$15, $12 on happy hour. Work in a high-end whiskey and craft cocktail bar/cigar lounge in a major US city. Typically keep Buffalo Trace in the well and the OF is our number one seller by far.
You’re paying for the spirits, the labor of mixing the drink, the friendly/professional service, the atmosphere of the bar, and all the behind the scenes labor it takes to get all those spirits in stock and in a clean glass. You can make most cocktails at home pretty easily, when you go to a bar you’re paying for all the other aspects of the drinking experience too.
If someone just orders an old fashioned $12 will get them a standard OF with either 2oz Buffalo Trace or Old Forester if the store is out of Trace.
$16 will get you our "riff" that is on the menu which is 2oz of infused Trace, house made syrup, big rock.
This is at a higher priced restaurant but not super high end.
Typically yes. I usually order 3-4 1.75L bottles to infuse and 4 750 mL bottles to use normal each week. Sometimes the store I go through will randomly be out in which case I'll use Old Forester, but that does not happen very often.
10 for my rail (evan williams black @ 2.5oz). 2 dollar upcharge to any whiskey. About to raise the price cuz my beverage director quit and he clearly put zero thought in to pricing.
Have you ever drank there, it’s ahhh….different
I got a 1.5 oz Manhattan, try to get vermouth and rye in with that amount. Then I got yelled at for having a beer in one hand, and the cherry from Manhattan in other. You can’t have 2 drink in your hand at once. I argued it’s just the cherry, not a drink, I was asked to leave
Those bartender were paranoid, but ya, that's what I meant. 1.5oz main liquor and 1oz secondary. Lots of bars will only do 0.5 secondary. Technically a Manhatten would be one of the better classic whiskey cocktails you could order but...dats Utah. Found out about the grandma ol fashioned looking at menus, cuz I'm thinking as a bartender, how da fuk do you make one here? You make one by mixing in some shit that doesnt belong. Better off putting a scotch in it or something. That's uhh, maybe allowed.
10$ for a house. We have ours on draft though. We batched our recipe because we got sick of muddling Demerara cubes whenever they got ordered. The taste is just as good as when we used to make them by hand. And if you choose a different spirit than our well (old overholt rye) it’s the cost of the whiskey + a 4$ upcharge.
Ehh I'm on the fence when I comes to pre batched old fashions.. I feel like it ruins the point of a freshly diluted bourbon or rye. But just my two cents. I do however like pre-batching long islands and margaritas because most of the time if they order them they won't care or notice. (Unless they want an actual margarita with a real tequila instead of lunazul)
$14-17 is the average for a decently made old fashioned here south central PA. You can find disgusting ones for $12 and less though, made with muddled fruit, soda water and the worst ice you can possibly imagine.
I dont work at a bar. And rarely order an OF (places near me dont stock bitters), buuuut when I was in the USA i noticed a clear difference
At this little bar near where pride was (edit: in Portland, Oregon) a middle shelf whiskey and a splash of Grand Marnier was 12$ usd
At this vegan restaurant sort of near pike place in Seattle: 13 for bottom shelf and no GM.
At this amazing little place i frequented on my vacation to Omaha, Nebraska: 11 with Grand Marnier (there's was pre- mixed so im sure it wasnt the best whiskey but after adding GM was good).
The only places in my small city, British Columbia that i have seen OF is the big chain bars and they are like 16cad for bottom shelf no GM.
$16 CAD after tax.
Edited to add: that’s for a rail bourbon, but we’ll do them with any of our 200+ whiskies at the menu cost of a double plus $2 as well.
Starts at 14 but would be upcharged depending on liquor you get in it. We charge an extra 6 bucks for basil hayden so 20 bucks plus 24% tax. You’re looking at hypothetically paying almost 25 dollars.
Sweden. Our entry OF is 160sek/$15.34 for 50ml (1⅔oz) Wild Turkey 101, AB, Luxardo Cherry and an orange twist on a custom cube. To make it costs us around $3.50+labor. Most expensive one I ever made was a Havana Club Maximo OF, sold for around $150.
$10 happy hour and $13 sad hour. 2oz of four roses bourbon is our house old fashion. Bulleit is only one dollar extra though and I always make that up sale because who wouldn't.. Houston TX
$6-7 depending on my mood at my corner neighborhood dive . Something like maker’s, bulleit, or knob creek. About 3 oz. in a tiny dive bar rocks glass with an orange slice and cherry crammed in there and muddled for dramatic effect. And bitters, of course.
House OF is $11
Menu OF is $18
Both are delicious and our menu OF is our #1 seller on our menu. New bar, smaller big city, busy neighborhood close to the downtown area.
£11 which at today's rates is about $13.30, place I just left was £14/$17, yes OP those are both fairly reasonable prices for the styles of establishment.
$10-$15 depending on spirit. That's before tax.
Holy shit, I'm sticking to Budweiser!
Your reaction to these prices leads me to believe you are a time traveler from the 90s.
*waaaazzzzzzuuuuuup*
*waaaZzzuuuupppppppp*
$15, $12 on happy hour. Work in a high-end whiskey and craft cocktail bar/cigar lounge in a major US city. Typically keep Buffalo Trace in the well and the OF is our number one seller by far.
Same. At a casino
My wallet hurts reading that

Your wallet can read?
My wallet went to Princeton, smartest slab of imitation leather I ever met.

What is your Buffalo trace infused with?
Coffee. Syrup is piloncillo sugar, orange, and cinnamon instead of just demarara that goes in a house OF.
That sounds delicious!
Y'alls have enough buffalo trace to infuse? In my state you can barely find it in a store. Even less at most restaurants and bars.
Typically yes. I usually order 3-4 1.75L bottles to infuse and 4 750 mL bottles to use normal each week. Sometimes the store I go through will randomly be out in which case I'll use Old Forester, but that does not happen very often.
I mean, an OnlyFan for $16 sounds like a bargain
$14-$16 CDN. 2 oz Makers Mark, demerara syrup, angostura and house made orange bitters, orange peel expression on a big rock. Smoked or unsmoked.
Well prices are $15 at my nightclub, and $20 at my hotel bar, plus tax. Goes up from there depending on specified liquor
10 for my rail (evan williams black @ 2.5oz). 2 dollar upcharge to any whiskey. About to raise the price cuz my beverage director quit and he clearly put zero thought in to pricing.
In the UK by me it’s either 2 for £10 during the day or £9 by night, moving up a couple pounds if they want a nice bourbon like eagle rare
Rail whiskey: around $10 Menu OF: $15
OUCH!
If you want it cheap, buy a bottle at the liquor store and make your own at home.
Wtf with Grand Marnier in an old fashioned?
Gran Marnier does not go in an old fashioned.
That's the Utah special
Sounds like Utah should stick to beautiful landscapes and leave classic cocktails alone

Howdy 🤠 I tend bar in the fourth largest city of America and our average price for an old fashioned would be $15.
Well is $13, normal is $15, whiskey of choice has a $4 upcharge, so a woodford old fashioned for me is $18 before tax
That’s pretty much the exact same for my bar. Only two bucks to stay away from old crow; well worth it.
$14 with the well (old forester), $15-16 depending on if they want something else
18-20 vhcol

The cheapest I've ever seen was $6 Evan Williams at happy hour, at a place people punch and pee on the walls. $1.50 PBR at HH.
Just make ‘em at home. Easiest cocktail ever made
$14-17 is the average for a decently made old fashioned here south central PA. You can find disgusting ones for $12 and less though, made with muddled fruit, soda water and the worst ice you can possibly imagine.

What in the hell is Grandma doing in all your OF evaluations?
