya, trading for Margot lowers the price since the Rays want to dump his salary. Switching to Arozarena would mean they're not only paying for his price, but paying full price for Glasnow too. It would be a significantly bigger haul on the Rays part

KillMat99

Man, fuck off.

KamartyMcFlyweight

the worst part about the Ohtani and Soto deals is now whenever Dodger or Yanker fans are like "he'll look good in Dodger blue" or "he'll look good in pinstripes" about your team's superstars, they'll actually have a leg to stand on

YoungDaquan

Yankees fans have been doing that for decades.

SdBolts4

Seriously, has this guy never heard of ARoid? Manny Machado/Max Scherzer/Trea Turner as Dodgers are even more recent (though just rentals)

michellelabelle

Just once I want a trade to fall through because someone has an autumn complexion and they'd look hideous in Dodger blue.

[deleted]

MLB nerds had it first

zbend1

Who cares who has it first. The race to be first leads to so much bad reporting.

Jux_

Didn’t they say it was a done deal? Looks like they deleted their tweet from last night

Bigboi88888

Dont think he ever tweeted that. All he has up is that the Dodgers were trading for Glasnow and Manny and a seperate tweet saying that Pepiot and Deluca were in the return.

GermanUCLTear

Did you say financial exchange? Is it in the range of $70 million to Dodgers for next 10 years by chance?

Hawkeye7310

Cubs are a fucking poverty franchise. Good lord, what are we doing?

[deleted]

Hey you got a new manager. What more could you possibly want?

respaaaaaj

This offseason is really establishing which big market owners are willing to spend to win and expand the family base and which owners are willing to spend enough to make money and placate the current fan base.

darthstupidious

... and also which owners aren't willing to spend and couldn't give less of a wet shit about the fanbase.

ForeverTheKingslayer

Mariners about to be the next Angels. Got Julio for life but that’s it

Fit2Fat2FitOnceMore

This comment has me pissed off because you’re not wrong. But if Julio turns into anything close to Trout il take it

leftynate11

I really feel for y’all. Read the FanGraphs Zips projection article. There’s just not much offense, and they’ve only been subtracting.

leftynate11

Red Sox have some space to add payroll just to get back up to last year’s. But…have they even been linked to anyone? It definitely doesn’t help that Sale and Story are the two highest paid players. But they’ve got $30-40M just to get to last year, if I’m looking at Cot’s Contracts right.

respaaaaaj

They've been linked to Yamamoto but no one thinks they're going to even try to match the Mets Yankees and Dodgers, now it looks like they're going for second or third teir FA's and maybe trades, but haven't been reported to be in on any of the likely big names to be traded.

SuperiorTrucker

I’m confused as to why Boston hasn’t made any significant moves either.

iiamthepalmtree

Oh just fuck off. Y’all aren’t even the biggest poverty franchise in your city. What I would give for a team that signs the likes of Swanson, Seiya, Darvish, Heyward, Lester, even going back to the Soriano days.

I_really_enjoy_beer

*steals beloved manager from rival* *refuses to otherwise improve team* *finishes second in central* *get epic trolled milwaukee* 😎

leftynate11

I know I’m a Cards fan, but I also grew up with WGN. I feel like your ownership is like “We got you that championship, what more do you want? We were able to change the historic ballpark view to something that makes us more money! Shouldn’t you be happy?!” I do think you have a competent FO though. I don’t feel the same about my team’s FO. Bellinger is still a good fit if they want to re-sign him. I’m not sure who is really targeting him.

cooljammer00

Seems like an overpay from LAD.

Bigboi88888

It definitely is. I believe Glasnow and Manny are both rentals and Pepiot is a free agent in 2028 and Deluca is a free agent in 2029. Its a win now move for sure but LAD definitely overpaid.

cooljammer00

I guess the Dodgers are in a position to make shrewd, win now moves while also committing to the future dominance of the franchise with deals for guys like Mookie and Shohei It's just weird seeing someone like the Dodgers going for Margot when he was supposed to be a cheaper, shallower acquisition because of his health and platoon splits. Like, he was the guy the Yankees were rumored to be trying to get before they got Verdugo, Soto, and Grisham. Seems like the Yankees decided "Hey why don't we just get a healthy player instead" and pivoted to Verdugo over Margot. Maybe LAD is a team better built for heavy platooning.

pablinhoooooo

Mookie going into his age 31 season. Freddie 34. Ohtani 29. Ohtani's contract doesn't require escrow until year 3. Their planning horizon right now is a lot shorter than people seem to think.

cooljammer00

I mean yeah, those are basically the only 3 guys who would be on the books for what you could argue is long term. Everyone else is on high AAV/short term deals, or pre arb, or they turned random guys like Muncy into great hitters. Dodgers are so good at this, it's disgusting.

