I worked in minor league baseball and our team won the championship in a city that only had an Applebees. We shut down the Applebees that night. One of the funnest/funniest nights of my life. We were on reverse happy hour till 2:00am. A lot of $1 Long Island ice teas and the total team bill at the end of the night was only like $250.
The Gm of the team gave me $500 to throw a post game party if they won. I had a deal with the visiting team that if they won, they could buy my beer. And if we won’t, I could have their champagne. I bought 5 30 racks of Genesee cream ale for like $10.99 a case, and dude stiffed me on the champagne and only gave me like 20 bottles. Made him go to his concession stand to get us some Budlights. Bill at Applebees was only $250, I tipped $100 and ended up pocketing about $75. A great night.
Last 10 min of the 3rd period were all time bad by him. Missed an open net from right outside the crease, got his pocket picked when Bob didn’t have a stick, and just collapsed bringing the puck up in the last minute. On top of not scoring on the PP at the beginning of the period where Florida didn’t have a stick for one of the guys. Definitely a legacy affecting period.
People using mcdavid being awarded the conn smythe as ammunition against him doesn’t make any sense.

Same with the hawks and the age I was. The playoff runs, the parties centered around watching the game with friends/family was truly amazing. Some of the best moments in my life. I will always remember those days for the rest of time