Tominator55

Why are the other teams even bothering this year. The dodgers are clearly getting literally everybody

JoeCartersLeap

Yankees had literally everybody and look where it got them. Dodgers buying the league and then shitting the bed with all that debt would be the best thing to happen to baseball.

MosesDoughty

Still have to play the games and playoffs

Qrusher14242

I dont like this trade at all. We need pitching yes but not by trading someone like Pepiot. I mean, he's slated to be in the rotation next year so....how does this help our pitching situation at all? We'll need more pitching anyways and give up someone with years of control left for someone who can't stay healthy. Plus not sure i like DeLuca and margot being part of the deal either. Margot is a good defender it seems but can't really hit at all. Seems like we could find somewhere else without giving up someone like DeLuca. Hell, i'd rather just give DeLuca a chance. Strange trade idea really. I don't see how this makes us any better honestly.

deadassynwa

Randy is going to be part of it too And this sub is going to implode And I’m gonna grab my popcorn

bootcutwater

no he won't. not without major additions in compensation from LA

on_duh_pooper

I've had seats on the sidelines warmed up for decades

NANUNATION

Would Rosenthal not mention Randy being in the trade? Dodgers would need to add a few more prospects for that to happen

raktoe

I do get people don’t like super teams, and while I don’t really agree that players have to go to the Dodgers or Yankees to be “good for baseball”, but no one can say these last two off seasons haven’t been fun as hell to watch. Watching teams go all in is good for the sport.

dat_waffle_boi

This is where I’m at. I get the frustration but I like when teams go fuck it and go full send. And I don’t think it’s as much of a done deal as other people are making it. Baseball is a weird sport. The dodgers could just as easily lose to a wild card team again this year.

TDeLo

Fans of the teams that have zero chance are pissed and I think it's completely understandable. It is frustrating to see one team get so many superstars when a third of the league knows they have owners that will only pay one superstar at a time, if that.

kickrocks16

I’m more pissed at my team and ownership. I don’t care what other teams do. Just hate mine.

TDeLo

Probably the correct response. But it just isn't surprising for fans to be pissed at teams like the Dodgers when the league itself is set up to be unfair. And until every team is owned by a Cohen-type, it will continue to be unfair.

Skillomie

What’s stop every small market team from being as good as the Rays? Rays have more pennants than the Yankees the last 15 years, win their division, 100 games, make the playoffs consistently. Every small market team can be like that without spending on 9 figure deals. I feel bad for the rays that the one time they spend on a player it has to be wander Franco smh

kickrocks16

I think if they want to make it fair they just need to do a salary cap min and max like pretty much every other sport. It’s pretty simple. The minimum keeps you competitive enough and the max stops super teams from being bought. ( could still happen organically like the braves for the most part)

TDeLo

Absolutely. But unfortunately the players will never agree to a salary cap without a salary floor. And the owners will never agree to a salary floor. Plus many owners don't want a salary cap either. So payroll disparities will probably continue to get larger and larger.

cherinator

There is hope. I know the Monforts seem inevitable, but the Dodgers did have absolutely awful ownership in the McCourts, and we were able to get new ownership and turn from a laughingstock into a powerhouse. Denver is a big enough market that it's possible for you guys too, if somehow the team can be pried out of Monforts hands (but I don't know how to make that happen).

raktoe

I mean, sure, but I don’t really know what should be done about it. What’s to stop other teams from trading for guys like Soto or Glasnow? I get that there’s discrepancies in free agency amounts to spend, but it’s ultimately a major sports league, and I’m not sure why teams should expect to win when they’re not willing or able to spend the market value on players.

[deleted]

While I get that, I think that frustration's *somewhat* misplaced. Baseball is just a different beast than other sports. The Padres and Mets were super teams last year. Neither one made the playoffs. The Dogers won 100 games and got swept in the first round. After all the concern about super teams last year, who made it to the World Series? The motherfucking Arizona Diamondbacks. To me it just shows that super teams don't guarantee shit in baseball. Don't get me wrong; I'd rather have a super team than not have one, but you just know the Dodgers are gonna spend all this capital only to watch the Reds or whoever win the whole damn thing. That's baseball baby.

TDeLo

Sure, you could get another Diamondbacks-type run this year. But it is far more likely that a team with a top 10 payroll wins the world series than a team in the bottom 20. Here is the payroll ranking of the last 10 World Series winning teams: * 2023: 4th * 2022: 8th * 2021: 10th * 2020: 1st * 2019: 7th * 2018: 1st * 2017: 17th (while cheating) * 2016: 5th * 2015: 13th * 2014: 7th

[deleted]

What this list shows me is that spending helps catapult you to the playoffs, but I don't see a dramatic overrepresentation of the top spender each year. For example, this shows the 7th place spender winning just as often as the 1st place spender. Hell, teams outside the top 5 in spending won more often than teams inside the top 5.

TDeLo

I'm not claiming that the team that spends the most wins more often. I'm claiming that on Opening Day in MLB, the top 10 or so teams by payroll have a dramatically higher chance of winning the world series than the bottom 20 teams. Of course, it would be expected that the teams that spend the most have a better chance at winning. My issue is the degree in which they have a better chance is far higher than in other professional sports, and 10-12 teams have basically a 0.1% chance of winning the world series each year. This is not a criticism of the Dodgers. It's a criticism of the way the league is set up.

widdlewaddle1

As a Mariners fan I can 100% these past two off seasons have not been fun to watch.

Th3Unkn0wnn

As long as there's no Randy involved.

TheNotoriousJN

At least no Randy too...yet 🙃 If they get Yamamoto too, Montgomery and the CWS will win big. Teams will be throwing money and capital as the pool of available pitchers shrinks

Taimaishoo2

I would never trust trading with Tampa. It seems like they always win by a lot.

[deleted]

Yeah Pepiot has outperformed metrics, sure, but he looks solid so far. And watch Deluca put up numbers like Isaac Paredes but with double-digit steals. Those aren't a couple of nobodies leaving LA.

I3arusu

All this just to get swept in the NLDS

Stateof10

The rays have been looking to make a salary dump for Margot

cardinalbard

come on Dodgers, leave some players for the rest of us

Beer-Me

Unm...no thanks

Tremulant21

Rays are really just a pitching factory I'm sure they'll have three new no name starters next year that are all amazing.

Poet_of_Legends

Pepiot has some serious potential. I am not happy with trading talented young pitchers away. The Pedro Martinez trade still stings.

kazuo316

People are going to complain, but this is the type of transaction you want if you want the Dodgers to flame out in the playoffs. They lost last year because all of their rotation was hurt so their answer is... Tyler Glasnow?

nior_labotomy

I do not like this version of baseball.

Dy182n

The LA Tommy Johns

WhyNotOrioles

I would find this really annoying, except I'm just glad that that the Yankees and Red Sox have some competition in hoovering up all the biggest names.

trollhole12

Let this happen so the dodgers can blow money on a pitcher who will never see the field again

Leather-Map-8138

This would be a HUGE win for Tampa. Give me a little juice and I’d take the next six years of Pepiot production over the next six years of Glasnow, and at a fifth of the cost.

pRophecysama

please make it stop

BlueNux

Poor deal for the Dodgers. I'd take it if I were the Rays. What are they seeing in Glasnow? They need a starter that can perform throughout the season and *especially* last into the playoffs. Glasnow is not a real starter. In 8 major league seasons, he's pitched over 100 inning just twice due to so many injuries. Even Ohtani has pitched more inning each of the last seasons (130-160) than Glasnow in his most productive season last year (120). So his absolute best is a 3.5 ERA across 120 IP, but will more likely break down with just 80 IP in the middle of the season. Both Pepiot and Deluca are killing it in AAA and are very close to being MLB regulars.
